I’ve had much pleasure reading the match threads on various Leeds forums, especially when we scored and the total meltdown that followed it. This was part of a comment posted that shows just how much that loss hurt them. Hilarious 😂

* Swansea cheating. Perhaps I'm being a bit harsh on the ref, as it certainly looked like Swansea had spent a lot of time on the training pitch focussing on diving and any other form of cheating they could think of. It wasn't even just one culprit - there were quite a few at it, which makes me suspect that it was prearranged. The consensus was that they were akin to Subbuteo figures that blew over in the slightest wind. Their #22, whoever he is, was an absolute disgrace. Spent more time on his arse feigning injury before sprinting off when the inevitable foul was given. The most laughable was in the first half. Alioski, all 6 stone of him, ran past their hulking #5. I could see no contact, but the #5 went down as though Alioski had driven a sword through his heart. Now the funny thing is that he was stationary, and Alioski was screaming past him. If there was the slightest contact, the laws of physics would have Alioski flying through the air, or flattened. Neither happened. He continued on his way. Yet the ref made the most improbable decision. This happened time & time again. Then there were the substitutions. Remember this new rule about leaving the pitch by the shortest route? Well Leeds did, and I would hope that Swansea & the ref did. But Swansea pointedly chose the slowest routes every time, as part of their time-wasting campaign. Did the ref object? Nope - he even escorted one of their players from the penalty box to the halfway line. Probably arranging their shower activities.

* Timewasting. Right from the start, Swansea were playing for time. I was absolutely stunned. Here we had a team renowned for playing good football, & sharing top spot with us. You'd surely expect them to get stuck in. But no, every opportunity to waste time was employed. Goalie changing sides for kicks, going down like they've been shot & staying there overly long for the smallest infraction, rolling about clutching various bits of their bodies before sprinting away clearly pain & injury free, and standing over our (occasional) free kicks, even in our half, in order to prevent us taking a swift free kick

It was our CB Liam Cooper whose header hit the bar

I thought the ref was poor for both sides

Should never have hit the bar, two minutes over injury time.

OK I've changed it.

The ones I read were a bit more sensible: blaming team selection, and that they aren’t taking their chances at home.

And there was me thinking they just weren't fücking good enough 😂

Academic though. He was still climbing.
Thought you should have had a few more in the book. Clattered us all over the pitch. Didn't need to either. You had enough possession and chances.

Agreed. The first corner should have been taken but when it was put back out the whistle should have gone. If it was up the other end I doubt the first corner would have been taken.

There are very few games to me where the 3 points taste sweeter, Cardiff and Leeds. The fact we hit them in the dying minutes makes it even better.

We were always going to lose games, no team will go through a championship season without experiencing defeats, that's the nature of football.

It was all doom & gloom from some of our fans on the coach back home. FFS it's early doors with a long way to go yet, we lost to a decent side who were joint-top of the league.

The bubble is far from burst at this stage of the season

Don’t forget you’ve got to play ‘them’ as well who seem to hold the Indian sign over you.

Of course, we may be rooting for ‘them’ come the time which will Make us all a little dirty!😉

If you want to see a player cheating, as in diving, look no further than Bamford, didnt he pick up a 3 match ban for it last season?

It’s funny the media have hardly mentioned Leeds today, usually on Talksport and Sky its ‘Leeds this, Bielsa that’ etc.

I’m glad their bubble is starting to burst.

I remember when we beat Manure. It was discussed on Sunday Supplement the following day.

They started the topic by saying Manchester United lost to Swansea. And then discussed it for 15 minutes without mentioning us once. It was about why they lost, what to do about it.

We're used to it. Probably better to stay under the radar.

which has been my point. It is pretty, openly insulting to us.

No excuses.

Our history over the past 30 yrs is enough for a film let alone a discussion between feckwits on Sky.

We have only ourselves to blame, had we taken our chances we'd have won the game comfortably. I could sense what was coming throughout the 2nd half as we huffed & puffed with nowhere near the same cohesion we'd shown in previous matches. We had three chances to clear our lines from the corner eventually conceding the goal with ten men in & around the box. We certainly didn't deserve to lose the game as we were the better footballing side as expected on home soil but scoring goals & keeping clean sheets is what counts, we did neither & it ultimately cost us three points.

As for Swansea, you were disciplined & defended magnificently, your players pressed & harried us into mistakes making it difficult to for us to get a foothold in the game. The Swans took one of their two chances (the other one where our keeper had to make a save) & defended efficiently & that's how to win games especially in tight encounters.

Leeds look far more comfortable on our travels. ER use to be a fortress, now it's more like a sweet shop!

Look forward to the return match at the Liberty stadium

Aye, we managed to take one of our 2 chances and Leeds missed all 3 of theirs.

Pretty much how I saw it.

If we finish above Leeds we go up automatically IMO.

We have played better with the ball in every game, but when it's not happening you have to steel it out.

To win it was magnificent, the celebrations by all massively justified.

Of course we have mate

I've been following Leeds for 56 years & experienced some woeful displays especially over the last fifteen years.

I was at the Liberty stadium eight years ago when you battered us 3-0 with Scott Sinclair running rings round us, I think Luke Moore scored the other goal. Swansea were easily the best side I witnessed in your promotion season .

Newport, Histon, Rochdale, Sutton are all painful memories in cup games in recent times.

Even the great Revie side suffered poor form with some embarrassing defeats. We were very fortunate to beat the Swans in a 1970 cup match at ER

Colchester in 71 is the one I remember. In those days anything like that was a seismic shock.

I don't think you created much threatening yesterday to be honest. Half chances at best, other than the header from a set piece and the scramble that was blocked. Everything else was pretty comfortable. If you'd scored I was confident we could change it up and haul it back, but we obviously came for the bottle you up and smash and grab that we got. So if you'd taken a chance, it would have been an entirely different game, unless it was a last minute goal, but there was only one team doing that.

We will be susceptible to that ourselves at home I think. We've looked fairly toothless in every first half so far at the Lib.

Anyway, I said this last season but we were far too patchy, but I'll say it again. I don't expect either team to be far away at the sharp end.

That Colchester game shocked the football world at the time with their big centre-forward Ray Crawford inspirational with two goals in our cup exit

Agree we didn't create much as we huffed & puffed for the majority of the game, credit to the Swans who stifled us & made it very difficult for us to play our natural game, defensively you were very good, clean sheets & you don't lose games.

Early days but I'll be surprised i f the Swans & Leeds are not challenging for a promotion place come the end of the season.

See you at the Liberty next Easter

Well if it’s any consolation your boys harried us all over the park , to the extent that we couldn’t really dictate play how we like to. But for Leeds it’s a matter of urgency to get a good striker , you had so many shots but only three on target and then they weren’t really testing our keeper.

We were resolute in defence but I always knew we have the capability to grind out a result by nicking a goal. And at the best possible time too.

A word about the atmosphere, it was superb. You don’t get the same in the PL.

Best of luck 64, as long as we can win the league you can come up with us in 2nd place . And apologies if some of our fans are bad winners, some people have no grace mate.

I posted in another thread that I thought you were a little fragile at home games. Personally I think teams may have worked out how to frustrate you, and if anything will hinder your promotion aspirations it will be wether Bielsa can work on a plan B or C. Granted I think not many teams will be as good as we were at your place, but too many times last season you slipped up at home.
Having a mass of possession doesn't guarantee results ( we've learnt that and are now adjusting accordingly).

There a clip on twitter of their centre half bending down and shoulder charging Baston off the ball like he was scrummaging him. Alls fair in love, war and football.

That was crazy, the bloke was basically in a bear crawl shoving Borja from behind and the ref gave a FK in his favour. They were filthy but just on the right side of dangerous. Dirty horrible little club.
