Yeah got caught up in that outside the ground , horrible place worse than Luton imo
I honestly thought we were down after that game
That fat little sh1te Griffiths goading us lived long in the memory

Steve Slade up front...

My main memory of that game is one of our nutter fans running across the pitch from the corner of our end, and throwing himself him into the home fans on the other side.

1990 Q/F replay at Anfield. Beardsley scored after about three minutes, but from then on we were the better team.

Then had to sit in a dark compartment on the train home with no light bulbs and a broken window to boot.

Those lovely scallys.

Really thought we were going to Wembley that year

Anyone else remember a Friday night away game at Tranmere where someone had told their local Police that someone on the LSA coach was bringing a gun to the match?

Everyone who left the coach was subjected to a enhanced check whilst all other away fans were wizzed through.

Charlton at Selhurst Park, March 1990

It was the day of the 'Poll Tax' riot. I lived in Watford at the time and elected to take a fairly as-the-crow-flies motorbike ride through London.
The riot hadn't kicked off yet but the police presence was really big and the traffic so bad I didn't get to the ground until half time. Charlton still charged me full price to get in (at a time when clubs normally let you in half price) and we lost 1-0 to a last minute OG.

Although I didn't know about the riot (no internet in them there days) I decided to avoid central London on the way home and go via west London.

Big mistake, it was the Boat Race and was rammed solid.

I think I got home about 8-9 pm when around 6-7pm would be normal.

That was on a motorbike, dread to think when anyone in a car would have got home by.

I wasn't allowed to go to that one.

I also had some nutty QPR fan hold a knife to my throat on the way up to the 1990 game as he was showing me what he was gonna do to the scousers.

Ah, memories.

The Carlton Palmer hat-trick game.

Wasn't going to go up as was skint and uninterested. TK said we could have cheap LSA coach tickets as we went with them regularly and there was a low take up, so off we go.

Coach pulls up outside the ground quite early, old bill get on and say they'll lead us to the ground where soft refreshments are available, bollocks to that, out the emergency door and off we go, again.

Find a pub, Wednesday fans in there a good bunch, 2 rangers fans come in and pull knives out on us as "We shouldn't be friendly with them, we're not proper Rangers".

That gets sorted, off to the ground, not enough money for the seats our lot are in, so go in their terrace.

QPR are shit, Carlton Palmer scores a hat trick, fans giving racist abuse to Clive Wilson and co are cheering him. Joe Young, in the biggest terrace in England at the time, decides to loudly berate them on their hypocrisy and values. I tell him he's right but question the timing, but nothing's going to stop him now.

People in the QPR end now know where we are, as every SW fan is pointing at us and singing "He's only a poor little cockney..."

Eventually get back to the LSA coach, where not everyone is happy with our earlier escape - TK thought it was all very funny, mind.

RIP Joe and TK, both much missed.

Travelled back on the train from Liverpool with Joe, the game 3 days after milk cup semi, we took less than 100 this time, carriage is full of London scousers, without warning Joe gets his dick out and starts pissing in the middle of the carriage!

Villa away in May 1977 as I almost got stabbed, had my scarf nicked and got back to Euston to find Liverpool and Man Utd fans brawling on the eve of the cup final.Closely followed by Bristol city for the march to the ground, getting trodden on by a police horse, pool balls and other objects being thrown at us by the wurzels,a 1-0 defeat and Stanley breaking his leg.

villa away, early january 1978.
about 20 of us on that big empty open away terrace.
13 of us travelled up by transit van, two windows on the back doors got smashed to pieces with bricks after the game.
all the usual suspects in the van, plus our little lot from the suttons.
victor and his mate gerry (rip) took it in turns to drive.
not a good start, broke down near luton, had to phone the brakedown service, while waiting, we all piled in the luton crest hotel for beers and food.
parked up nearer to the holte end, not a wise choice. met the kinghams up there, plus a couple of others, totaling no more than 20/25 in all qpr. after the game was lambs to the slaughter. we were surrounded and picked on from all sides, ob van was the saviour, and escorted us back to our van, but left us to get ambushed on the junction of witton road and some other road, thats where our windows got ploughed.

all for the love of rangers.....

It was my first away game outside London,so we took Daphne’s special train. We were the only 2 rangers fans in the seats as almost all of our fans were behind the goal.I went for a slash after about 85 minutes and returned to about 20 Villa fans sat around us.One of them turned round and said that we’d better get out as they were going to attack us.It was good of him to warn us rather than just pile in on a couple of 16 year olds.
The next season I went to Birmingham city and I said to my mate that we’ll go on the terrace this time, only to find that the clever qpr fans had gone in the seats for this game.It didn't take long to be outed as rangers fans and we spent the whole game avoiding the brum thugs.

St Andrews New Year’s Day 1980, severely hungover, kin freezing, snow ,lost 2-1,mates car broke down on the way home, never done a Jan 1st game since.

I was there too, 11 years old with my non-footballing dad. Got us tickets in a packed home end, and I was on my feet celebrating Allen's opener with passion, when I slowly realised I was the only one. A few sharp looks, but thankfully was able to sit there and watch a miserable defeat without trouble.

Trip home from Old Trafford when they decided to paint the bridge over the motorway.

Coach having to stop not far from Stockport as drivers hours were up.

Been way too many defeats I could mention. Oxford, Swindon, Forest every season for years. The Premier League Mercenaries not even trying at Man City

The worst trip though was easily taking the call from The Players Coach on the way to Burnley, before it was public knowledge that the game was off. Even Burnley didn’t know.

RIP Ray Jones.

Haha, this reminds me of a trip to Forest v Liverpool with a Forest supporting mate in the 80s. In the pub before the game and this quite obvious loony was telling us how he'd spent the morning "bashing scousers" and was looking forward to resuming this activity later. We made our excuses and left.

Ray Jones game is up there for me. I had a large night before and was on the train wondering why there were no fans. I was approached by three people asking for money at Burnley Central whilst I waited for the train to come back on the single track. I ended up wondering around the Sainsburys as it seemed the safest thing to do. All of that added to the misery that a budding star had died and my hangover.

A couple of others I want to add - I went to Roots Hall twice, combined score 9-0. And not to us. Horrible all round.

And finally, a random one probably personal to me - I was in a bad place and went to Preston on a last minute whim. Super excited that we were winning and Youl Mawene headed in a 90th minute equaliser. I just felt sick, typical, typical QPR and had the long train home to wallow in my woes of the time!

Probably the same bloke who came into the pub in Blackpool 1990 cup game, asked if were Rangers then told us “ I’m not here for any trouble but we’re meeting Blackpool fans by the pier at midnight if you’re interested “ he then flashed his flick knife and left, had never seen him before but after that always caught sight of him at away games, we gave him the nickname “flick knife” and just tried to avoid any eye contact with him.

I got the supporters coach up to Everton in the late 80’s and I went in the Stanley Arms with the bloke id been sitting next to on the coach. As we walked through the door this bloke shouted out “I f@cking hate Scousers.”
I left him to it and found somewhere else to drink.

Brizzle City early 70s. We parked near the ground. Not much trouble in or around the ground.. Don Givens scored twice in a 2-1 win.
Got back to the car to find all 4 tyres had been slashed..
Took a couple of hours and a lot of money to get it sorted.
Got home about midnight cold miserable and skint.

Ipswich away . Outside the ground fighting everywhere. I walked between 2 parked cars to avoid it caught my leg on the bumper and fell my mate thougt I had been hit
so hit the bloke next to him which resulted in a street fight.

Leeds away, FA Cup 5th round. February 1987, freeeezing fookin' cold.

I got complimentary tickets from a supplier of ours who had season tickets there. One problem.... it was in the home end (west stand).
I went on a National Express coach with my brother and an old boy from work who managed to blag us into a working mans club before the game.
We got to the ground and went to our respective stands (he in the away end of course).

In what was Leeds biggest home gate (31k) for 5 years, we spent 90 mins keeping very quiet especially when we equalized. A bloke in a wheelchair at the front of the stand had to be caught and pulled back as he was about to make his way across the pitch to confront the QPR fans!!

Had to look 'happy' when Leeds got a late winner.

Had tickets to go to the player's lounge afterwards. My god Seaman was big, hands like dinner plates.

Coach trip home was 'fun' being full of southern (as in indigenous southerners, not people who have moved down from Yorkshire) Leeds fans.

A mate of mine went up by mini bus and one of the group left a QPR scarf on the seat. When they got back all the windows had been smashed in and they couldn't do more than about 30mph it was so cold and took them hours to get home.
