| News Comment | That sinking feeling again – Report at 04:41:45
Clive I don’t recall you shouting “sign Hayden” from the rooftops during the close season, so it’s a bit rich to call the decision not to sign him horribly idealistic and naive. And would Hayden really be the difference between what we see now and a version of the team after 12 games that would satisfy you? Don’t get me wrong, you are 99% right about everything, but that stood out as some rare MMQB-ing from you. |
| News Comment | Stuttering QPR’s home woes continue against Hull – Report at 04:15:44
Celar has to get that header on target; that’s basically his job. The Smyth does not belong on the field when this team is at full strength. What was Andersen doing on the edge of his own box? Disappointing crowd, thank you Sky. |
| News Comment | Is Madsen the man to solve QPR's long term CM issue? Signing at 18:42:20
Nice write-up. Thank you both. So where’s all this money coming from? I fear the extra Sky money will be offset by lower home attendances, so is there an Eze sale in the offing we don’t know about? Or are the finances just generally more robust now that the £24m-loss season has rolled out of the FFP average? |
| News Comment | A season of three thirds: how Cifuentes and QPR beat the drop – Analysis at 19:38:25
Great work, many thanks. It took me a while to get to this, and most interesting in light of summer acquisitions. Cifuentes is clearly consolidating from back to front, as was his approach from the minute he arrived. Clearly still light one effective striker (yes, yes, who isn’t?), and maybe that’s the last piece in the Cifuentes puzzle. |

| News Comment | The season that was - Preview at 03:10:09
Excellent synopsis of where we are now and what the future might bring. I do fear however that there is a lot of downside risk moving into next season: Cook a year older and cannot repeat this season’s heroics, Clarke-Salter cannot stay injury-free, Chair cannot reverse his two-year post World Cup decline, Andersen can’t get back to the player he was when he joined the club. And that’s before the challenge of finding a keeper worth keeping and more or less completely overhauling the forward line. There’s only so much more juice Cifuentes can squeeze out of this stone; effective and affordable recruitment will be the key difference maker-next season, and that is not guaranteed. |
| News Comment | Field's surprise double caps fitting footballing tribute to Bowles – Report at 04:10:58
On the flip side of all that was good, 19 corners should have produced more goal threat than they did. Smyth looked a little lightweight and easily muscled off the ball. His long throws are not threatening. Agree with Myke that Armstrong was worth a try, but Marti is manager of the month and I’m not. |
| News Comment | Stan Bowles – 1948-2024 at 21:50:58
I was 13 to 20 years old during Bowles’ time at QPR. Hardly missed a home game. Sort of took it all for granted. Little did I know. Thank you. |
