Sunday sees perhaps our biggest test of the season so far when Doncaster Rovers visit the JCS.
Grant McCann and Billy Sharp have perhaps piled extra pressure on Donny Rovers by demanding a win at the JCS.
By contrast DC has a resurgent Super U’s team with the opportunity to extend their unbeaten run to 11 games on Sunday whilst Matt Macey is looking for a record eighth consecutive clean sheet.
Samson Tovide and Arthur Read remain doubtful but Teddy Bishop would be the obvious choice to replace Read.
My prediction is for a close encounter but I see the U’s coming out on top with a single goal victory over Donny Rovers and Lyle Taylor to net the vital winner.
A bumper crowd of 6,500 will enjoy the upwardly mobile U’s victory over another of the promotion contenders.
Weather 8 degrees Celsius, cloudy with little chance of precipitation and a gentle breeze.
DC is likely to opt for the following starting XI:
Macey
Egbo Flanagan Donnelly Iandolo
McDonnell Bishop
Thorn Payne Edwards
Taylor
Subs: Gordon Anderson Hopper Kells Smith Goodliffe Hunt
From the bench John Kymani Gordon has demonstrated his ability recently and I would expect to see him at some stage.
Pinot asked how the U’s would approach the game if they eventually concede a goal. At present I would expect to see little change. We are playing with confidence and DC has a largely settled side both of which are important aspects when it comes to protecting a lead or finding a way back into the game should we concede. I am of the opinion though that Doncaster will have to worry about our form and consistency.
Enjoy the game.
Let’s keep this run going and continue to close the gap on the top seven.

Great stuff as always Durham. Pinot is right too, we have to be mentally prepared for the fact that eventually we will concede a goal, and eventually we’ll lose. I can cope with that, we’re showing real resilience and team spirit right now, so I’m confident that when these setbacks arrive, we’ll just dust ourselves down and get right back on the proverbial horse.
I also think we’re going to give someone a right thumping soon…

Wessex How about a comfortable 3-0 New Year win at the County Ground to cement the unbeaten run.

Very good game against very good opposition - probably the best we've seen at the JobServe. I really enjoyed it, but for Teddy's last second curler not finding enough of the inside post to give us the win I think we deserved. But still, it showed we shouldn't fear anyone in this league. 2025 is going to be an exciting second half of the season.

Agreed and now, having conceded and gone behind I am not worried about the reaction. The reaction was excellent and yes, deserved more by the end. No reason not to grow confidence again against a likely promotion team. No Tovide or Read too.
Up the increasingly mid table U's.

Well responded from being a goal down against a decent team shows how far we team has come since we played them the end of last season. Denied by the post in extra time was the difference of getting a win than a hard fought entertaining draw. But the talking point has to be the Donny boys taking a free kick which resulted. IMonty Pythonesque about the whole scenario.

It was a bizarre way to get sent off, but I think he moved the ball away from the referee's mark at least twice. Asking for it really, and bone-headed as he already had a yellow. Still, we all loved it! I don't think Teddy's shot can be described as a curler - it was a half-volleyed screamer...

He stupidly moved the "paint" in front of the ball which was about a yard further forward of where the ref had originally painted the mark. Blatant cheating and rightfully given a second yellow card for unsporting behaviour. His actions were even more idiotic given he'd been booked eleven minutes earlier and he was literally yards from both the referee and linesman. And to gain what? A yard on a 30-40 yard free kick. Ridiculous. But not as ridiculous as McCann trying to justify the player's actions and blame the referee. If footballers acted with a bit more honesty and integrity a referee's job would certainly be made a lot easier.
Don't think we've heard a peep from franksic1988 since the Bradford game. Just shows that he's obviously not a true fan and only interested in posting negative drivel when the team are struggling.

Also, the whole point of the spray - which solved so many infringement issues in an instant - is that the ref paces out the ten yards to where the wall must be from that spot. You can’t then decide to move the spot. Idiotic of the player, deserved his second yellow, and very unprofessional of the manager to try and put the blame on the referee.

My thoughts too. Apart from here I used to see him post comments on the Gazette and Youtube constantly digging at the Cowley brothers. He started calling them the PE teachers in a derisive context. He also had an odd obsession with Ben Garner, always saying We’d be flying if we’d kept hold of him.

Sickfrank is an irrelevance.
Let's focus on the U's climbing the table and achieving a top seven finish.

The thing I don't understand is how referees don't insist on throw ins being taken from the right spot. They seem to be regularly allowed to steal at least 10 yards, and often a lot more...

Johnnie Jackson had a “ Arse “ moment after the Wimbledon game against the Gills last night . Winner by Stevens was clearly shouldered in from the corner, which the ref and linesmen both failed to see, which Johnnie strangely had conveniently not seen after before the post match interview . Lyle Taylor was very articulate with his after match thoughts .

One of the lesser important part of refereeing decisions. Said from experience.

Looking at the table, there is incredibly only a one point difference between 2nd and 8th. So when we talk about making the play-offs, in reality we stand the same chance of making the automatic spots.

Mick I like your style.
Whisper it but I'm all for a top three place too.
However let's get to the top seven first and push on from there.
