There's some old punk on here. How do you oldies feel about the new punk that's coming out lately, notably Turnstile? They are crossing lots of boundaries and getting very popular with a melodic hardcore punk vibe.
Little interest in ‘new punk’ music, same with revisiting any of the bands I used to follow. Had such a good time when I was young that I don’t wish to risk tarnishing my recollections by witnessing old men banging out youth anthems. Nothing against them or anyone who enjoys going to seem ‘em, but I’d never swap the raw, insane lunatic memories for anything.
I will always remember being on a stag weekend in Leicester in the early 1990's (groom went to Uni there) and having to evacuate the hotel at 6 in the morning when a fire alarm went off. As we guests all gathered outside in various states of awareness and clothing the members of Stiff Little Fingers (including Bruce Foxton) began to assemble having been playing the night before. I used to really love their music and it was quite a shock to see how the intervening years had treated them, all though to be fair no-one was looking great at that particular moment. Convinced me at that point I probably should avoid seeing my early teenage music hero's on stage again for exactly the same reasons.

I get this, but cant resist the draw of Theatre of Hate. Saw them only last week and had a brief chat with Kirk who you mentioned earlier. Despite being older, their music still has the energy. It's the audience that's changed but there is still a reggae/dub set between acts. I can separate my memories from back then...I'm not trying to recreate them, but a couple of notes in and I could be back in the 100 club, The Moonlight or similar, except the night is now much more civilised which ain't a bad thing, and I haven't got to worry about getting the last train home.!
I find most new "punk" a load of shite...it's either metal or "green day punk", both of which are a million miles away. The only new punk like bands in recent years that I've bothered to see live are Savages (now split), Sleaford Mods and Viagra Boys. Not punk in the strictest sense, but that don't exist any more, but a lot of what there was hasn't aged well.

theres all sorts out there mate, it can be hard finding it. Came across this a while ago, really good
But then i like the socal hardcore sound.
Then theres all the punk influenced offshoots,
even a bit of punk 'n roll from the IOM
Don't like the growling shouting thing favoured by a lot of bands though
