Thanks Theo & Oxo Wednesday, 2nd Jan 2013 09:24
Those Saints fans waiting to leaveSt mary's after the game had a pleasant surprise from two of Arsenal's players.
Before the Arsenal game I wrote of how both Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain should be warmly welcomed back to St Mary's for their first return to the club, in the case of Theo its been seven years since he left and with Oxo only eighteen months, but in a nice gesture from both players after the final whistle they showed that they still have a lot of affection for Southampton Football lub and its fans.
Both players came back on to the pitch after the game and walked to all sections of the ground and applauded the Saints fans who in turn applauded them back, in today's cynical game something of this nature is not seen very often with most players not caring who they play for as long as the money is big, Theo & Alex didnt have to do this, no one expected it and no one would have thought any different if they hadnt, but the fact is they did and it was appreciated by all who witnessed it.

I think it shows the class of the young men and tbh it made my evening. Nice to see that some footballers actually care about the club(S) they play for and its not ALL about the pay packet. Both players went to the Saints fans before they applauded the Arsenal fans. In Theo's case he was actually doing the Messiah bit with his arms to the Kingsland stand. Lovely to see.

I'm sure Theo was directing "I'm not worthy" gesture at the Northam! It actually bought a little lump to my throat, as NA ha stated continuously, us Saints fans are amazing and it's us that keep the team going in hard times. So our support should be universal and include supporting players who may be struggling, why bring them down and endanger the rest of the teams performance, support them and they will respond accordingly. If all our academy players prove to be as talented, intelligent and magnanimous as these 2, then Saints have an amazing future.

Class acts both of them-Extra props to Theo for his play against Newcastle, instead of rolling around on the ground as if he's been shot like Suarez and others, he gets right back up and scores a goal! Now that is a real footballer!

Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process.
