You're spot on as ever Mick. Change of ownership is a separate thing, can occur whenever I think and just now I for one hope tis nowt but a rumour. There's the seeds of recovery since November and whilst management and players deserve the credit for that Mr Cowling has backed them and destabilising the current situation would be a drag. I'm hoping the day passes quietly and we keep Tovide and invest in what we have until May when I really hope we make the top half. How long it must be since we had more wins than defeats I simply don't know and Saturday will be a great test of the progress made. As a little boy one of my first games was Walsall at LR and we won 5-1 having been four up in about half an hour. Good old Jimmy Oliver had a rare good day. Be lovely to repeat that at the weekend. |

Fingers crossed for you Durham it's time you saw a really decent win. If we won tonight it would certainly improve our record of just six wins in the first six months of the season!! I'm sure Saturday will be a tough game whereas I remain very positive about our ability to get summat against Port Vale next Tuesday. Up the almost mid table unheard-of U's |

Yes, well said Wessex, a terrific and loyal support for the time of year and level of the tournament. An unfortunate and undeserved result. We've now lost two last minute games with an abject performance sandwiched between. I hope we're not in danger of undoing the fragile confidence growing from the little run of draws, clean sheets and a couple of wins which was a hint of better times. A win at Bromley and something at Harrogate would be the tonic. |

Yep, can't argue with any of this Durham so maybe the Palace lad is a good call. For the life of me I couldn't understand Wilkinson being signed, misused then ignored. He's certainly reasserted himself at Solihull, hardly a huge drop down in standard from us at present. We've done very well with limited resources to drag ourselves away from the bottom but are still very close to it. I applaud the improved performance and effort. It's extremely difficult to turn around the culture of our club and sadly we can't appear attractive to new recruits. I agree with you progress was being made. It's tentative though and five wins in five and a half months is a hard fact. A replacement for Taylor/Tovide is crucial and who knows from where! We were clearly doing well defensively, that's now history and Noah hints at Egbo running on empty. Kelleher and Goodliffe must play - Terry was a bizarre call. The next month will reveal some answers but securing a mid table position is paramount. That may create a future platform. But as TooT says the money from sales (& if I were buying Tovide I'd wait, he's by no means the finished article) must be wisely used rather than wasted (Jay, Wilkinson) if there's any aspiration whatsoever to climb the table and have a tilt at escaping a league that is more competitive than many realise. Obvious comment I know but made with the best and most positive intentions! Up the 'stalled for the moment depleted U's" |

Hmm, I imagine Dundee's a more attractive proposition Durham. We do need midfield though. Chilvers and Mcgeechan have been missed and look how well they're doing . We must use Kelleher and Goodliffe at the back, fewer mistakes with them. Up front recruitment is necessary, maybe we should re-sign the on-fire Wilkinson! |

I don't doubt that you're right Wessex. It's just that the way neither he nor Wilkinson (look at his scoring record this season) were ever given the remotest chance to establish themselves feels like profligacy to me. We can't afford that. However I accept that there maybe stuff I don't know. |

Yes Crash, I like the idea of trying Lisbie. Non league has often been okay for us. I'd also reinvigorate Matt Jay who is a better player than Hopper and scores goals. Defensive mistakes still occur too often - especially the last two games - I'd try to play Kelleher more and look for another experienced back line player. As long as we cement the mid-table position I'm content given where we've come from. Realistically we have still only won five league games in five months but are harder to beat and much more resolute. There's only one stand out team this season so mid table is a morass, as long as we're in that and not where we've lived these last few seasons then I'll begin to feel that "the worm has begun to turn". Up our slowly recovering U's. |

No we shouldn't but a defeat was always inevitable at some stage. It was Swindon who ended our first long run of wins back in our last promotion season long long long ago. Same time of year too. After that we 'got back on the bike ' and repeated the run. If the players pull themselves together before Saturday Accrington had better watch out as Wessex reckons someone is due a hiding soon. In truth we set up too defensive a formation, no goalscorer selected and made a sluggish start. We've done very well recently but we have only won five games since August 4th so unless something clicks up front we're going to have to be satisfied with a mid-table recovery plan this year. I'm ok with that. |
