Post Covid the market for players like Connor collapsed. Swansea got Obafemi for £1.5m (not withstanding his discipline issues) who is a very talented footballer. Moore ad Jamal Lowe fall into this bracket £2- £3m. CR17 is better to them but is proving it on a monthly basis and had to fight for his place. Rodon and Downes were excellent business but the collapse of this market is a very serious problem for Marsh . Silverstein and Levien as heir business model has trading under cotract players as a key feature. They wanted rock solid no lose bargains in January and could not find any. Fisher and Darling have struggled and not justified their £2m combined fee. CR was roundly criticised on here for barking aggressively at his colleagues. You do not see that with this Swansea team. The new Swansea model might have to limit all signings to under 18 year old's (Dan James Mcburnie) or talented players struggling to get any game time and opportunity (Goykeres). I suggested the three Cardiff players in this bracket. Harris Davies and Colwill. [Post edited 12 Mar 2023 19:13]

If we have any true hope on getting things back on track, we need to be looking at the foreign market, obviously the one within our budget as Burnley have done very successful......we need to be keen as mustard on the free agent scene. We also need to be looking at young potential within this country and again free agent ones. Our whole recruitment since the Americans have taken over has been mainly very poor and on times more a case of desperation rather than being well planned out.

Why balme the Americans for recruitment we have had "recruitment" teams in place Andy Scott Then Allen but it seems ok to balme the ownership......did they select Fisher, Sorinola, Paterson or Darling?

Did they select Clucas, Asoro and so on! No they didn't! but they are the guys who are at the top and recruit these people who deserve part of the blame. It's been a recurring theme since they took over in 2016, recruitment has been poor with whomever was in the recruitment side or manager since 2016. We call for learning, we call on learning from our mistakes........you can see why these mistakes are happening when it's been happening from the top since 2016. 4 players is a small percentage in the grand scheme of things that has led us to where we are today.

In any organisation the blame and responsibility goes all the way to the top. They employed the person who employed, the person who employed and so on. The blame may go down the line but the buck stops at the top.

Of course it is. I think this is the reason why Martin is not having as much stick as he should be, it's because most know the yanks are a crock pot of shiit and ultimately we will still likely be in the same mess after Martin goes. Wait until the end of the season, spend a few weeks of uncertainty and silly games, Martin eventually goes with no plan in place, spend a few weeks looking at managers and scrambling for one, lose out on numerous players and then play catch up during pre season and the lead up to the transfer window. Yep, let's wait for the end of the season because we have time on our side 👠We were writing his papers up in October but now it's logical to wait until the end of the season to get rid. Trying to be clever really isn't a good look at all.

I thought apparently according to one clever sage on here, the appointment of a competent manager was going to see us flying up the league. Yet the same clever sage agrees with the owners stance ( who by the way have invested heavily apparently) to do nothing until the end of the season Whether Martin stays or goes, next season will be a worrying one under these owners

Because its them who pulled the plug on deals made by those people you have named along with others, they are the ones who get involved with who is bought and sold there is no question they are to blame , even the Q E O they brought in is not the guy he should be what has HE said about it all ? NOTHING, In all honesty they, the hedge fund people they are do not give a rats a---se for the club, nor supporters their record proves it am sorry to say

SO a change of manager cannot change the fortunes of a club? Look at Forest struggling sat the foot of the table then a new manager took them on to win the play off final and into the Premier league all without a preseason or input into players This season Middlesborough the team who beat us Saturday again were languishing at the foot of the table before a rookie manager came in and look at where they are now. Stop this crap Martin is a failure many of us pointed this out long ago now those who clung to him are doing all they can to deflect and attack again those who called it right The owners we have are not perfect.but they are what we have they have got much wrong they have put monies into the club to keep us afloat and supported MArtin in the transfer market Downes,Paterson, Ethan Laird, Cyrus Chrisite, Wolf,Fisher,Wood,Darling , Sorinola plus the other loanees.. Prior to MArtin we finished 10th, then 6th then 4th in th league under these owners . The reason some think it is right to o nothing until the close season is down to funds sackong MArtin et al will have a financial burden it will be less come the summer also who will take over...we have no one these days like a Tate ( forced out by Russy) Curt or similar to take the reins in the interim and so it maybe best to wait until more choice is available come the summer maybe Luke WIlliams could be persauded to return should Notts County not get promoted... Why should next season be any more worrying than thise prior to MArtins arrival under these owners [Post edited 13 Mar 2023 9:16]

We've overpaid for players since Bayram became persona non grata. One of the reasons for the sale was the shareholders realised we were heading for financial meltdown and we had to sell players when we were relegated was because the CEO had lost control of the finances. Burnley, while spending c£80 million in two seasons also came close to bankruptcy and are currently in the EFL bad books. We might have afforded better players had we matched Burnley' season ticket prices … Burnley popular stand £590 Swansea popular stand £322 Allowing for variations on pricing (senior, youth etc) their income would have been close to £3,000,000 more than ours.

With the poll indicating over 60% of current season ticket holders will not be renewing things will only get worse on the recruitment front with even less monies coming into the club....and thats before we have lower prices than our competitors so they are all in a better place to offer players more! But aits all down to tightwads of owners

I have seen far tighter owners than this lot over the years & I'm not renewing, my reasons are entirely down to the manager. He hasn't even used the loan market well. Back to Burnley, Kompany has done an excellent job as has Carrick at Boro. Jones/Edwards at Luton, Rowett at Millwall, Tommasson at Blackburn have all done well at their respective clubs with small budgets (probably smaller than ours). Martin is a stick of rock with a bell on top anyone who thinks otherwise knows very little about football.

I've said the same for over a year but many on here shouted me down, understand your frustration with Martin and I thought long and hard before renewing....the issue without monies it makes it harder for the owners as "crap" as they are made out to be.... I suspect its finances that are delaying the sacking of Martin the man who is killing our club

So a group that has lost c£30 million on the share purchase and put in £16,000,000 (one way or another) are tightwads but it's ok than 60% of ST holders will not pay £30 less than a National League side and almost £300 less than QPR to renew and support Swansea City! With supporters like than we deserve to be in the lower leagues.

You need to read my post properly and take it in context with others I have posted about the owners I do not believe the owners are tightwads my comment was to those who keep calling the owners as such blaming them for Martin's shortcomings I agree ST holders not renewing given the terrific value of the price of our ticket..but do understand the rationale behind some of our fans not wishing to renew whilst we are served up the garbage from Martin and no signs of his dismissal

I have followed the Swans for around 40 years (30 years a ST holder) done over 60 different away grounds, until this season I could count on 1 hand the home games I missed. If that is the type supporters you talk of then you should be a bit worried.
