Is this season written off already? 17:33 - Nov 9 with 7775 viewsJevlar

Knee-jerk thread. Almost definitely...

Mentally, to deal with attending more matches (ST - F Block) I've already got us as relegated.

I can't muster up the hope to start believing Celar is suddenly going to go on a scoring run, Madsen making a crunching tackle or JCS playing the remaining games of the season.

I obviously want to be wrong, I like Marti, and will be at all home games supporting the Rs as always but anyone else adopting this admittedly pessimistic view. I know there are plenty of points to play for, and to lose 6 in a row (which we're close to) is very QPR.

Keen to read the views of other LFW and QPR folks on how to approach the rest of the season!

Tin foil hat firmly on!

This team/squad is woeful and we are not staying up. It is the lack of fight that is doing my head in, and says everything about the mentality and character of the players.

To be a good team you have to work harder than the opposition to earn the right to play football. If the opposition are 100% then we have to be 101%. You have to be prepared to get hurt and hurt others to win. You've got to call your team mates out, you have to do your job 100% and lead others.
You have to give everything and be prepared to die for that shirt and your team mates.

These players, this team/squad, this club shows none of that.
We are fcking pathetic.

We need get as many players fit and as quick as possible.

We probably need loan a couple out and hopefully get at least three loans in, that all work in the January window.

Its going to be tough to climb out of the relegation zone

Currently we are truly in the doo doo.

And its difficult to see a turn around but two or three wins out of nowhere and who knows.

Such is life.

Its only football.

I have lost interest with this rabble...

Never has a team or fan base needed an international break as badly as QPR. Get JCS back in the team, maybe Paal, Colback and Frey and we stand a chance. One positive result against Stoke and we're only 3 points adrift.

No denying we're total garbage right now but Marti somehow got a tune out of us last year so I have some hope he might perform another miracle. Couple of bad results after the international break and they'll most likely sack him. Who knows what happens from there.

It's not over yet as we simply have to find a way to play better and we'll almost certainly add a few in January. We're the worst of the lot right now but there are plenty of other rubbish teams in this league.

I actually think a few of our signings are decent: Nardi, Varane, Dembele and Saito would all look like good players in a good Championship team.

However, we only have one left back (who we tried to sell and is now injured) and only two centre forwards (neither very good, one now injured), fewer than last season when we struggled for goals. I actually think the sale of the much-criticised Dykes was the dumbest move of all, considering we didn't replace him.

I also think players like Smyth are League 1 standard so you're going to get League 1 football if you keep playing them. He had a chance to put in a decent cross in the second half. A quality player puts in a decent cross and we equalise. Smyth does what he always does...I can't fault his effort but sadly he's just not good enough.

If we get a few of the injured players back soon and can get a few wins this year, then we've still got a chance. But we need a good window and God knows what they've got up their sleeve...

Lot better than I thought we would be today. Stayed in the game .
Hoping to get a few more points on the board before Xmas . Start January not too far adrift .
Probably kidding myself but all we have left is hope.

Stayed in the game?? I agree only insofar as we remained on the pitch at the same time as them. That was so, so tame and Leeds at no point had to get into, let alone beyond, first gear

QPR - "shit but local"

Definitely not written off yet.

As awful as we have been, given we’re about half way through the season and the points needed to get out of the bottom 3, it’s definitely possible to turn it around…but we’ve all watched this side.

Dont think he has much say in the matter all depends on his contract length.

If he walks mid contract he has to pay up his remaining part unless he can negotiate with our tough and shrewd board

Shrewd? I'm a million percent confident my 2 year old niece would out-negotiate and outwit our board in football matters. They're absolute fùcking clowns.

The question was 'Is this season written off already?'
The answer has to be 'no'. We are about 65 points off a play-off place, with 31 games to play. There is no point in thinking about that. Success is now survival in the Championship and the first target has to be pulling away from the relegation places.
But, six first choice players are missing at the moment (Clarke-Salter, Paal, Chair, Colback, Dembele and Frey). Their availability would improve the team immensely, but it looks likely to be weeks before that happens.
In the meantime, Marti has to use every power that he possesses to get some points with what he has at his disposal. Forget the arguments about poor recruitment policies and who is to blame. He must earn his corn and the fans can help by accepting the situation and helping him and the team battle through it. It is, first and foremost, about survival.

A tiny ray of hope as Martí seems to imply a couple will return after the international break?

Clarke-Salter, Paal, Colback, Frey and Chair?… if so, I would implore the CEO relax his zero-comms approach and let the fans know. It would be a real shot in the arm.

As a few above have mentioned, it is critical that as many of our players are available as possible to try and salvage something, anything.

We simply cannot afford to have as many injuries as we have at the same time and continue to compete. Of course the point then comes back to recruitment and who's strategy it was to go into a season with only two strikers, one left back, etc.

It really hurts at the moment. I wish anyone in the senior management team (above Marti) felt even a fraction of the pain that us mere mortals feel right now.

Can't see us staying up. Even with the returning players. Said before, teams will absorb any pressure we put on them, knowing we are desperate for points and hit us on the break. It's already started happening at LR. Add in the gamesmanship and bias from refs because they know the odds are stacked against us (ask Wolves, Ipswich etc etc) and we are not going to get the wins home and away that are needed. Nourry has f*cked us.

The season is not written off as there is always hope, but we just no longer have the right type of players to be competitive in this division. It has been staring us in the face for a couple of seasons now, our time is probably up for the time being as a Championship club, it happens just think in recent years reasonably medium to big clubs have dropped to League 1 be it poor form or financial shenanigans e.g. Ipswich, Derby, Sheffield Wed, Portsmouth, Sunderland and Charlton to name a few.

If you're looking for a positive, Sheffield Wednesday didn't get their second win until the 19th game of last season and still stayed up...

I'm normally pretty positive about my team but I have to admit, right now I'm feeling pretty negative about our prospects, and have done for a while. Frankly, it feels worse than it was this time last season. I go to games not looking forward to watching them.

There are multiple problems to address, not least an incompetent CEO who has completely lost the confidence of the fans. Things could change but right now it's very hard to see where the next goal is coming from let alone the next win.

This one is really weird

Last season we thought nailed on relegation with Ainsworth - even before season starts

This season it was positive vibes after our last 2 games last season, how many would have predicted the right mess we are in right now?

I think we will be ok, but only just

You cant write a season off in November. Sure, we've been very poor and we have an injury list that would shame the Russian army but the draws with Burnley & Sunderland + the dogfedness of yesterday offer glimpses of better times to come.
However, we need wins (plural) and we need them soon.

We are going into games looking to just hold on. It doesn't matter if it's a battling defeat or a bullshit capitulation, it's a defeat. It doesn't matter if it's again a top team or a relegation rival, we are still getting fked.

These are Ainsworth-era results.

Yeah . I suspect I’ll be standing in the away end at Watford at the end of the month with the same feeling of hopelessness we had before last years fixture.
With a similar outcome . Ainsworth-era indeed.

No. But I absolutely would not be letting Nourry et al have another swing with a managerial appointment and transfer window.

100% agree, but what do we do? Give Marti the keys fully at least through the January window (easier said than done, as he will need people behind him doing the recruitment work? Try to get a new CEO and/or DoF in place ASAP?

You commented a few years ago when going through the accounts the number of staff we have for an organization that doesn’t win very much. All the joking about “performance” this and that on the payroll now, I assume we have ballooned even higher than before…
