Derby were proper gash.
We played poorly in the first half, yet Derby was so bad we could get a 2-0 lead without even really trying.
They were as bad as that Oxford half, probably worse.
Paal was poor and got beat too many times. Luckily, the rest of the defence was on their game. We did well by putting this team to the sword and scoring our chances. If you want to progress that's what a team needs to do and we did it. More Marti magic.
But the amount of space they left for all of our midfielders was crazy. They looked and played like a L1 side. If they get relegated, I am not sure even Eustace can polish that turd. They only have one decent player.
I like Varane but Derby made him look like Xavi, Chair the West London Messi, Koki a Step-Over Ronaldo and well Field ... err like Field.
Marti knew it before the game, saving Smyth and Morgan for our next run of tough games.

Paal does have the occasional howler but he was excellent tonight. I thought Derby were strong and dangerous for the first half hour. If they’d scored first it might have been a much tougher match. The quality of Chair’s goal really shook the and filled us with confidence. |  |

I don’t see why there’d be any reason behind it. I don’t particularly rate the bloke. He had a decent game today overall. I still think he’s a weak defensive link a decent wide player will often expose.

Couldn't agree more.
Great we scored 4 goals, from 4 chances I think, but we have played a lot, lot better and lost.
I've had it with Field and Varane in midfield together, it is painful to watch. Varane passing the ball 10 yards, sideways of course, straight into the SB Stand was typical.
I think I'm annoyed because so many times in that final third it breaks down due to the same players doing the same stupid things/decisions. | | | |

Paal is 'proper' decent Watford, arguably the best footballer in the team, one of my favourite players - he is a big asset to the team and why MC picks him whenever he is available which is most weeks. His delivery for Edwards goal was excellent, and at Coventry his run down the line cross to the CF should have won us the game. Yes he makes mistakes, yes he could defend better but he is decent - we should be making every effort to get his contract extended. Watch him move into centre midfield during the match, he gives players options all the time. He was very good last night.
I would ignore the opening post - we were too good for them and they could not handle our intensity. They looked OK in the first 20 minutes but we were within ourselves. Enjoy your Saturday, like I will. [Post edited 15 Feb 8:06]

I agree with all of this. It was the most confident and complete performance from Chair this season, and I wouldn't even have started him as I thought he looked knackered after Coventry, but he looked almost unplayable last night at times. Also agree the players you mentioned were excellent.

I thought he was good last night. I'm not his biggest fan but I think I'm now at the point where I'd be pleased enough if he signed a new deal. There's no guarantee we'd find a better left back on a tight budget. He has his ups and downs and his corners most weeks are beyond frustrating but he's good enough for a mid table championship team and his fitness record, like Jimmy Dunne, is very impressive. | | | |

Side note: the replay of Edwards' goal is hilarious. He headed it straight into the keeper's face. I thought they'd chalk it up as an OG, at one point. |  |

I had to watch the game in Belushi's in Hammersmith due to Valentine's day duties. My wife and I the only QPR fans in there. Went absolutely mental when that first Chair goal went in. Can't imagine what it was like at the game. Sometimes, as a football fan, you just have to allow the emotional side of your brain to overtake the logical side of your brain (not that I thought it was a bad performance) and enjoy the goals. They looked exactly what they are, a promoted side with lots of energy but not enough creativity, and the confidence they built through their promotion is long gone. They were the better side at the start and end of each half so they’re still trying but they hardly made a decent chance without help from us. |  | | |

Regarding his corners, they can be frustrating but perhaps the players he is trying to find do not do their job.....and BTW the near post corner is very difficult to exercise - he is playing the ball into a very tight area which is well defended but get to it and rewards can be very good. | | | |
