And Sir Les. |

There are so many, Brian. But, yesterday, having lunch with friends, I tried a Norwegian one which was brown in colour. Liked it. Now, what's the latest at QPR? |

'Shout out for Saito, I think the kid is really good and has plenty of skill. Varane getting up to speed and looking much better too. We're not finished yet!' So true. Take another look at the way he gets up high (!!!) in the Stoke penalty area, in the last minute, to get a header in. He couldn't get it on target but it was a great effort. |

Check whether Steve Cooper is in the stands at Cardiff. (Only joking). |
| Forum Reply | Cifuentes gone? at 20:22 24 Nov 2024
I do not want Marti Cifuentes to leave. I do not see how he can go from the raved-about manager who dug QPR out of a hole last season, built such a reputation that it caused fans to worry that he would be snapped up by a bigger club, to being incapable of saving QPR from relegation in 2024-2025. It does not make sense. I am worried, however, that his departure is already planned. Did I read somewhere that David Wagner was seen at Loftus Road recently, or did I imagine that? |
| Forum Thread | Plymouth's fire power at 09:50 23 Nov 2024
Plymouth Argyle have had problems scoring goals (was it zero shots at Leeds?) but did anyone see Andre Gray's two goals for them last night? Not much good at 'pressing' but he knows what that white-painted structure is behind the opposition's defence. [Post edited 23 Nov 9:51]

A very long time ago, not far from Swindon, my wife and I were married... ... by an exorcist. He, Canon Harman, might have been able to help Ollie, but he was already rather elderly (and busy) when he officiated. |

Should we tell the County Cricket Club? BTW - born between Wembley and Greenford (Middlesex) and I regard that as west London 2 |
| Forum Reply | Mark Warburton interview at 10:33 14 Nov 2024
Intended to listen for a few minutes but I stayed to the end. Excellent interview. Mark was honest (it seems) but suitably diplomatic. Interesting angle that young bosses don't want older, more experienced people working under them. With the set-up at QPR today, it's a wonder that we do not have a coach who is in his teens (OK, only joking). |
| Forum Reply | Fan Mobilisation - Nourry Out at 09:13 13 Nov 2024
Agreed. Nourry's appointment may have been a mistake, but debating his future is a massive distraction and something that the QPR Board will deal with if and when they deem it necessary. My interest is in what happens on the pitch. The manager and the players have a job to do - grind out points and get us out of the drop zone. Whose fault it is that we have a squad that is struggling is of interest - but, for the moment, it is of far less interest than how Marti can get the best out of the resources at his disposal. |
| Forum Reply | What's the next move? at 09:03 12 Nov 2024
Could we add an option something like 'What must happen next is about what happens on the pitch and other issues will have to wait'? |
| Forum Reply | Have you ever left early... at 09:01 12 Nov 2024
I have left a QPR match early only once. That was a big game in 1986. We were losing 3-0 to Oxford. I missed nothing by leaving and years later, I learned that it had all been an illusion and that the match had not really taken place. What a relief. |
| Forum Reply | Savage amusement - Report at 12:58 11 Nov 2024
You are right, Dave, but although recruitment may have caused the problems on the pitch, it is on the pitch that we have to fix them - a job for the players and their coach. |
| Forum Reply | Savage amusement - Report at 08:38 11 Nov 2024
Nourry should go? Maybe, but the trouble is, he is not a player. It is the players that have to turn this around. If Nourry is picking the team or deciding the tactics, that's another matter. But, if his sins were committed in the summer transfer window, then they are a mere distraction at the moment. For now, the club must focus on what happens on the pitch. |
| Forum Reply | Is this season written off already? at 21:00 9 Nov 2024
The question was 'Is this season written off already?' The answer has to be 'no'. We are about 65 points off a play-off place, with 31 games to play. There is no point in thinking about that. Success is now survival in the Championship and the first target has to be pulling away from the relegation places. But, six first choice players are missing at the moment (Clarke-Salter, Paal, Chair, Colback, Dembele and Frey). Their availability would improve the team immensely, but it looks likely to be weeks before that happens. In the meantime, Marti has to use every power that he possesses to get some points with what he has at his disposal. Forget the arguments about poor recruitment policies and who is to blame. He must earn his corn and the fans can help by accepting the situation and helping him and the team battle through it. It is, first and foremost, about survival. |
| Forum Reply | MC has got to go at 22:18 5 Nov 2024
It seems as though Marti has a bigger job to turn it round than he had last season. A scary thought, but I have not given up. |

I was there in SAR with Mrs Kernowhoop. Couldn't remember much detail except a) not being happy at going behind and b) West Ham goalkeeper (Day?) strolling well up the pitch when, in a previous fairly recent game, he had conceded when someone spotted him and lobbed the ball beyond him into the goal. |

Agreed, Digger. Especially about the Penlee Lifeboat disaster. I was living in Polperro in December 1981 and one evening there was a tremendous storm. We went down to the sea to watch it, not knowing then what was going on farther west. I know what you mean about 'welling up'. I have listened to the recording of the communications between the Penlee (Mousehole) lifeboat and the coastguards as the lifeboat crew try to rescue the seamen on the 'Union Star'. Eventually, it goes silent. That is a lump in the throat moment. We use terms like 'hero' rather loosely at times. Those people - commemorated in Mousehole- were true heroes. |
