Now Tottenham Want Ward Prowse ! Tuesday, 25th Aug 2020 10:34 It seems that Tottenham Hotspur want to become the new Liverpool by signing up half of our squad, if I was a Spurs fan I would be questioning their club's ambition or at least the motives of their manager.
It has been reported that James Ward-Prowse has emerged as a shock target for Tottenham Hotspur, Jose Mourhinho seems determined to revamp the whole of his midfield and having signed one Saints player is now said to covet another.
But if he signed the Saints captain then he would have to offload as he would be top heavy in midfielders with not only his the new number one Superstar of North London Pierre Emile Hojbjerg, but also the likes of Harry Winks, Dele Ali, Erik Lamela, Eric Dier, Moussa Sissoko, Tanquy NDombele, Giovani, Lo Celso & Ryan Sessegnon, that is a lot of midfield talent & Ward Prowse having just signed a five year deal at St Mary's would cost a lot more money than Hojbjerg.
Mourinho seems to have lost the plot in the past few years, at Real Madrid he won the League but could not get past the semis in the Champions League, a return to Chelsea saw him win the League cup and the Premier League in his second season and then leave by "Mutual Consent" 16 games into his third season just months after signing a new four year deal.
His time at Manchester United saw him win both the League cup and Europa League in his first season, but he could get nowhere near the Premier League title and in his third season he was sacked by United just before Xmas 2018.
He bided his time and was appointed Spurs boss last December, there is no doubt that he is one of the great managers, but his past is way behind him, he is no longer the go to guy to win a title, having won only 2 in the last 10 seasons, the last 5 years ago.
At Manchester United his arrival was shrouded in controversy when he persued Jose Fonte a client of his close friend Jorge Mendes and was allegedly almost sacked by the club as they smelt something rotten going on.
At Spurs it seems he is willing so buy buy buy, spending almost £60 million in the January transfer window, but there are questions of whether Spurs have the money to do much business this window without some big sales.
Saints are not likely to sell Ward Prowse unless they get a massive offer they can't turn down and Spurs don't have the money for that, so unless Dele Ali fancies a move to the South Coast then it is hard to see how they can do business with us, also James Ward Prowse is not Pierre Emile Hojbjerg, a player whose head can be turned by an agent that senses money to be made, not to mention that five year deal signed just a week or so ago. This one seems to be lazy journalism by those looking to find a headline in a slow week, the same headlines that still link us with every right back in Europe despite the fact that we have just signed Kyle Walker-Peters and still have Yan Valery.

No it couldn't happen, no,........ could it? No, I'm not even going to think about it. Don't want to build my hopes up. Some journalists can be cruel.

Didn't just sign a 5 year contract..? I realise that they aren't worth the paper they are written on nowadays, but wouldn't this bump up the transfer fee big time? Why didn't they get in there beforehand? I smell the usual BS.

Can't help but feel this one is just media driven rubbish.. Having established himself as a first choice player, team captain, having signed a brand new 5yr contract and along with being well liked and admired by fans I struggle to see how this is even remotely likely. Add to that the 5yr contract would put significant value to JWP's overall cost and given that Levy is a tight fisted so and so, i'm pretty sure he'd be reluctant to spend out when other players are available for less

Ha, so it's taken barely 2 weeks for Spurs to work out that they bought the wrong center mid from Saints! Or maybe an administrative error and they got their PEH, JWP KWP letters all mixed up when working from home ! Jog on Spuds.

We all know JWP signed a 5 year contract....but so did van Dijk. Spurs are supposed to be broke....yet the borrowed a lot of money, at very cheap rates, which was meant to help businesses hit by Corona virus. Should Spurs offer stupid money....should JWP want to go.....can we stop it? My big fear is the domino effect....Ings....Ralph..... We developed this arrogant belief we could continue selling our best players and still compete... The board would do well to nip these rumours in the bud and issue a short...NO

He isn’t going to Tottenham! I mean give me a break 😂! For starters why would Tottenham go for prowse when they know he’s just sighted a 5 year contract, has been with us for the whole of his life and gets to play every week in a key position in which we’re missing players for (because of Hojberg!)!? I mean this is clearly the newspapers just trying to get a few extra spurs fans reading the papers as we’re not in any position wheee we may be forced to sell him and unless spurs offer like £100 mill for him I very much doubt the bored would sight a main team player, who’s also an academy graduate and playing in a key role where we’re low on players! Just the usual paper nonsense this is!

Never rated Mourinho! Goes to a top club with top team, wins trophies. When the team starts to fade and decline he can't halt the slide - Real Madrid, Chelsea twice. Not capable of buying in right players. Goes to a poor team (Man U) and can't rebuild. Same will happen at Suds, (I love taking the P out of them!) I'll bet the wife's money on it! JWP leave? HaHaHa appears to have more eithical nature than certain others who shall remain nameless, like Van Dick, PEH! New contract, captain, loved. Why go to a constant-failing club (speak big, win little) to be a bit-part player and the manager will be gone 2021/2022 when he IS Southampton.

What Mourinho has acheived is remarkable and given the resources he could possibly do something again. Finishing second with THAT United team and winning trophies was incredible. It might be that his style of football has now been superceeded by other managers but he beat Pep to the title in Spain. Maybe Pep is also a 'Yesterday's Man'. I had to laugh when he was announcing his 'Great signings'. I'm not sure if he was trying to convdince himself or the fans or just being sarcastic - I mean, Joe Hart! Spuds don't have the money for Ward-Prowse, I don't sense he wants to go and hopefully Steller Football Management are more responsible agents. Bobbins? Yes. Waxing lyrical over the signing of your third choice goalkeeper on a free? Yes but don't understate what Mourinho has acheived.

Ha ha. Like tight wad Levy would wait until JWP signed a new 5yr contract. Don't make me laugh! If they'd waned Prowsey they'd have got him on the cheap. Jog on, nothing to see here.

I think Itchen North is correct. This reminds me of the story of the American who bought the old London Bridge thinking he was getting Tower Bridge!

Perhaps Jose just noticed he bought wrong player in PEH and he thought it was JWP he bought?

What I would not rule our happening is that Mourinho gets sacked at Christmas and then they turn to our manager for a replacement. Ridiculous I hear you say - it could never happen - but would you bet against it?

I hope not just for the thought that Nick suggested they could swap JWP for Alli, I mean who would want to see that arrogant overrated p*&*k in a Saints shirt?!

Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league.
