I think the concept that the Premier league has made football worse is a fallacy of the older fan. As Wizzler says, Brentford, Forest , Bournemouth and so on show you can compete in the top league if you have very good owners, manager, recruitment and luck. Football is massively more popular with a whole swathe of the population of the planet. ..rich and poor , old and young and both sexes...... these really are the good old days now. |

Not that I'm defending Russell's delusion that mediocrity can just turn up and outplay top class opponents. But..Arsenal are 9 points ahead of Newcastle .. |

A very subjective list. Personal memory matters alot to me in who I'd pick whilst recognising clear greats from the past like Channon, Davies and Paine. I'd have Lallana and Danny Wallace as I loved watching both them tear apart defences. |

For me Armstrong has literally done absolutely nothing in the Prem. I can't recall one game where he was outstanding , dangerous or any real threat . Sulemana showed against UTD that he can terrify a defence and this will lead to goals and goal chances. Onuachu can score goals with both his head and feet, he is is decent at holding up and receiving the ball centrally under pressure. His height cause defences to panic and it opens up opportunities for others as well as him to score. Both have their limitations and I suspect neither are the long term answer. Armstrong just runs about a lot but ultimately is ineffective .He lacks the strength and technique required and just gets crowded out when he attempts a shot. Why do we need to keep him and waste money on wages when it just doesn't work for him , it doesn't make sense and personally I couldn't give a monkeys about what he did at Wembley now....great at the time..thank you Adam. Premier league is ruthless . In the past we binned off Billy Sharp ho is similar to Armstrong because we were a better club then and understood he wasn't good enough and acted accordingly |

Onuachu was never really given a chance unless you count 2 or 3 starts under Selles. He now looks our best if limited option up front. Armstrong just does not cut it at this level. He's had over 80 games and 6 goals is seriously not good enough . Sulemana was never going to work under Russell Martin' possession based style. No one is saying they are our saviours , just possibly better players with attributes that work in the Premier league. Good luck to Armstrong. Hopefully he'll scores goals at a level he's proven at and come back to us next season and carry on from where he left off. |

His play off final goal was a 130 million gift to the club. He'll always be fondly remembered for that and his goals and assists in the Championship. Personally I never rated him even in the Championship let alone the Prem where he's had three seasons of failure. Good luck to him. |

Sadly both Taylor and Flynn have not stepped up this year and look like top championship players but not good enough for this level. Shocking really , considering how good they were last season. |

Spot on Grumps with regards to how we've become a Premier League whipping boy compared to the glory days in the 80s. It's more about whether you feel football in general has changed for the better or worse. Personally I think both! |

He's pacy and our best finisher. It's a shame we've not figured out a way to regulary feed him the ball in and around the oppos penalty area. He's been pretty useless when he has to drop deep. |

Agree about the ridiculous amount of money that drives the big boys forever onwards and upwards , particularly the oil rich state owned clubs . 500k a week wages for Haaland is just mental. But in 83/84 when we finished 2nd our average attendance was 18,000 with a 24,000 capacity. We are now witnessing the likelihood of our worst season in our 140 year history yet we get 30,000 fans in a 32,000 capacity. ....football has never been more popular than it is now. |

Too many old boys on here moaning about the good old days. Time moves on relentlessly. I'm sure many of our dad's and grandads moaned about how terrible football had become in the 70s/80s/90s. I'm sure this young generation will be doing exactly the same in 20 years time. |

Watched the game last night. God it was awful. Zero quality. Well done Lions. |

Dragan has just been interviewed on Talk Sport. He made it clear that Juric is staying here for next season. He said they're putting a better structure in place to support the manager including players that fit his style.....mmmm. Time will tell. |
