Fan's forum 10.3.2021 21:06 - Mar 2 with 77536 views | Sandyman | Any predictions as to how it will go? I'm guessing the script will be 100% "poor little Rochdale". Never mind the struggles of other clubs, NOBODY will have had it as bad as "poor little Rochdale". We can't compete with anyone, ever, because we are "poor little Rochdale". Being in 4 consecutive relegation dogfights in League One will be repeated as "historic success". Ambition and positivity will not be mentioned as those present salute each others abilities. Add lashings of extra "poor little Rochdale" for good measure. [Post edited 2 Mar 2021 21:14]

Is that the case? The Trust have been asked to arrange a follow up ‘questions for the board’ meeting for any unanswered questions.

And won’t that become a free for all which will see some “hilarious” banter being posted and any pertinent points being easy to ignore anyway? Not sure why they couldn’t use Zoom/Teams etc where people can still their virtual hand up (leave it) and then actually ask the question as if we were all actually there.

Fan's forum 10.3.2021 on 21:40 - Mar 2 with 19841 views | TomRAFC | We have a CEO and a manager who should both be out of a job. One can talk about how well they are managing the club and the other can talk about how well they are managing the team. A nice positive united front. [Post edited 2 Mar 2021 21:43]

Aye, suppose it could. I’ll try to find where I read it as I’m 99% sure I did. Just wondered why it had been advertised as that and now seems to have changed.

Even after the first promotion under Hill that first season in League One the average attendance was only 3537. I know about there being lots of clubs in the North West to choose from but according to Wikipedia. Rochdale's population is 220,000 getting an average home attendance of 5000 equates to 2.3% of the local population.

Home attendances have fluctuated in accordance with quality of left back. This season, for example...

Why would we need to attract local fans when we can get them from places like Sussex?

Did you miss the bit about Dale not having a promotion to celebrate in 41 years, or being stuck in the same division for 36 years? It creates a mindset after so long. [Post edited 2 Mar 2021 22:10]

It’s a combination of many factors, including many missed opportunities to grow the fanbase when there was a chance to do so, especially after Wembley in 08. There’s always been an apathy to the club, yet there’s also people who will turn out for big games like most clubs. We never had the inclination to accept that and try and get a percentage of that percentage to turn up for a percentage of other games. That’s it simplified; we just didn’t try hard enough with a group of people who don’t care enough.

I’d just refer anyone to the recent podcast with our first CE about how to grow income and attendances at this club without employing an army of mythical job titles.

Many tried, many times over the years. It’s not even exclusive to recent times, various regimes could have done better. The opportunity passed, and as we’ve seen when the cheaper season tickets were introduced, although it did indeed have a effect, it brought crowds up to the figures you mentioned earlier. That’s the ceiling right now as ships have sailed.
