Your best and worst ever QPR moment witnessed as a fan and as an armchair fan !! 12:19 - Jan 5 with 4493 viewsnumptydumpty

Am sure, many of us have moments that will stick with us for a very long time, in that Rangers did something quite incredible that we witnessed in person or on TV. Doesn't need to be a wonder goal. Could be a sending off, a moment of madness, an emotional response, something overheard from players. And likewise for worst ever moment.

I wasn't unfortunately well enough to watch the game at Wembley for the Zamora moment and quite a few stand out moments over the years when wasn't unfortunately in attendance. Finances and working away i only saw about two or three games in person during the Adel Season, not old enough for Stan.

Think my best moment for me was Kenny Samson hitting an absolute rocket into the bottom corner of the net. Was in East Paddock drenched and it was hard to see properly in those days on the terraces, particularly if you weren't 6 foot 3. But was great game, fabulous atmosphere, singing all game, a lot of who the frickin hell are you to the Arsenal fans and the like. And we were under a lot of pressure. The ball was laid off to Sansom in second half, I think by Sinton , and time stood still when Kenny reached the ball and struck it with arrow like accuracy, was one of those net rippling moments. Beauty personified !!

It was like an explosion of chaos, for minutes afterwards. I totally lost my nut that day. Haven't had a moment like that since.

Nearest in recent seasons was Jummy Dunne's swerving thunderbolt volley into the top corner for a 90th minute winner, but because am older, am bit more restrained in my reactions !!

It's hard for me to pin down worst ever moments but I unfortunately was actually going to most home games when we had Ainsworth in charge, as I felt we had zero chance of winning and zero chance of seeing any quality football from Rangers, who were more like a Sunday league team all this time. Most home games over the years I have felt, we had decent chances of winning against most teams at home, but that period was brutal !!

My best moment watching on the box was Mackie putting us two one up at City in the Aguerooo game and we had ten men at that point also. My mates boss was with us at the time, not a football fan, he had zero idea, why two so called adult professional men were wetting themselves something chronic and rolling around the floor giggling in fits just because a man kicked a ball between two sticks !!

Worst moment witnessed on TV. It's hazy for me as was in middle of exams at the time, so again wasn't at the game, but unfortunately that Milk Cup Final against Oxford.

We had done brilliantly to knock out Chelsea and Liverpool and only had lowly Oxford in between us and glory. I was certain that finally Rangers would get some silverware. Great wet lettuce. Never was a phrase more apt. The whole 90 minutes of moments for me was seriously depressing, like the players had been drugged or there was some kind of gambling scam going on. Was awful.

Best “I can’t spake” live moments…Trev, Andy Gray’s first against Man United, Jimmy Dunne against Birmingham, 5-5.
Best on TV…Gary Gillespie’s OG, couldn’t speak for about an hour afterwards, utter disbelief and joy.

Oldham semi at home.

The game we don’t talk about. Very poignant what Brian posted further up.

And this:

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

Some great posts on this thread .

Sinclair’s overhead kick being one of many live ones . The Chelsea 6-0. The Fenwick equaliser at Wembley .
On tv the 4-1 at old Trafford . The semifinal second leg at Anfield . What moments .
For reasons too long to explain I never was at nor did I see the Zamora moment or game . Long story short.

Bad ones have all been mentioned .
Maybe that cup final replay . 7 years old and heartbroken

That is a very heartfelt and sad post Brian pity the game ended like that .
I had the opposite experience with it being my first trip to Wembley and having 2 brothers living in London taking care of me ( buying match tickets etc ) and I loved the whole day trip.
Losing was hurtful of course but for me it was about getting there and experiencing that world which I realished .One of my brothers died mysteriously at 50 and our joke for years after 1986 was my coat starting to smoulder from a guy behind dropping his cigarette or ash on it .The security guy reacted with blinding speed stamping it out fair play to him but it was basically ruined.
If QPR had performed and won it would have been one of the best experiences of my life

Lovely, Bannerman. Must have been a great day. I can imagine it.

Just proves that the day is different for everyone.

I think all of mine have been mentioned, but here we go:-

Best live - Keith Bradley og Villa Park May 1968

Best on TV - New Years Day 1992

Worst by the largest margin possible! Carrow Road Easter Saturday 1976. I can still picture those three goals & struggle to comprehend how we allowed any of them to happen!

Great thread (although wouldn't agree with title) All my experiences are on TV so my best was Gerry Francis goal v Liverpool '75 - been hooked ever since. Worst: Gary Micklewhite's disallowed goal v Spurs

Shirley…. There’s too many best and far, far, far too many worst?

One of the best - Anfield away 1991….. a 1-3 win and probably one of the best away days ever
I ran one of my mini buses and I could be here all night recounting stories of that day from the 8am meet up through to arriving back in London at 10pm and a mates sisters party.
Christ we were some team then and my all time legend with his one touch goal

One of the worst might be Leyton Orient away where I nearly punched Karl Connolly
Honourable mention for Preston 5 QPR 0 where we had rucks in away end, basically the end of Gerry and I broke down on M1 in the freezing fog on way home (dodgy petrol gauge and one of our travelling party needed to be back for a wedding bash)

Ahhhh the memories

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Best live: Furlong's goal in the play off semi v Oldham. The cool football kids would call it "limbs" these days but it was so much more than that, almost orgasmic in intensity. Top of SAR that day and literally hit the roof.

Best moment: Actually not even a game but the promotion parade around the bush when we came up the season after. Managed to gib into the reception at the town hall through a kitchen window so a perfect end to a perfect day. Ollie was slaughtered.

Worst live: Hard to look past the 6-1 at Scumford Bridge. 1 down in under 30secs, 4 down after 25mins, FullKitWànker scoring and Torres getting a hat-trick. Only Cisse getting the consolation has allowed me to keep rubbing 1986 in their fùcking drooling mongoloid faces. Honourable mention to the 6-0 at Foolham - ruined a great day drinking in the sun by the river and binned it at half-time. The Andy Johnson who got the hat-trick cannot be the Andy Johnson we signed and no-one can tell me different.

Worst moment: Again, not a game, but the tragic, tragic deaths of Ray Jones followed by Kiyan Prince shortly after really had me wondering what the point of it all was. I didn't know either but it felt each time like a friend had died.

Best in person probably the Sansom goal v Arsenal in the cup. Armchair has to be Zamora, around 2am here when it went in. The dog, being the only other awake animal in the house, was quite concerned for my welfare given my reaction.

Agree with the person above on Cardiff scoring in extra time. I was listening to a radio broadcast online while my brother and several mates were at the game. Devastated, it felt like we might be condemned to the 3rd/4th divisions forever in that moment. In person it has to be the complete no show at Wembley in 86 when a trophy was there for the taking.

Reading the thread as brought back so many memories... missed a large chunk of QPR working in the Middle East for years so most of mine will be ancient or new
The Bradly OG at Villa
Watching Rodney tear Birmingham a new one, and the football we played was beautiful
Beating Man U at our place in the 70s in their relegation season
The semi final at Highbury win
But the most joyous the 67 cup win
The worse live
1-8 at untied, bunked off school, p!ssed down the whole game, never spoke a word in the car on the drive back
Busby leg break.... horrendous .
3-3 draw at the old Valley, after being 3-1 up with minutes to go
On tele... worse
The 0-3 friendly in 1986... they showed it live in Saudi... bastards
The Southend away game ... I lost count after 4
But without doubt the worse was not even on telly... it was the radi... listening to the Wolves v Liverpool match in the local and the 2nd going in... heartbreaking
Best TV... none really... but every game we win

Kenny Samson goal for me, also.
Worst was the train home after losing the cup replay at Anfield, it just hit me that despite how good our team was, we were never going to win anything.

Best in person, probably the Oldham semi-final. That was definitely the loudest I've ever heard it at Loftus Road. Not just when the goal went in, but before the match and everything.

Another one that always sticks in the mind, the last game of the season 6-0 against Palace to stay up. The biggest piss-up W12 has ever seen.
Starting from the British Queen, then the Coningham, the Queen Adelaide, a few more until we ended up in Swakeleys. We kept having to move from pub to pub because they were running out of beer.
We have a lot of stories from that day!

Best one on telly, hmm can't think of that many good ones.
Probably the 4-1 v Man U Dennis Bailey Hallelujah!!

Worst ones that I've been there in person, the Milk Cup final certainly. But whilst it was annoying at the time I was only 15 and I was less upset than on my previous time seeing QPR at Wembley (FA Cup replay v Spurs).
At the time QPR were a very good team and I naively thought I'd see us play in several other cup finals.

So many terrible and infuriating matches I've been to, both at home & especially away.
That Huddersfield away match which confirmed our relegation in 2001 probably the most miserable I've felt at and after a match.

One that springs to mind for worst TV game was losing 4-0 to Swansea in the FA Cup first round.
Also there was a TV game against Liverpool in the Premier League when that cúnt Redknapp was our manager. We were at home and they beat us comfortably. Suarez scored a hat-trick I think. We looked a trillion miles away from being able to compete at that level. And that's because we were.
Those 3 seasons we had in the Premier League in the 2000s were some of the most misery-packed times in all my years supporting this club.
Totally made me fall out of love with the Premier League, I got out of the habit of watching Match of the Day during those seasons and I've never got back into it.

There are so many to choose from for a variety of reasons it's difficult to have absolute's but I'll go for Wembley 2014 and Wembley 1986.

Best - Zamora (obviously)
Best TV - Dennis Bailey 92
Worst - Chesterfield away in horizontal rain. Lost 4-2 (I think) and so windy one of our goalkicks went behind for a corner.

Best Live....Forest or Sheff Wed at the end of 92/93 - top team in London that season
Worst Live - Cardiff play off final

Best TV - Man Utd 4-1 - sat watching with United fans....unlikely to happen again
Worst TV - Liverpool 0-1 in Nov 92 - we smashed them that day and then Ronnie Rosenthal scored in the last minute...couldn't believe it

Reading 1 - QPR 2, September 2nd 1997.

I don't know if any of you have had the pleasure of driving a Talbot Samba but, let me assure you, it was the most dogshit car you could drive in 1997.

This is important because that day my brother told me I'd be driving him and his two mates up to Elm Park. This was the first time I'd driven on a motorway in my life and between that car's four speed gearbox and having four adult human males, that piece of shit car couldn't break 50mph on the motorway. Fking awful.

So we get there. I'm wondering if I'm even going to be able to get us back home in that shitbox (which had a 50/50 chance of starting - although you could whack the starter motor thing with a spanner and that'd improve your odds) and then we go into half-time 1-0 down. C*NT!

But in the second half, Tiny John Spencer scores a f**king header (the famous 'I'm your f*cking man' goal) and then Mike Sheron scores a bobbler a few minutes later. I remember celebrating up on a fence. It was the happiest I'd ever been at a match until Zamora did his thing in 2014.

Worst moment was Cantona scoring at roughly 194 minutes against us. Especially because as I was walking to the car I saw some guy full force punch a brick wall out of anger. Eesh!

Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.

Great story there (!), but I recall the famous 'Spencer f**king man' game being the season before when we lost 2-1 at Elm Park having been 1-0 up (Nov 96 when Spenny and Peacock joined)? Could be wrong, too long ago.

All my entries have long since been taken on this thread - save for a Wayne Fereday piledriver in a 2-1 home win over Spurs in Apr(?) 84 just after we'd missed a penalty. That felt good.

Great thread this, with lots of happy memories are being brought back.

The worst just has to be What Brian Mc said but a close second was turning up for Coventry away in 1996 and realising that my ticket was on the sodding kitchen table. And we fecking lost one sodding nil and were essentially relegated when a win seemed perfectly possible to cap a pretty decent fight towards the end of that season.

For the best, happy memories of that Sansom rocket (I was in the lower Loft) and of that Wegerle inspired 3-1 at Anfield (especially the joy of getting the third when the scousers were all excited about pulling one back) but for me it will always be of the "real" Milk Cup Final, on a stage set left over from a film of the Battle of the Somme, at Stamford Bridge, as the late Michael Robinson sent the ball goal wards and it was airborne for I swear several minutes, looping over Niedzwiecki, slowly dipping towards the Rangers fans and the net to nestle in the quagmire on the right side of the line.

In terms of best moments, could I offer the 3-3 draw at Oakwell in 2004? 1-0 down, 2-1 up, 3-2 down and then Furlong scored at about a quarter to eight to send the away end into complete delirium.

It was a point that kept us in the top two and felt like it was worth 1000. Complete bedlam when that went in. Superb.

Best/Proudest (live):

- seeing Terry Fenwick lead us out in the FA Cup final replay in '82 with my Dad (RIP) and Spurs supporting brother;
- Newcastle at home 5-5
- Zamoraaaaaaaaaa!
(and I remember that Kenny Sansom screamer, was in the Loft and witnessed the scenes!)

Worst (live):

- Oxford away when Harford got the heave-ho
- FA Cup v Wimbledon 1997 at Selhurst Park (the Hateley goal) - huge turnout of Rs fans and we just didn't perform :-(
