Would love to see Ollie do so. Not sure we could achieve four or five seasons there, and not sure we should aspire to.
Foot ball is too weird for words these days. If we did, for one season, and gave the grimness of all grim games to the scum one more time that would do me. If we got relegated again no problem. Just to stick it up the scum again win or lose. Just to see the melts crumble again.
Over to you.

I think for once a lot of us aren't screaming about signings that need to be made. I know I'd like to see us stick with broadly the same squad for next year. Sure, move Henry and Caulker on - I also wouldn't mind seeing a bit of competition at full back.
So much of The Championship is just keeping on going through the mountain of f*cking games, it seems like Ollie has got the team believing in his methods now, keep the same team together focused going into next season and I think that could carry us quite a long way.
Will we be good enough next season, I don't see why not. Would it be good for us to go up, yes I think it would. Some think TF and Co will make the same mistakes, I am confident that that, will not happen. Promotion is the aim of the investors, and for most fans, to pit your wits and play against the top teams, is the ultimate goal surely. I don't understand why some would want to stay in this league for another couple of seasons, if were good enough at the time then we deserve it, end of story.

Pretty hard to know what's going to happen in football. In the QPR Podcast in September JFH said that Chery was the centre of the team and that Polter was 'crucial'.

Or... We could win our remainig 9 games to end up with 74p which has been enough for playoff's most seasons..
Has been for 3 of the last 4, but I don't think it would be enough this year looking at how many points the top 6 already have. Interesting to note that Blackpool scraped into the play-offs in 6th when they went up. Can't remember the manager.
Nice thought though!

In his preview Clive described Leeds as setting the standard. Considering how well we played yesterday I believe we can achieve a top 6 place next season. The key will be reaching yesterday's level. not once every three games, but consistently.
"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one's lifetime." (Mark Twain)

That's what took us up under Warnock, not easy as we know but what prompted my question. I think we have to look beyond and not just see promo as a single objective but to stay in that League for a few seasons and consolidate financially without spunking a load. Almost impossible, but Sunderland have done so well. So we could. I'm not sure we are ready to be a regular in that League yet. We shall see. We have a fantastic crop of youngsters making the first team and for me that is Sir Les' legacy, cant believe he has achieved it quite so quickly, genuinely expected the boy Furlong to be on loan for a couple of seasons and here he is putting in a very fine shift against Leeds and starting. Very proud of QPR lately, long my it continue.
In 1977 the boo boys jumped on Frank Sibley after Sexton left and we lost out best players and then and now just wanted to say grab your ankles there's a train coming. Slagging off your own achieves what? Large slices of humble i need serving at certain tables, they wont admit it of course, but things are changing for the better.

Back in 1977 I think Jim Gregory must have had a bit of a cash flow problem as the signings which were made consisted of Brian Williams, Ernie Howe, Paul McGee.
Frank Sibley got a raw deal in my opinion. Its a shame that our great team on 75/76 was not properly backed up but if you look at the squad depths in the late 70''s there were an extremely low amount of players used
Leighton James I think was P/Ex with Derby for Don Masson and David Needham was a dodgy signing as Notts County wouldnt sell him to Forest so we had him for 3 months then sold him to Forest.
Move forward to 1979 when Tommy Doc arrived (again) and Jim must have been flush again as he spent loads on the like of Burke, Currie, Davidson,Hill, McCreery, Walsh , Wicks and Woods

Uncle Jim hadn't exactly loosened the purse strings that much for Dave Sexton though. In the two and a half years he was in charge IIRC his main purchases were:
Don Masson in December '74 for 100K Don Rogers was part exed from Palace for Venners and Ian Evans Don Shanks signed as back up full back from Luton Hollins signed from the SW6 pikeys for 80K
75-76 the only serious money shelled out was about 80K on Peter Eastoe Martyn Busby returned from Notts County for about 50K
In fact it was probably this chronic lack of investment in the great team that made the fall from grace so sudden from the 76/77 season on. Quite a difference when you think how he'd backed Gordon Jago in building that great team: Stan - 110K from Carlisle Dave Thomas - 170K from Burnley (when the transfer record had just been broken to £225K (Nish to Derby) Don Givens - 100K from Luton Webb - 120K from 'them'

That;s how I've learned to understand it, on economics, but I never understood the 10 pence boo boys then or now.
Whatever became of Peter Eastoe?

2 months to the day since this thread was started which was then followed by an "impressive" draw away to Leeds and then a comfortable 5-1 against Rotherham despite not playing well.
I'm going to choose to ignore the remaining 8 matches of the season as they are very unhelpful to my argument!
I did a "6months is a long time in football" post a couple of days ago by reposting the "Holloway Confirmed" thread and this thread proves that 2 months is a long time in football.
I'm off to post on the Holloway stay or go thread...
