It does not bother me but at some point (like it was with Corbyn) Stamer and non prosecution of high profile people/cases will be front page news for sustained periods.

Yep - we are a nation of moderates.
Since 97 it's 13 vs. 10 in favour of labour (albeit a moderate labour).
Suggests we are social democrats at heart (not SDP as a party but middle ground, status quo).
Like i said, will be interesting to see if the conservatives can buck the trend and hold on to power or if the red wall which swung to conservative last time out will collectively shrug their shoulders and say 'nah, don't like this, what else is on offer' the next time a GE comes round.

As for being a nation of moderates, we certainly are. It is a crying shame that the Liberal Democrat’s can’t get their act together. For years now that should have been hoovering up votes but Clegg dropped an almighty clanger in letting Cameron into no 10 and they have lost the plot ever since. I think that Starmer will appeal to many lapsed LibDems like myself and Johnson has already probably lost a lot of the votes that he conned by his Get Brexit Done stance. Ideally I would like to see a Labour/LibDem colalition. Hopefully the Tories will keep Johnson and Cummings in post. At the rate they are losing support they will not get re-elected.

That Dominic Cummings must be a genius. The voters obviously love all of the Cummings and goings and can identify with a man who wears tracksuit bottoms to work.

The media have been desperate for an angle to sink their teeth into from the beginning. They have one and it will be relentless over the next few days, regardless of what the truth is.
I followed Cummings on twitter (it was an account with inside info that strangely went dormant yesterday) and what we are seeing now was predicted at the beginning of the month by him and another person!
So I think Boris (rightly or wrongly) sticking by Cummings is also about the wider political game as opposed to sticking up for a pal.
Will Cummings be in the role this time next week? Just depends on how relentless it gets I spose. However, they have played this hand before and won.

The way I see it there’s very little risk to Boris in keeping Cummings, but a big risk in losing him as he is the brains in the team. Labour will desperately want to keep this story going but it will backfire on them as a sustained attack on Cummings will soon be seen as a sustained on Brexit. And that will just infuriate the Labour voters who voted Tory last time and make them hate Labour all the more. From a strategic point of view Labour are going to overplay this and they are going to end up looking opportunistic at a time of crisis and they will be seen as the same old Corbynites remainer party that despises the working classes.
