Kick off times 22:58 - Sep 19 with 3623 viewscolinallcars

As we approach another cock's-crow kick off time, as I mulled over my ale, it occured to me that if all this is a “success”, ie increased subs and ad revenue for Sky, we could be looking back at this season as the good old days when we still had some Sat 3pm kick offs.
It surely behoves all those with Sky subs to cancel.

Yep. I'm surprised there hasn't been more of a backlash over this. It seems people have moaned... but accepted it.

Give it a few years for us to get used to all these 12:30 kick offs and then they'll start moving some fixtures to 10:30am too, to get even more games televised. Because there's not enough football on TV as it is..!

Yes, but this is all part of the Sky dominance and genius of the model. It's all about subscriptions. They don't care about the fact they get zero viewing figures for their games, it isn't really relevant.

I hate these kick off times, they stop me going, stop my son going from Uni, ruin atmospheres. But in reality, am I going to cancel my sky subscription in protest? Not in a million years. I love cricket, so couldn't do without it. I actually watch very little football on it. Ever just tried to cancel one part of your subscription like the kids channels or whatever? They are all incomprehensibly tied to each other "Oh, if you cancel that then you lose x, y, z channels" etc etc.

So most of the fans singing derogatory songs about Sky TV, then go home and watch their subscription.

I'm sure there is a better way of forcing Sky's hand, and I think it is non-attendance of games and poorer atmospheres, which happen anyway. A worse product doesn't help them at all.

That is pretty much it, in a nutshell.

I don't have a Sky sub and never will.

The KO time tomorrow is doing my head in. It disrupts family life, ruins the pre-match routine and will flatten the atmosphere.

I know what you're saying. I don't have a Sky subscription. Never have and never will. There's far, far, too much football on TV.

Will be interesting at the end of the day to see the net benefit of this deal to clubs

More Sky blood money vs lower attendances, fewer away fans, less concessions etc

When I die and I'm being interviewed by the Recording Angel outside the Pearly Gates, she'll say “what good hast thou done in thy life ?”
I'll tell her I've never had Sky TV and I'll be in like Flynn.

Those devious Sky b'stards have us by the short and curlies.

I can't make the game tomorrow but might have done had it been 3pm. But instead, er, it's OK I can still watch on the telly.

Was chatting to a Blades mate yesterday about one of their upcoming games and he basically said the same thing (although he does live in Colchester).

We are all complicit.

Nope! I live near Brighton and my kids have clubs on Saturday mornings (football training, karate etc) and by the time they are done, it's 11:45am. So, I can't make 12:30 games. And I don't particularly like watching us on TV, so I will miss it. First 3pm home game of the season isn't until Saturday 19th October. Disgraceful.

I too hate these 12:30 and like others, my son has Tae-Kwon do and football clubs Saturday morning. I have a ST and sit with my dad, who often works half day Saturday. We might be a couple of dinosaurs in attitude but we’ve decided to sack off the 12:30s for the time being.

Apart from the inconvenience of the time, the atmosphere takes a hit too.

I see Sam Field said something yesterday about getting Loftus Road rocking like last season. Sorry Sam, but that's not happening until we start getting normal kick off times

This is an issue. There is a sterility to starting games so early. I feel the EFL has become the short film before the main movie back in the days of Saturday morning pictures at the cinema. The main movie being the PL. We're just the travelogue about gondolas in Venice before Ben Hur.

Each to their own but I don't know if I understand not watching on tv if you have that, admittedly second best, option.

I can understand if it's because of better plans.

Yep, exactly the same for me.
Another Saturday kickoff I can't make tomorrow.
The most I get out of sky is the 2 min highlights when I can't go and am too impatient to wait for the club to upload.

I recently cut the cord with cable, three reasons for doing so.

a/ Price

b/ Impossible to drop channels without losing ones I wanted to keep.

c/ The big sum donations they were making to groups I didn't wish to underwrite.

For many of us overseas fans, 12:30pm Kick offs are unfeasible to watch live. Unless they're picked up by a secondary supplier (DaZN here in Canada.) QPR+ screens most games live, but the full replay isn't available until 48 hours later as old news. Unless this changes — which I doubt — I'll cancel my season subscription to QPR+, it just won't be worth it. Instead I'll buy the games that remain available on a match-by-match basis only.

‘Kin hate Sky and their vendetta against match going supporters. Had to feel a bit for the WRPAFC supporters when all their away matches are a proper trek away and the 12:30 ko makes it worse.

I’m hoping to make the DW mate, which is why I’m up at this even ungodlier hour than normal. (‘Kin Sky).

I can’t make the game and have never had Sky. I agree the only things those kunts understand are numbers - either increasing or decreasing. So the only thing that hurts them is people leaving.

On a day like today, either do like me and go down the boozer earlier than you would normally, or get a VPN and watch the game on QPR+ from somewhere nice and sunny

QPR - "shit but local"
