Ok let's vote who do we want on 15:11 - Nov 18 by hoopstar67 | If you want a chance of staying up its got to be Harry,i still believe we have a chance as there are a lot of average teams that are catchable, we have not won all season but we are still only five points of safety, remember Wigan last season and what a run they went on when everyone thought they were gone? Yes i need to feel optimistic as otherwise i will go crazy! |
If the board are going to give the new manager £20m to spend in January then Harry is probably the man. If you want someone to motivate this squad and add only a CB, then there's no real reason to suggest Harry is the man.
Ok let's vote who do we want on 15:32 - Nov 18 with 1243 views | MedwayR | Redknapp on an 18month deal with a decent bonus if we stay up but also a clause to get rid without a pay-off if we go down. Failing that a young up & coming manager - Poyet, Mackay - or someone like Bergkamp who's seemingly doing good stuff as a coach at Ajax, and would surely play good football & have the immediate respect of the players.

Why would Redknapp agree to those terms? He can sit tight doing media until the right offer materialises.
Ok let's vote who do we want on 15:42 - Nov 18 with 1221 views | MedwayR | He probably wouldn't, but I wouldn't want us to commit ourselves to his terms like we have with Hughes. He could be interested though, right part of the country, no doubt he probably misses management & day-to-day involvement with players, it fills a gap until something better comes along & if he was successful he looks very good & if he's not he can fall back on the fact that he took over a sinking ship & still look fairly good.

We'd have to include a supply of dog biscuits in the deal. There has been a big struggle at Ajax (including court action) to get Bergkamp in and to keep Luis van Gaal out, with Cruijff backing Bergkamp, so I'd be surprised if Bergkamp left Ajax lightly.

Agee with Martinez as both long & short term fix, no guarentee any manager can stop the rot and I would prefer Martinez to Rednapp any day of the week..... Rednapp just another Hughes in waiting, I would be surprised if there is much left in the kitty come January when a couple of players could probably be bought, doubt if they would be 'well known' names after the way MH has built his squad of highly paid mercenarys who have failed miserably, and why throw good money after bad. If we are destined for Championship lets at least get someone on board who may have the nounce to get us back, anyone who thinks that will be easy, even with a squad of 'experienced Prem players is in for a rude awakening. Martinez has qualities that I think would sit well with our club, not sure he will be easy to prize from Wigan but if TF can pay MH the equivalant of our National Debt then maybe he can find enough to entice Martinez to sunny West London. Tired of the likes of Rednapp controlling clubs, may bring some limited success via a massive bankroll but we now know just how hard it is to even get a win in this division, hate the Prems financial overload it puts on clubs, but admit to having the best teams to play is so much better than being in the lower league, this is no disrespect either to the lower league clubs, we have been there and its so bloody hard to get back and then survive when you do, Martinez for me all the way.

Ok let's vote who do we want on 16:44 - Nov 18 with 1089 views | daveB | All depends what we want from a manager, if we are going to continue with the big name culture rather than build something then Hughers, Redknapp or Benitiez will be fine, might stay up might not but long term we're fecked anyway If we want to build somwething we have two options, either Martinez or Holloway. Being an old romantic and wanting to connect to the club I'd love Holloway back but thats something we tried with Francis before and it didn't work so would be a big gamble.

Plays decent football with a good tactical knowledge . Ok I know he has been an oddbod in his time but no bodys perfect . I worry for Adel if Harry came in , at the moment he is one of the only things worth turning up for.

Wish list more than anything, Martinez would probably have to suffer a mental aberation to want to come to us now......... If money was really no object then Wenger would top my list, great manager, has had his teams playing great football for years, hasn't won the 'pots' they maybe should have but brings on young players and the best out of the 'stars' he signs, the contstraints he's been under when compared to the other 'top clubs' over the last few years its a wonder they have qualified year in & out for the Champions League, one of the best managers ever in the Prem league. Ok let's vote who do we want on 14:24 - Nov 18 by klr | That's what I was thinking, I'd say that it would be a good admission from the owners that they are learning from their mistakes by appointing a Malky Mackay or a Holloway. The older amongst us realise in no uncertain terms that we are already relegated as of November 17th, the appointment of a Holloway would I believe be a massive feel good appointment for QPR & shot in the arm for the club. He'd take the job as well. I dont like Redknapp & I think the particular ship sailed about a month ago. The owners need to take a step back & learn from their mistakes; dont sign / appoint people on reputation or hearsay, do it backed up by cold hard facts, dont make South Korean clothes horses club captain especially after you made the same mistake the previous year with a delusional pea brained narcissistic "working class hero" Learn from your mistakes. |
Don't know where to start with this. Firstly, Holloway got a new job a couple of weeks ago, you know that right? He's not going to jump ship straight after taking that one. Secondly, if you think we're relegated already, then I think perhaps we need to buy you a calculator. Not sure if you noticed, but there are still nearly 6 months to go in the season and we are two wins away from safety. We were in a far more precarious position towards the end of last season and survived. If we keep playing like we have, then we wont bridge the gap. But this surely is the point of bringing in a new manager.

I would take Harry, if we could do a short term deal which could give a nice little get out for each one of us. I'd also take Gigi on the same terms short term firefighter lets see where we are in the summer. I think we have a far better chance of getting a long term manager if we appoint in the summer and we are clear where we are and have a greater pick of what is available and suitable (and I suspect Lambert might be available by then)

Would demand respect and wasnt half bad as a manager before- Otherwise, and dont laugh, i would try and sign Warnock. This situation is right up his street. Cant think of anyone better. And i didnt want him here the first time, but for a 6 month contract only with massive bonus for staying up, i cant think of anyone better. Gus Poyet is a good shout, but a bit of a gamble in our predicamant.

Just want us to try and play football, so.... L Di Canio or El Tel or Hoddle or Bergkamp or Solksjaer... Could just about except 'arry as cannot be any worse than current managers team. But please, though I know they all bleed blue and white, no Bircham or Gallen or Ferdinand or Ainsworth or Hill - all those suggestions reek of jobs for the boys. Though it's no proof of success or failure none of them have any experience of top level management. If we were lucky one of them might just coax enough out of the side to keep us up or compete in the Championship. It would be a seriously limited appointment both in terms of footballing style and ambition. "Simple ball lads"! Holloway is the one we missed, Blackpool are my second team and boy did he over achieve and change his footballing philosophy whilst in charge there. They only got relegated due to Gilkes being injured Jan - March when they barely won a point. Mr Motivator had the Seasiders playing decent attacking football with commitment and physical presence etc. All on a shoestring.
