Saints Pondering Bid For Austrian Midfielder Wednesday, 12th Jul 2017 10:19 Saints could be looking to replace Dusan Tadic with an under the radar signing from Werder Bremen. The man Saints are looking at is Zlatko Junuzovic currently at Werder Bremen who ironically given that it could be Serbian Dusan Tadic who he replaces was actually born in Serbia himself before moving to Austria aged 5 eventually making his name with Austria Wien leading to a move to the Bundesliga in 2012 where he has been a regular with Werder Bremen ever since playing 164 league games and scoring 19 times with numerous assists. He is desribed as a free kick specialist and with 52 caps for his country to his name has plenty of experience, the down side being that he will turn 30 in September, although Saints have shown in the past notably with Pelle, that although they prefer a younger player, sometimes if the deal is right age is no barrier. Junozovic is about to enter the last year of his contract and has showed no signs of signing a new one and Werder Bremen know that if they do not sell him now then he will go for free. He has been on Saints radar for the past year and they considered a bid last summer when it looked like Dusan Tadic may have left back then, but Tadic's decision to stay meant that they turned their attention to Claude Puel's man Sofiane Boufal instead. Trabzonspor in Turkey have tried to tempt him away, but he has rejected that move and is said to prefer a move to the Premier League. Newly promoted Huddersfield Town are said to have made an offer which the player and his agent are considering. Junuzovic's agent arrived at Werder's Austrian training camp in Zell am Ziller this week to sort out the midfielder's future and it could be a happy co incidence that Saints themselves have just arrived in Austria . The likely fee is uncertain, but gven the players age and the fact he is in the last year of his contract it could be attractive to Saints to bring in an experienced player on the cheap to stabilise their position after the turmoil of Puel.
