Awwwww feck,

when i was 15, i used to get dropped off at Bray studios between maidenhead and windsor for the day. they all knew me there and i pretty much had the run of the place as a 15 year old. very cool.

one day i get dropped off and they ate making a movie called 'loophole', and i was on set a lot of the time helping the crew move stuff, set up lights etc.
on the first day i met Albert and Martin Sheen and got on well, so wel, that they used to give me cans of drink at lunch in their trailer while they watched the golf on the telly.

truly nice guys, and im gutted Albert has gone. RIP mate, a real gent.

Great actor, sad to read of his demise. While most of today’s thespians can play a working class role, Finney was the real thing and, as we often say nowadays, nigh impossible to replace.

I know it Christmas when we pull Scrooge with him and Alec Guinness in it, out of the cupboard to watch on a cold, December Sunday afternoon

Really underrated film that. Got unfairly compared to Oliver Twist when it came out. But Finney is magnificent and he's really young then too. Wonderful performance - and Thank You Very Much is a classic.
Love him, great actor.

Bare bones.

Loved Albert Finney especially in Two for the Road with the gorgeous Audrey Hepburn. Also Charlie Bubbles and the TV movie A Rather English Marriage. RIP.

Great actor. Enjoyed all his films such as Tom Jones and Saturday Night and Sunday morning. I also enjoyed seeing a superb National Theatre production when he played the title role of Tamburlaine the Great. RIP

I watched that again just a month ago. I’ve just realised he was 53 at most when he made it - younger than Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise now, more than 10 years younger than Denzel Washington and Liam Neeson - but he looked like my mother in law. Good to see he didn’t let his choice of career interfere with the rest of his life.

RIP.

He was tremendous in Erin Brockovitch, and this is such sad news.

My Dad saw that lovely touch of Finney washing his hands in the stream of lathe lubricant and snorted "That's the quickest way to get dermatitis!" Nice bit of realism by the writers.

A couple of my favourite Finneys: Churchill in The Gathering Storm, so much better than Oldman, and the insane old dipso lead actor to Tom Courtenay's harried stagehand in The Dresser.

RIP Albert. You made gravitas look easy.

Hey, Danny Paddox, here's a bit for us afficionados:

"In 1965, he formed Memorial Films in association with Michael Medwin to produce theatrical features, which included Charlie Bubbles (1968), If.... (1968), Gumshoe (1971), Bleak Moments (1971), O Lucky Man! (1973) and Law and Disorder (1974)." IMDb
