Please Please Please 20:56 - Mar 8 with 1052 views | saintwizzler | Let’s stop blaming VAR and the officials. We are on 9 points after 28 games with a goal difference of -48. We are a Championship club in The Premier League. Unless we get some owners who will spend £30m minimum on every player we will never compete in this league. Get used to Tier 2.

What with Johannes Spors on the club roster, and having already worked with Rohl previously, exciting times are ahead. Season Ticket sales will be at their highest levels never seen before as we storm to the Championship next season. The Wall will be pumping. Saints FC - We Lead, Others Follow. As the last relegation, players will be sold off to balance the books. Dibling, Ramsdale, Fernandes, Sulemana, Roy Keane’s son in law, KWP (free) etc… There will be a couple of £10m signings. The rest of the team will be free transfers and loans. It will be a tough season. But at least Sport Republic will freeze Season Ticket prices will the ‘more games’ spin. Blackmore has to be careful. If he is too critical of the Club, they will ban him. I think he’s a very good broadcaster, probably the best Solent Sport have ever had. But I am sceptical when he gets optimistic at times. [Post edited 9 Mar 10:49]

In fairness he did say (aside from Rylan who good or bad, did get us promotion) that all their appointments have been duds…… [Post edited 9 Mar 10:23]

In fairness to Adam Blackmore he has usually called it as he sees it. No one is doubting that we will lose about half a dozen players for big money, but the problem is that being a Championship club means that you can't sign a £30 million player. Firstly there is the fact that a £30 million player will not want to play in the Championship and secondly wages, if you pay someone too much to get them to sign and you don't go up then you are stuck with a player that you can't sell only loan out. The record transfer fee in the Championship is £16 million when Burnley signed Mike Tresor in the summer of 2024. We have to look at the root cause of the problem, rather than just generalise, that was a lack of leadership in the boardroom, after relegation in 2023, we got in Jason Wilcox as director of football and we were stable, made a few good signings and won promotion. When he left the issue was that we didn't replace him, now we have Johann Spors, so it seems that we have addressed the biggest problem that we had last summer. No one can accuse the owners of not spending money, now it seems that they have finally woken up to the issues and are getting in professional people to get the club back on track. To say the club is rotten to the core from top to bottom is not true, we have owners who have been willing to spend money, but they have made mistakes, we have a CEO in Phil Parsons , who although has not been great on the footballing side of things, understandable because he didn't have the experience, but has put the commercial side of the club on a strong footing, perhaps not of interest to most of the fans, but without that side of things we can't move forward. Now hopefully Sporrs is the man to put the footballing side of things back on track. But it won't be £30 million signings, it will be £10 million ones who will get us out the Championship and also loan signings, that is the way to do it, so if you do get promoted then you are not burdened with a lot of players that you can't ship out and you can free up money for new Premier League signings. Our problem last summer was the manager and the signings he wanted such as Downes who were not Premier League class, we did make some very good signings such as Fernandes, Ramsdale even Ugochukwu on loan who was ignored By Martin. We have to see if Sporrs is the man, if only because we have no other choice, this is the modern day, owners don't just leave because the fans chant "Sack the board" selling a football club is not easy, but you can walk away and not throw anymore money at it and the clubs that have that happen to them have major problems

Exactly. We shop at The Championship. I’m amazed how we signed Ramsdale and its credit to him for joining a sinking ship to play regularly. He is quality. But how different it would of been if the Feynoord keeper hadn’t of failed his medical. The same keeper who has only played 4 games this season. Without Ramsdale in goal Ralph’s record beatings would of been surpassed this season.
