It was quite a fluke. We finished 9 points off the automatic promotion places, both Leicester and Ipswich did the double over us and we got thrashed 5-0 by Leicester and Sunderland. We then came up against an even worse West Brom team and a Leeds team whose form had fallen off a cliff. [Post edited 4 Mar 10:36]

The old rules of right vs left have gone out of the window, just as they did in 1939, when Hitler made a pact with Stalin, in spite of the fact they were at opposite ends of the political spectrum. Of course, they didn't really like each other and were destined to fall out. It's about trade wars and real wars now and, as countries realign, another unlikely alliance of Europe, Canada and China is not out of the question. Putin teaming up with Trump, who is waging a trade war against China, is going to have them looking elsewhere for friends. [Post edited 4 Mar 10:19]

 | Forum Reply | Maybe Danny Rohl is coming at 09:33 4 Mar 2025
Just look at the table. There are 3 teams in the Championship miles clear of the rest. Wednesday are 13th and sliding down the table. They are 31 points behind Leeds, have lost 2 more games than they've won and have a goal difference of -9. Rohl is performing even worse at Wednesday than Nathan Jones did at Luton and Russell Martin did at Swansea. Meanwhile, Ralph at Wolfsburg is well and truly disproving the ludicrous theory that his success was due to Rohl. If we take an even more mediocre Championship manager than the previous ones, we can only expect even worse results. [Post edited 4 Mar 19:20]

Let's hope not. Who will be sacked first? Wednesday are even worse than Saints. They've lost their last 5 games and have only won 1 of their last 11. Their defence is shocking and only 2 teams in the Championship have conceded more goals than them. [Post edited 3 Mar 21:12]

Saints fans were awesome at the BIC: one of the loudest boxing crowds I've ever heard. Any Bournemouth fans there were keeping very quiet. Juric was included as part of Ryan Garner's team, which is why he had a ringside seat and was invited into the ring afterwards. Garner appeared at half-time during the Spurs game at St Mary's and if he gets a world title fight, that's where he wants it to be. He's said that many times. Of course, whoever the defending champion is at the time will determine the venue. If Garner won the title, then his first defence would be at St Mary's, possibly against Royston Barney-Smith, which would be a massive fight. I hope it happens. [Post edited 2 Mar 21:06]

Liverpool fans look very envious. I wonder if it will shift the balance of power on Merseyside like City's move to their new stadium did in Manchester? [Post edited 2 Mar 20:34]

Both to meet at the big South Coast derby final that everybody wants. Anyway, it looks like there will be a 6th different team to win the FA Cup in 6 years, and it will probably be another different winner next year. The last time there were 6 different winners in 6 years was in the 1980s. Any top flight team can win it nowadays, but no second tier team has won it since West Ham in 1980. [Post edited 2 Mar 20:23]

and North Korea. He's aligning himself with other dictators. It's very reminiscent of what happened in the 1930s. If Trump had been president then, he certainly wouldn't have been on our side. You may view it as isolation, but, together, the USA and Russia can do whatever they like in the rest of the world. [Post edited 1 Mar 9:19]

I read today that this could be the worst 3 teams ever relegated, with a record low combined points total. |

I was in the Gorbals more than 50 years ago, when it was the UK's most notorious slum for social deprivation and gang violence. There was a layer of sawdust on the pub floors because men suffered from lung disease and so had to hawk up phlegm constantly, but I don't recall seeing litter anywhere. People tried to do their best. |

Claudio Ranieri has finally sorted out the mess that Juric left behind at Roma. They're unbeaten in their last 10 games. [Post edited 26 Feb 17:35]

He's a busted flush now. It happens to nearly all managers, even the best. Mourinho is hopeless nowadays. We need someone on the up; not on the way down. The wheels of his bus have fallen off and it's now rusting in a scrapyard in Tranmere. [Post edited 26 Feb 11:58]

His last game as Saints' manager was a 2-2 draw away at Chelsea at the end of a 5-match unbeaten run. We came back from 2-0 down. The sacking seemed harsh at the time, but Cortese was ruthless in the pursuit of success and the next 2 managers, Pochettino and Koeman, proved to be better. |

Roma sacked him after less than 2 months. |

It's the one source of pride this season. Hopefully, any potential new owners out there will see what a great fanbase we have. |
