Voting based on a guess on what the vote meant has proved to be what we all have done, as nobody, even the MP's responsible for taking us out, seem to have an idea of what it actually entails.

Maybe but I would guess lol that those that voted leave knew what the EU was giving/taking and decided they did not want what was on offer.

Even in the parts that were getting very good subsidies such as parts of Wales voted to leave.

Wales etc, were promised by the leave campaign that any subsidies they lost would be made up in full ..... let's see!

Well it's not just that, I would also guess.. there I go again.. that they did not want to be part of a federal state/government or in the words of remainers they are all racists.

What do you think ?

It was up to us to research it . When we were told stuff look it up. Decide whether the person saying it had a vested interest in that view .

Does anyone really have a clue how the next 5 years will pan out? All the leavers HOPE that the UK will bounce back but they have done a real shot in the dark for all our kids futures. If it works out great, if not then we are in real trouble!

The Welsh don't want to be in a federal state / government ? I take it therefore that you think they should be able to leave the UK?

Really though the truth is that there are a whole range of opinions and reasons why people voted the way they did, some would have voted out /in no matter what the consequences, others I'm sure believed some of the lies put out by both sides and had their choice swayed accordingly.

On the subject of racists, only a complete idiot would believe that all those who voted leave were racist, however .... if someone were indeed a racist which way would you predict they voted

Sorry that's avoiding the question, the markets etc. can predict how things will proceed if things stay the same. When a massive spanner is thrown in the works then all bets are off!

The markets react to things , they dont predict them . The market doesnt like uncertainty , because they dont know how to react . There was no certainty in voting to stay , anyone of three member states could vote in a party offering a referendum this year alone. That is without the basket cases of economys of at least another 4 members , vast youth unemployment, slow or no growth . We are just the first to the lifeboats IMO ...

Define Racist

If I generally dislike the Frence, and I do, does that make me a racist, even though I have Frence friends.

If I dislike open borders being in a country that has suffered 8 years of austerity under the government and feel that the uncontroled influx of people has a detrimental effect on the infrastructure, that makes me a racist?

Only it's seems to me people are not allowed to dislike anymore for fear of being labeled a racist.

True but when one of the main players ups and leaves then that causes mayhem. As I said if all you leavers are really sure that everything will be alright then fine. But don't you have just a tiny doubt that it all might go t*ts up blg time?

Honestly ? No .. There will be bumps along the way no doubt but dont underestimate the ability of this country to adapt and make money and prosper .
An immigration policy that welcomes people with thanks because they fill a genuine gap, then we can plan and take genuine refugees with public support .
I would like to see us establish a common world trading block , an alternative to EU membership , nothing more than you buy ours , we buy yours .

The term rascist IMO has been so overused as a silencing weapon that the whole issue has been diminished .
Anyone who lived through the 70s will know what the real thing is , its nasty pernicious and dangerous.

They absolutely do predict them.

That is why often you'll hear that some big news hasn't affected the markets because it had been widely predicted and priced in.

You don't make money reacting to events (though obviously you have to if you failed to predict the event.) You make money by correctly predicting something and buying or selling accordingly before everyone else. Since everyone else is trying to do the same thing, the market as whole is predicting future trends. Often wrongly of course.

Exactly. And it's precisely this that is why markets don't like uncertainty; it makes predicting events much trickier.

You did

"On the subject of racists, only a complete idiot would believe that all those who voted leave were racist, however .... if someone were indeed a racist which way would you predict they voted "

The idea that not all leave voters are racists but all racists are leave voters is novel coming from somebody from the left

If the weather forecast says its going to be hot are they predicting ice cream shares will go up ?
My take is that they are reacting to the weather forecast .

Happy to concede the point though ....

Just to add my tuppence into this, in your weather forecast analogy they aren't reacting to the forecast, they are predicting what the forecast impact will be to certain share prices. Generally speaking, the predictions are based on various bits of information analysts, fund managers, brokers etc gather and then make a prediction on what to invest in.

Saying that, there can be reactions too. If you've got a stop order for instance, you'll buy or sell at a predetermined price. Once a security hits that price you'll do the trade. In this case you're obviously reacting to the price.
