Interesting, only a two year deal if he makes enough appearances. That at least frees up some budget for someone able to contribute a bit more

Yep, the brand moves on whilst the likes of Chris Ramsey and others will be quietly + selflessly doing his regular stint at a homeless shelter + Lee Hoos and others will be working their socks off to fill the ever larger financial blackhole. At least the back of house staff won't have to tolerate his big-time behaviour and us fans can enjoy watching respectful and humble players do their best for the shirt.

Thank god you are here to represent the views of QPR’s ‘back of house staff’.
They must be very grateful.

Pleasure Ned, see our DoF has since deleted her tweet suggesting our club is rotten to the core #community

His interview on the Open All Rs podcast is worth a listen, both Charlie and his wife end up in tears at one point. He quite clearly cares about the club and can tell he is upset and angry about it. He talks about the Ellerslie Road incident, mentoring the younger players and his close relationship with them, also wanting to stay and was willing to accept less money but wasn't offered anything. Also said club asked him to rally the fans a few weeks ago which he did now now feels was unfair considering they knew they were letting him go.

Overall i think its the right call to let him go but quite fascinating hearing from him in this kind of detail, paints a quite different picture to the one people seem to have of Austin

He never really got fit enough this season and letting him go is the right decision IMO , but if you needed one of our three forwards to take a half chance in a must win game , for me it would be Charlie Austin all day long .

Unlike Austin to only see something from his perspective.

So after his Oscar Winning act and 'heart-felt' emotional sign-off to the R Block he was expecting to be offered a new contract just days later? Really?

I think the bloke is a complete fraud but glad he's managed to get his Mrs so back onside after his indiscretions, it's amazing how wealth and a media presence can fix playing away.

Hopefully our club is'n rotten to the core, and just like we all needed to know Charlie cheated at monopoly, these tweets, always misunderstood or quickly deleted are not something our club has to tolerate from other players partners going forward, regardless of their thirst for self promotion or creating a media profile.

Sadly, whatever everyone's opinion on him and his motives, his legs were clearly gone. Years of injuries have caught up with him.
However, stick the ball on his head or at his feet within 12 yards of the goal and he'll score. The team failed to do this.
The Austins did loads for the club outside of football and I think that should be considered before tearing down his reputation.
A player that wants to play for QPR .
He shouldn't have ended his career at QPR like this.

lifes too short for this, you hate the fella, you've made that clear. We all have players we can't stand, not sure why you have to get so personal about him but each to their own.

You can at least look forward to him no longer being at the club now rather than the constant digs and accusations

The dig at his wife is totally unwarranted, I doubt any of us know her character and motivations, but she seems to be a very good person.

If it is true that he would have stayed on less money it does sound bad IF the Club didn't talk to him about another year. As someone else posted somewhere about Gray, we would probably benefit from having one experienced striker next season. Both Austin and Gray would give that. Austin was ours and we hear he works well with the youngsters, still scores goals, and looked to me like he was improving his fitness late on possibly getting his early season personal issues a bit behind him. I'd have thought at least a conversation with the new Head Coach involved would have been worthwhile if the Financial terms were doable.

We'll close it there, but don't hate the fella at all, just have an innate sense of fairness and hate to see decent hardworking people (MW imo) undermined and others taken for complete fools (our fans).

Same as some people are unfazed by Boris's bullshit + lies and others find it difficult to swallow. Both would be great lads for a night out, but would I employ or trust either of them, never.

why are you not as angry about other players who have had poor seasons, all seems to about Austin, his wife and stories from his past which have nothing to do with this season
I don't see you posting about Stefan Johansens personal life or looking into things Dion Sanderson did years ago. It's absolutely bizarre and been going on for months

I fail to see how he has undermined the manager, even on the latest podcast interview he is praising Warburton

Podcast is really good and I would recommend everyone to listen to it

Seems the decision by the DOF to delay the contact talks had a bit of an effect on the players

Had a listen to it this afternoon and I agree it's a must listen. Do wonder if LF, LH or at least someone will come out and give the clubs side of the decisions being made as players and fans a like seem to be in the dark here. The silence is defeaning.

Good listen & Charlie is so gutted about it & a tearful Bianca, I can see both sides to this, club obvious reasons Finance, but could’ve been handled better & really should’ve waited for a new manager to decide who he wants & who to go & discuss with Les & coaching staff

Problem with that Jeff is people have been saying for weeks, that contract talks should at least have been started, in some cases completed way before now - don't agree myself, but tbf that seems to be the overwhelming view on here at least, so IF they had delayed further, no doubt those same people would be marching on the KPFS as we speak!

No right answer to this though as I think if the club say to Austin or anyone wait a few weeks till we get a new manager they could still be released but have a month less to find a new club. All ways of doing this has flaws

On the podcast, telling throw away line from Charlie in amongst the hand wringing over contracts - Charlie " Happens at all clubs in this country and throughout the whole world really"

But, no this is down to Les and Lee

I saw QPRs Insta post and I thought that was taking the piss really when it was us that didn't want him here. I'd be pretty upset if I was Austin and think that's a bit rich.
Salty response from him but understandable.

First and foremost we're a football club trying to run a business, we're not some pox ridden Netflix drama programme whereby the leading goalscorer gets binned because he's 33 bloody years old and the daft paying audience sat at home watching the gogglebox all burst into tears.
Jesus bloody wept I couldn't give two flying f uckpig f ucks what Hoos or Ferdinand said, and to be honest I have little or no sympathy for the 'wealthy' Charlie Austin, he's made a bloody good living out of football and he'll sure as hell get another club.

I've spent the most part of my working life in the construction industry watching and listening to people not getting paid--getting laid off at the end of the day as they're respective companies have gone bust overnight so I don't buy into this outpouring of grief for Charlie, he'll be alright don't worry about that, or do worry about that if It helps.

Put it another way If by the 17th December 2022 we're sitting third in the Championship one player who won't be cause for discussion will be Charlie, he'll be long forgotten.

Maybe the club could have handled It better, you know got him in and said here's a bouquet of flowers goodbye.

Loved the bloke no question about that but the club comes first all day long, I've got no choice about it whether I like I or not I have to have faith in the people running our club.

Charlie don't need our sympathy votes.

Agree with all that Ted. Charlie has been great served us well first time round came back did well not so much this season. Wish him well but we move on…

Yep, he said he apologised to the manager for his 'mad 10 minutes', admitted he wasn't playing well and we all moved on, something PRR won't ever be able to do I don't think.

Apologised? Did he do anything wrong? Thought they both found it hilarious? I don't suppose you might have called that one wrong PP?

You'll be pleased to know, now the rotten apple been thrown out of our barrel, I won't be giving a second thought to Mr Austin, so won't bore all with the 10+ obvious reasons why you cannot compare last season's Mr Austin with SJ or even Dion Sanderson.

Case closed, albeit at the expense imo of a one in a generation Manager who could finally have changed the downward trajectory of our club.

Hopefully Mr Austin keeps his nose clean wherever he turns up next year.
