Ainsworth 17:14 - Sep 30 with 137664 views | Gloucs_R | Needs to be a discussion had..... The squad we've got are not bottom 3. We're getting tactically outmanoeuvred at home almost every time we play. It's not a lack of experience in the team anymore. A lack of firepower, possibly, but we should be better than this. Edit, perhaps I should have said our starting xi are not bottom 3. I agree, the overall squad is poor. [Post edited 30 Sep 2023 17:29]

Ainsworth on 18:32 - Oct 8 by Esox_Lucius | By agreement maybe, as a contract is a contract and I was under the impression that is the reason managers ask for the long contracts so as to make it difficult for poorer clubs to bin them off on a whim. |
I have no idea, Esox, just going on stuff that I've read.

Ainsworth on 18:19 - Oct 8 by Esox_Lucius | Playing devils advocate here but... the club sack GA & Dobson, both on 4 year contracts. As manger he will be on £10k-15 a week plus I would guess and Dobbo not too far behind. This would mean the club are going to go a further £4 or 5m into the hole. Bringing someone in will presumably have a similar cost to bringing GA etc. in. Figures being bandied about by those with an interest in these things claim that QPR are already over the FFP limit of £39m for a rolling 3 year period by £3-4m already. To effect change it would appear we need to sell approximately £10m worth of players just to avoid a points deduction and transfer embargo which would leave the squad depleted of its better players and no money to replace them. Did I get anything wrong? |
Maybe that's why you need committed owners, rather than a chairman who prefers to play golf on a Saturday afternoon. We might not make idiotic appointments then.

Ainsworth on 18:29 - Oct 8 by BrianMcCarthy | I don't think managers and staff get a full payout, I think maybe a year or something. |
It's a year payout, Ferdinand confirmed that a few years ago, is pretty standard
Ainsworth on 19:49 - Oct 8 with 5881 views | daveB | Few stats from weekend, now our worst ever home run 11 without a win. Ainsworth now has the equal worst loss % of QPR permanent managers, level with Bill Dodgin on 61% Goal Difference of -32 is 4th worst for a manager in our history

Ainsworth on 12:14 - Oct 8 by stainrods_elbow | Yeah, on paper at least, just like Critchley. I don't know why it didn't work out for him at QPR, or if it would have had he stayed longer than five minutes. You'd need to ask him and/or our so-called players. |
There was a red flag with Critchley that the Villa players were not performing with him post Beale, to ask him a man who comes across as an introvert to follow him again. Wrong man at the wrong time, we need a strong personality who has coached or played recently at Championship level or above with some success

Ainsworth on 14:53 - Oct 8 by rbee | Gareth has shown that he can set up a QPR team to play well as shown at Burnley, Stoke and 'Boro and Cardiff this season so why have we been so awful the past few weeks? Too many formation changes, too much tinkering with tactics? At the time of Colback's red card we were playing well and I expected Duke-McKenna to simply step in and take over that role but no Gareth changed everything. I am currently watching the Brighton v Liverpool game and the commentators are discussing the amount of changes that Brighton make to their starting eleven without affecting team performance. It's because Brighton have a style of play and each squad member knows their job when selected to play. Most fans can see that playing Armstrong and Dykes together doesn't work but yet Gareth doesn't. Gareth said that we would be getting plenty of crosses in to Dykes but that has not been happening. Assuming that Gareth stays he has to reset and get his team organised and playing like they were a month ago when we were all saying that we didn't look like a relegation team. |
"It's because Brighton have a style of play and each squad member knows their job when selected to play." This was the whole purpose of a DoF at QPR. What we are seeing here is a shambolic 8 years of Les Ferdinand running tings.

Ainsworth on 10:32 - Oct 9 with 4928 views | Monkey_Roots | In all honesty though, we sack him, and the same people who have made all the great decisions up until now are tasked with making yet another decision... do any of us truly trust them to get it right? Sack GA, announce a DOF immediately (another decision, I know), they take over the running of the club, they define a way of playing and hire accordingly. That's the only way I see anything changing the course that we're currently on.

Hmmm...I'd argue that, for all Les's undoubted flaws in that role, the one period where it's clear his was the main voice in the recruitment process, like followed like in terms of footballing philosophy: Warbs - PBBC - the Critch. Fernandes and Bhatia scratching their bloomin' itches with McClaren and Ainsworth respectively = the bigger crimes imho.

Get a few more and at least this sad Ainsworth era will be over' but here he still is, eating into an international period which would have been a great time for Warnock to get to know the players a bit.

It's 4 months since Ferdinand left and no sign of a replacement so no shock they are sitting on their hands. Ainsworth will end up staying and be sacked after we lose at Rotherham,

If he’s still there after the international break then the massacre by Leicester City might concentrate the relevant minds.

Leicester will tear us a new arsehole much like Newcastle did when Hasselbaink was here. I dread to think what the score will be. I'm expecting them to surpass it. In true vidiprinter style I'm expecting it to be: QPR 0 Leicester City 7 (SEVEN) [Post edited 10 Oct 2023 12:19]

Likewise. It’s just a waste of time at the moment and I can’t see that changing under Ainsworth. I don’t want to see fans calling for him to go at games and maybe the owners will get the hint if attendances start dropping.

A really depressing aspect to this is that it seems entirely likely that Ainsworth will stay on, performances will continue to be terrible, we get relegated, and a once popular player becomes a hate figure

Famously he said, I wish people would stop attributing that insanity quite to me. On the other hand, and it's only a matter of time before Anisworth picks this one up, he did say " failure is success in progress"
