Stand Up & Be Counted But Address The Real Issues Not The Petty Ones
at 12:21 6 Jan 2025

…plus other commentators have suggested that Ankersen was useless at Brentford. And I would add that the fact that they have done very well AFTER he left and yet we have done TERRIBLY since he arrived is proof positive…

Couldn't agree with you more.
You get the feeling that they both think they are far too good for the Club; but their performances, probably because they want to avoid injury to keep their value up, are anything but…

Jack Stephens conspiracy theory…
at 15:34 5 Jan 2025

City Boy that is exactly my point. Because by getting sent off, arguably he showed he DID care and just couldn’t abide the current administration.
There are other posts on here suggesting the fans join in a demo of throwing tennis balls on to the pitch at the next home game(s); perhaps Captain Jack was just doing his own demo somewhat earlier…?

Jack Stephens conspiracy theory…
at 10:20 5 Jan 2025

Given the slow motion disaster that has befallen us, culminating in the Brentford fiasco, I cannot help but think that Captain Jack just might have been an expressing a massive amount of frustration with the entire set-up at SMS when he got himself sent off, if not the first time, certainly the second time (although conceivably both). Because had he been playing against the Bees, doubtless he would have been castigated, justified or not; but as he was AWOL, wasn't the entirety of the rest of the team shown up for what they are? ie a bunch of unfit, overpaid, barely Championship players?

So I may be crediting him with more nouse than he deserves, and of course he is no world-beater himself, but I just wonder whether he was also basically telling the world: “Sod this for a game of soldiers, I have completely had it with this load of idiots, they couldn't run a bath, and I want out.”

Dragan Solak has been legged over…
at 17:23 30 Dec 2024

I might just add that, no matter what Dragan Sloak may think as the biggest shareholder in SR, he still has only one vote on the SFC Board. In other words Kraft, Ankersen and Phil Parsons can, and from my understanding, have outvoted him.
So yes the buck does in theory stop with him but, for example, firing other Board members is not quite so straight forward as it may seem.

Dragan Solak has been legged over…
at 16:21 30 Dec 2024

I have been reading a lot on here about the incompetence of SR.
But are we not really talking about billionaire Dragan Solak being well and truly legged over by Ankersen - and Henrik Kraft as well?
Because all the decisions that have been made over the last couple of years have to be laid at the door of the Director of Football surely, be they about managers, or purchases and sales of players?
And if I was Mr Solak, I would be thinking that he has got himself tied up with a couple of guys who have cost him tens, if not hundreds, of millions of pounds.
Of course he knows full well that he isn’t the first billionaire who has been told a load of porkies by a couple of smooth-talking chancers and is now suffering the consequences.
But isn’t now the time for him to show us, the fans, exactly how much HE cares about the club and either
1. Fire that pair of incompetents? Or
2. Sell the club? Or
3. Conceivably both?

Has he been sacked yet??
at 09:06 21 Oct 2024

I think it highly unlikely that it would cost £10mill to sack him. £5 m I would think is nearer the mark. I don’t believe he is on more than £2.5m pa, £3m tops. And they could easily argue that he has not fulfilled his side of the management agreement etc. OK there may be a compensation package in the terms but£10 m would imply he’s on £3.5m+ which is unlikely. But even if you are right, then a new manager would not cost £10m, that’s ludicrous, Pep and Klopp might but no one else.
And in any case forgetting about probable player sales it would cost £70 m + in lost revenue if we were to get relegated so you need to do the math: punt say £10m to gain £70m. Sounds like a good bet to me.

How about Lallana as interim Player Manager
at 17:54 1 Oct 2024

I think it’s much more to do with how much faith Solak still has in Rasmus Ankersen’s black box. Because I reckon Moyes would just blow it up, in other words there has to be a board room bust up for there to be any change in managerial philosophy.

I half expect all the “give him a chance “ tosspots talking about how we can take lots of positives from the game.
I have one positive and that’s a positive affirmation of my long held view that RUSSELL MARTIN MUST MUST MUST BE FIRED

Nottingham Forest Game Matchday Thread

Forest are much better than I for one thought. We are not playing badly exactly. But they are just closing us down a lot and getting forward fast and pressing hard. But equally I think they do look a bit vulnerable if we can get behind them. But as we all know if is a very big word.

What have learned from the Euros so far?
at 22:08 24 Jun 2024

Am I the only person who thinks that Scotland were utter rubbish for all their games- and I’m a Scot !
And as for our wonderful strike? Well the entire team only had three shots on target in three games. And LBH, Che showed himself to be exactly what most of us have thought for a while, ie he’s no better than an average championship player at best.

Now Broja on the other hand in tonight’s Spain Albania clash was real class!
We must try and get him back if we can…

Transfer Rumour Thread
at 09:00 10 Jun 2024

PatfromPoole I entirely agree with you except the bit about older players.
The fact is that because we have a decent solvent -viz Everton! - owner, we seem to be linked with every Tom Dick or Harry whose contract is coming to an end or is available on a free.
I really don’t think our transfer boys are so nutty as to be thinking about getting a Dads Army full of past-their-best- but-experienced (what ever that is worth) players just because they are around.
So given that the Rasmus Ankersen black box seems to have worked to a degree - I admit I am saying that through clenched teeth - so every Ryan Fraser is worth a Sulemana, I reckon by and large younger players with potential who will fit into the system are where will be looking. And forget all the Fontes, Ings, Lallanas, even JWPs (sadly). Too old.

The case for sticking with Russell Martin
at 20:38 30 Apr 2024

Nice article but boll*cks I’m afraid (IMHO)
It’s not a question of what RM has achieved with the squad but what he HASNT!I
My definition of a good manager is one who can take B and C players and turn them into an A team.
RM unquestionably has not done that. In fact I would argue that he has taken a number of A/B players - eg Brooks, Charles, Fraser, Rothwell - and turned them into B/C players because of his addiction to a dead end system.
He’s cr*p and the sooner the owners realise this the better.
And I’m afraid that, if you really think that “it maybe wise to give a manager a bit more time than just one season after finishing 4th”, I can promise you that mid-table mediocrity is all you will end up with.
Maybe that is what you are happy with. I for one am not. I want to support a club with AMBITION, something which i think does not chime with us finishing (a pretty lukewarm) 4th.

The only saving grace from yesterday’s dire performance…
at 07:52 28 Apr 2024

…was that the head of SR, Dragan Solak, was there to witness it.
And if he has only the minutest amount of knowledge of English football, surely he must have seen how utterly terrible we were, with all our pointless tippy-effing tappy?
Of could it just possibly be that the players were doing it on purpose so that they could show him what a cr*p team they’ve been turned into by you-know-who…?
