Delaney 17:37 - Nov 10 with 7590 viewsinthenet

I think we need to bring back Delaney to give us a back up in the centre of defence.
We looked so lacking today in that area.

We need to get McShane under contract until the summer, why was he missing on Sunday, as BBM said anything.

I would not recall Delaney, in fact I would try to sell him to Wimbledon, we still need cover at CD and LB, so we need BBM to start looking around for cover, besides a striker.

McShane went off injured against Ipswich.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Delaney would be a step backwards. EOC and McShane are a great partnership and the back four’s looked pretty solid since that partnership has been about. If McShane’s out for a while then McLaughlin’s return as well as Matheson’s rise means we can put Keohane in central defence aside EOC. He had one of his best games of the season playing there earlier.

Delaney’s Dale career is done, in my opinion.

Neutral here at the game tomorrow - curious as to what you lot reckon makes Keohane potentially a good defender? I'm sure I remember Exeter fans talking about him a few years ago as an attacking player.

Is this Gabriel of Football Lab fame? I think we've had a few brief chats on Twitter if so.

Basically, Keohane isn't that great a defender. He's a little lightweight and doesn't really look comfortable there at full-back to me, though you have to admire that he's slotted in and tried to do a job in all three positions across the back.

Strangely, arguably his best performance for us so far came at centre-back at Old Trafford, but he's never going to displace McShane or McNulty there alongside O'Connell in the long-term. Plus, United were never going to be quite as direct and as physical as some of the teams we see in League One, so his lack of physicality was less likely to be exposed. He seems to have been used as a right-back both this season and last season as one of the back-ups to McLaughlin (who seems to be incredibly injury-prone) in order to ensure Matheson doesn't suffer from burn-out given his young age and especially given his recent involvement with the England youth sides.

It seems to me that Keohane is quite a tidy player of the ball, which BBM clearly values in every position and he seems to carry out instructions well. Basically, he's ended up being a relatively decent player to have because we can slot him into a few different positions and although he may not be the most effective in any of them, he can do a job in all, which is valuable given that we have a fairly small squad and plenty of injuries. That said, he has had a couple of really poor games and I think his lack of experience in at full-back has been really obvious when that's been the case.

I definitely remember him playing more as a number 10 during his time with Exeter.

Tangled up in blue.

Keohane fits the squad because of that versatility but to anyone who knows their football he’s never going to be a first choice or a standout player.

In the past, again when the club maintained the policy of spending what we can afford, we’ve had someone like Rhys Bennett performing a similar role.

Jamie Clark as well

If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor
