is fecking bad. on the town in Belfast tonight and after six pints of stout i had to come home. normally guinness doesn't give me the heartburn so this is a very worrying scenario.
Ive given up drinking twice since this thread was posted. :) I still get bad heartburn and I think it's due to years of abusing Alcohol. I've started drinking again but in moderation which means its only when I go out these days rather then drinking at home. I stopped for just over a year and it does recalibrate the drinking habit.
Yeah the omeprazole I advocate on here eventually became less effective - I was on it for a good 15 years I'm sure. Ended up having heart complications up Ben Nevis that were apparently triggered by gastric stuff, was signed off for 5 months while they looked into it, then had full on fundoplication surgery last Spring in which they basically wrap your stomach three quarters of the way round your oesophagus and you spend the next 6 weeks eating soup!
So there's at least a couple of lessons in there I'm sure...

I relocated to cheap (American)domestic fizzy beers, well for the most part. Certainly reduced all my previous maladies.
