I think we saw in that last 45 minutes why Lloyd did not start as bad a half as I can remember from a striker especially given we were camped in their half. Kolli cannot come back quick enough just to bring some smart movement and goal threat
Very very difficult to beat a low block without a striker. I think we saw today how important Field and Varane are to this team. Colback has yet again cost us a game when he was supposed to be the midfield leader.

Think the ref has done us. Just watching the pen back on replays, Colback puts his arm on his shoulder for a brief second, a delay, then he goes to ground. Ref couldnt wait to give it, whereas early, I think its Yang gets Rugby tackled to the ground as we take a corner, just before Dunne hits the side netting. Ref has a good view as well.

When a rookie striker is your only fit striker you're in trouble. Having Frey, Kolli and Cesar all out a lot of the time really has left us unbelievably thin and we were thin to start with realistically. Has to be a top priority in the summer, getting a genuine striker with some experience at this level. |  |

I think the players are a bit fortunate to get that reception at the end .
Seemed to be a pretty decent one but I’m not there so can’t be sure.
But I thought we knocked it about with no urgency no tempo . We played that second half like we were 4-0 up in a pre season friendly.
It can be difficult but that’s a huge wasted opportunity. Poor.
Marti not really covering himself in glory . Smyth coming off instead of Yang is a bit of a strange one to me . Yang is so naive . Whole thing from the team announcement to the final whistle just seemed a bit ….crap.
Oh and another thing, observational criticism isn’t ’picking’ on players. This isn’t the playground .
If a player doesn’t do the basics of his job then us fans are entitled to ask why about what we are literally witnessing in front of us .
And to just accept that just because we are a ‘bit skint ‘is settling dangerously for mediocrity.
Paal didn’t read the situation at all and got done . Before we know it we are 1-0 down. If it had been Dunne, Cook….Shittu McDonald or Shanks I’d still say the same thing .
It’s the basics of his job.
That said he’s not why we lost today . We just created naff all and we simply don’t have the squad or the quality up front . I’ll reiterate again for that fella that questioned the ‘paal hate’ a competent fullback does not get beaten in the build up before the foul by Colback. Meaning we don’t go 1 down, he’s a complete liability. Can’t defend, gets beat constantly by a pacer winger especially away from home and hits the first man from 90 percent of set pieces he takes. First thing they teach you when taking your badges is that against 10 men you keep the ball moving, target the penalty spot and get balls in before the centre backs can set.
What you don’t do is what we always do against 10 - give it to Chair, let him stop, do step overs and give it back inside or cut back inside himself before floating in crosses for the set centre backs to knock away. Brainless. | | | |

And whilst Alfie may not be the best option, when you are the only striker option and still not selected ahead of non strikers, I would expect confidence to be low.
As for Smyth, he’d a least have had a go on the wing. Yang did nothing worth keeping him on for - not for us or Spurs, who he is contracted to.

As I said above , it’s got to a stage now that you can’t comment on what you are literally seeing in front of your own eyes anymore when it comes to some players.
Some of the best defenders to have ever play the game had no pace.
It’s about putting yourself in good positions to stop being done for pace . It’s called ‘reading’ the game and the situation. | | | |

1. Rayan Kolli starting or as a sub is pivotal for this team. Hopefully he is nearly ready.
2. Might be time to look deeper into the ranks to find some offense. Andersen has had a really bad season.
There’s been a lot of experimental line ups. Hopefully we can settle on what the team should be to get through to the end of the season. |  | | |
