| News Comment | Barnsley swept aside as Austin hits stride — report at 20:26:39
I'm very satisfied with the progress. I cant help trying to compare us with the last Championship campaign. At this stage we went into the International break of 8 wins, 2 draws and no losses. This time we're not gifting many chances in front of goal. Perhaps some of the reason we haven't played a top half team is because we've beaten them, but we do have a very tough period coming up. Its encouraging that we are improving and that we have options to change games. We have to keep it going as, no disrespect to Burnley, but Leicester Forest and Reading will be right up there. |
| News Comment | QPR add style to function and sweep aside beleaguered Boro - report at 08:04:03
Thanks Clive. Things appear to be clicking into place. I'm still trying to make my mind up about Carroll. He's a confident lad - always wanting the ball and trying to work it, but does give the thing away cheaply. It seems the whole team have been told to pass to him and get him on it at every opportunity. I hadn't seen Max Ehmer until Saturday. Impossible to judge on this, but he looks very mobile and I was impressed by the way he was alert from the off and was even pointing and giving orders. All in all a very satisfying and comfortable win. |
| News Comment | Hill’s stylish revenge helps unbeaten QPR to away win — report at 22:33:48
Thanks Lewis. Hopefully we can continue to build on all these positives. We have crying out for a settled back line for two years, now we appear to have it and we're not conceding too many chances to the opposition. Like you say Lewis, Green's handling from crosses and corners was solid - not sure I would have the same confidence in Cesar personally. Overall a great three points as I'm sure Bolton will get it together and be up there challenging this season. |
| News Comment | Late Hitchcock thriller seals QPR win — report at 17:43:15
Thanks Clive, We certainly did enough to deserve the win and its great that a local lad has stolen the headlines for us. Although Austin missed a few, but the goals will come. He's working hard and getting into the right positions. Like other sensible people, I do wish BZ was/is given some slack. Can you imagine what Traore would be like if he was carrying a long term injury. We absolutely need to be in this together creating a positive vibe from all corners. I'm sure HR will get another striker in before the window closes to ease the pressure. It will be interesting to see how we cope defensively against better teams, as whatever anyone says, we've had a rather cushy start. I enjoyed Green doing an impression of Paddy Kenny when we scored - fantastic. Last point, isn't Jay Tabb a horrible little man. |
| News Comment | Happy Harry promises ‘mind blowing’ signings as QPR start campaign — preview at 09:37:24
Some really good articles over the summer Clive. I'm finding it really difficult to predict how all this is going to end up. The Championship last season proved that. It appears we are getting some good pros into the club whatever anyone thinks. August will really hot up and I expect a fair few to come and go in the next few weeks. This season will really test HR's managerial credentials. I have to say, I've not been impressed with him since he came in for a number of reasons, but we have to judge him going forward from now. He's had a full pre season and time to put his plans and ideas into practice - so whatever he trots out there is little excuse. Having said that, I'm not that bothered if we are promoted or not. I just want to be involved with a good atmosphere week in week out, some decent football and players that care as much as me with the result. My Wednesday mate (always the optimist), is convinced they'll win by a couple. I even get the draw! |
| News Comment | End of term report - defenders at 19:21:00
Traore wont be up to the Championship physically that's for sure. Does anyone remember Clint's perfectly timed challenge on Defoe at White Hart Lane? That was Paul Parker style. It was world class and I don't think Defoe could believe it. Great assessment Clive. |
| News Comment | End of term report — Goalkeepers at 21:26:46
I think that's a fair assessment of the keepers. Green had a terrible pre season and it followed into the new campaign. Like you say hindsight an all that, but we should have stayed with him and tried to build an understanding with the defence. I thought Cesar was going to work as he made a smart save early on in his first game against Chelsea and looked to have a calming influence on the back line. After that, so many times I watched him pick the ball out of the net thinking he should have done better. So many times, he's palmed saves into the danger zone again and his command of his area is appalling for a keeper of his experience. I'm amazed that someone as astute as Wenger is looking to sign him if we believe the rumours. |
| News Comment | QPR’s first ever win at Anfield — history at 07:15:08
Victories like that 3-1 win in 91 makes being a Rangers fan so great. The Liverpool success in the 70's and 80's obviously breed the plastic fans who don't even know which direction to travel to find Liverpool let alone ever go to games. I took as much stick from them as Man U (ha) fans. Boy did I make the most of that 3-1. It was relentless. These people started to realise what supporting your team actually meant I think. |
| News Comment | Charge for the Loftus Road exits begins — diary at 08:01:56
I can understand Harry talking Cesar up as a top goalkeeper as we obviously want to achieve some transfer fee for him. Personally,I just don't get what all the fuss is about him. He had a good spell earlier in the season, but more times than not I've come away from games thinking he could have done better. He was no doubt a top goalkeeper once and still makes some decent saves, but don't most keepers. For me, he's too static and just will not dominate his area. Good luck to Heidar - a proper pro and player. Shame half this squad didn't have his courage and application. I'm glad the club have decided to abandon their idea of farting about in Asia over the summer. Hopefully we'll come back in pre-season meaning business. |
| News Comment | Wooden spoon distracts from real issue for Reading and QPR — opposition focus at 13:59:51
Thing is Tactical, we could have spent the same money or less than Reading and if it had been done wisely and not for the sake of people lining their pockets, we wouldn't be in this position. I sincerely hope we can get something out of the last few games, if only not to finish bottom. We won't get to the points we were relegated on before thats for sure. |
| News Comment | Stoke defeat begins QPR’s long goodbye — full match report at 07:53:52
What a dreadful performance again. Like most fans, I seem to have given up too and am ashamed by that. As an absolute last throw of the dice, we were saying at half time and a goal down, why not bring Diakite on? A player that can at least carry a ball forward. Like most people, I was excited by the signing of Hoilett and felt he needed games to get going. His first touch has been poor for a few games, but I hope a year with us in the Championship will do him good if he is one to be retained. Some big and vitally important decisions are going to have to be taken over the summer. I feel we are going to need someone making them with Championship experience, as like you say Clive this situation could bleed into next year. |
| News Comment | The People vs Gianni Paladini at 17:34:32
What a brilliant read Roller. The defence is good I admit. Without Ecclestone and Briatore we would have had it, but instead of Paladini something better may have happened anyway. He's guilty, as I've been lucky enough to have had a decent conversation with Ollie and thats good enough for me. |
| News Comment | Schoolboys versus men - full match report at 20:00:21
Another spot on report. Never mind the Maloney equaliserJon, I think the final nail was Agbonlahor's last month. I can honestly say, I haven't recovered from that yet. It was good to see Diakite back. I personally hope he stays as I would like to see him get a real run next season. He could do really well in the Championship if his dicipline is right. Roll on 19th May. |
| News Comment | Seminal moment approaches for Fernandes and Beard — full match preview at 21:37:38
It makes me laugh that we slag up our team and club amongst ourselves and as soon as an outsider has a dig, I challenge them - how dare they! I hope not, but this should be a relatively straight forward game for Everton. Could BZ have played his last game for us? I mean, by the time his ban is up, we will probably be down, so he may as well go under the knife. If he's going to go, then it gives him more time to recover for someone to come in for him. |
| News Comment | QPR’s round in the Last Chance Saloon — full match preview at 19:38:45
Certainly is last chance saloon. I'm with Antti, in as far as I could see relegation in November when we failed to win home games against Reading and Southampton. The dreadful performances and inability to beat other teams around us too. Lets just hope we get a couple of decent performances and results before the seasons out. |
| News Comment | Defensive horror show leaves QPR floundering — full match report at 08:13:42
Thanks Clive. On both occasions I can't understand why Samba didn't just hack the ball away! I haven't seen it again, but I thought Clint made a genuine attempt for the ball in his challenge on Karagounis. Agree with Melaka, we deserve to be where we are and deserve whats coming. We have pretty much cocked everything up in the last 20 months. |
| News Comment | QPR left to lament killer three minute spell — full match report at 07:53:09
Thanks Clive, I was in absolute pieces at half time and felt like I'd been kicked in the knackers. I just knew what was going to happen. However frustrating this was not to take three points, we've not been relegated on this game. Its all the other either piss poor performances or missed chances earlier in the season. |
| News Comment | Townsend’s spectacular strike keeps improbable escape bid alive — full match report at 07:54:02
Thanks Clive. My Pompey mate sent me a text Saturday night telling me about a Mendes goal sparking their survival run. He's been telling me all along we will get out of it, with me responding that he hasn't watched us for 20 odd games this season. I' ll be more frustrated if we get relegated on the final day now as things are finally starting to click. One swallow and all that I know... Overall a very good team performance and I was impressed with the way we stuck to our task after going behind. On the Jenas goal, I just knew that was in before it left his boot. I think HR should adopt the same formation and team for Villa's fragile back line. Have a right go again. |
| News Comment | You’re fat, and your bird’s… Full match preview at 08:32:52
Having not missed one of our game down at Saints for a long time, that was a very funny moment. I remember being disappointed that we were in the side stand that day, as the previous season the noise we generated was awesome in the newly built original away end. I'm going to be slated for this, but we are so desperate and as I think we're gone anyway, if Remy isn't fully fit I would kick Bothroyd's arse, tell him his wages and life depended on it and bung him and Hoilett up front. |
