Toyed with this idea last season. Shall we have a thread to discuss, comment on, cover the rest of the league? A place to discuss other teams’ results, performances, financial implosions, etc?

For example, last night, anyone catch either of the first two games? I didn’t. But somewhat surprised/worried Blackburn scored 4 given how they are meant to struggle. Was it Derby being utter sh*te?

Sounds like Preston are continuing in the same vein of being incredibly dull.

Clive, what do you think? Worth making a sticky? Might reduce the number of threads to manage.

His rap sheet of misdemeanours/thuggery grows by the day. Playing on when Cook tore the muscle of his sole is a Good Samaritan act relative to rest of it. Horrible bloke, befitting of PNE

He might be a tool and worse if he racially abused someone but you cannot be serious about his goal not one player in the league would have stopped there including ours.
Another thing he had to do was find the corner past Nardi which took a bit of skill which he obviously has.
Unless its an ugly clash of heads or God forbid a player clutching at his chest and going down I dont see any problem with a goal like he got its just bad luck on SC really.
Imagine being the Coventry fans 2 last second winners in 3 days after losing a couple they must be in heaven .
Amazing how they make a spring push towards the playoffs last few years and Fat Frank in charge now

Oh yeah I’m being very tongue in cheek there mate. Don’t actually think there’s anything wrong with that one incident, but given he’s clearly a wan**** it just fits the narrative. Totally agree if any of our strikers pulled a Di Canio in that situation we’d be fuming. But…he’s clearly a piece of work

I think the football Gods gave us a bit of luck today with the others teams' results.

Which obviously means 3 nil loss at Pompey next week.

I always think these types of games are really the test of whether or not we have developed this season. Especially when the opposition are fighting against relegation.

Finish them off in style and you get a great start into the run of ‘tougher’ games next month.

First goal critical, second goal the real decider of the scoreline.

Let’s hope Frey leads the line as he did on Friday and we convert most of our chances.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

5th and 6th place are seemingly wide open still for anyone on a run and the momentum could easily carry one of those teams into the play off final.

A sixth-place finish requires an average of 74 points. That leaves us needing 2+ points per game, which is too big an ask when considering next month's fixtures.

In 2018/19 Villa were 11th on 44 points after 33 games.

They drew the 34th game and then won ten on the spin, drew game 45 and lost game 46.

They finished 5th on 76 points, 3 points clear of 7th and went on to win the play offs.

It can happen and we can dream.😁

And if you want to make progress in a playoff, we’ll have to beat two of the better teams above us so why not. We tend to play better against better teams and these are all one off games until the playoffs.

We’ve got some loan players playing ahead of or own players currently, which would indicate that there are still aspirations.

Assuming it would take a major prolapse to get relegated from here, if we are settling for mid table then I would hope we developed internally first and only used loan players as subs.

I would expect that as the season closes, some of the out of contract/never going to renew crew will be deselected too unless there’s no replacement (Paal) or there’s still an outside chance (tonight).

Remember the CUP selection and subs. Might as well go hard at it with every game.

"We tend to play better against better teams".

Oft stated but there's no evidence for it. Most likely it's a misapprehension rooted in expectation bias.

Eg, this season we've gained 6 pts in seven games v the top six (.857 ppg) and 20 pts in 10 games v the bottom six (2 ppg). Eight of our wins have been against teams below us and just three from teams above.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Yeh first half of the season against the top six I think we were D2 L4, given we've got them all to play again that'll need to change if we are going to go anywhere serious - beating Blackburn in the first of those is a nice start.

Steve Cooper rumoured.

Boro are massively under performing for the team they've got and the money they've spent.

Middlesbrough must have someone called Cooper in the club at all times. That’s the law.

Gives me hope we have the best teams at home. If we’re in with any sort of a shout still those will be a hell of an atmosphere no matter what time Sky bless us with to kick off.

I’ve had a vision we beat Sunderland to cost them promotion and get sixth and thus get to return there a mere ten days later.

Apparently Leeds booted off about Craig Pawson getting their game tonight as he's a Sheff Utd fan, so they've been given Stuart Attwell instead. That'll learn em.

I've always been in the playoffs are unliklely camp but when you see the teams we are competing with, Norwich, Boro, Watford, Sheff Wed, Bristol City, West brom, Coventry and Blackburn none of them are particuarly brilliant who we should be worried about.

What might cost us if not beating or at least taking points off Coventry & Sheff Wed when we had the chance as we don't have many games against those around us so wil be relying on other teams as well as an incredible run from ourselves

That win the other night though and if we can back it up on Saturday makes next month a very exciting opportunity for us

We've played 12 games against the top nine and won one (Blackburn H).
It's only when you start getting to Watford in 10th and Norwich in 12th that you get to teams we've taken 3/4 points off.
Probably an indication of about where we are in the league.
Bottom 6 we've also played 11 times and only lost twice (Hull H, Derby A).

We need to average 2 points a game for the whole run in, as a bare minimum. 26 points from 13. Gets us to 70 points, which might scrape in. Might not though. There are enough teams above us and on up to 4 points better off whereby one of them will get 22-26 in that spell.

2 points per game is very hard. It’s table topping form. We have done it for one run this season, but I struggle to see us doing it a second time, and when we have to play Sheff Utd, Leeds, and Burnley at home, and Boro, West Brom, and Sunderland away.

It’s a massive ask. We would have to beat Portsmouth to have a sniff. But it’s a very tough run in.

Leeds, Sheffield United, Burnley, Sunderland. They don’t exactly get the heart racing. I suppose we’ll get Ipswich back for fun and frolics next season.

Leeds fans: the self proclaimed best fans in the country 😂
Not a sound out of them after Sunderland scored, no support for their team, no renditions of that dirge Marching On song they love, nothing. For about 40 minutes.
Then they equalise and suddenly Sky commentators are claiming their massive support has made the difference etc.

Can’t stand Leeds: hope we can feck up their promotion once again.
