Brendan's Best Says Site Poll Sunday, 22nd Mar 2015 14:28 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews) Brendan Rodgers is the best Swans manager of the last ten years according to the most recent site poll run on this website. Rodgers' polled over 42% of the vote pushing Garry Monk (20%) and Roberto Martinez (16%) down to second and third place respectively. Rodgers spent two years in charge at Swansea between 2010 and 2012 and during that side led the team to the Premier League for the first time before keeping them there against all the odds when each 'expert' suggested that we would drop immediately back to where we came from. Rodgers' built on the excellent work of his predecessors when he was given the chance at Swansea with his managerial career seemingly on the scrapheap after a pretty poor spell at Reading had seem him out of work when he met with Huw Jenkins to discuss whether he would take over from Paulo Sousa. Less than twelve months later it looked one of the best appointments made in the history of the club when Rodgers led his side to the promised land after a 4-2 play off final win, ironically against Reading at Wembley. Almost as soon as that final whistle blew it was time for the Swans to be written off but Rodgers showed great faith with the side that took him to the top flight and the Swans not only stayed up but stayed up with plenty to spare as they ended the season with 47 points. That performance was enough to persuade Liverpool to make a move for the man who is still in charge at Anfield having almost guided them to a first league title in over 20 years last time around. And the two years that he was in charge at Swansea were enough to make Swans fans vote him the best manager of the last 10 years at the club.
