Bywater, McCombe, Furman and Robinson would certainly add experience to the squad. And a fair amount in wages.

He's looking for a bigger club than Doncaster... http://www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk/sport/doncaster-rovers/doncaster-rovers-conf “Reece [Wabara] and Dean [Furman] were different,” he added. “We sat down with them and spoke to their representatives and they expressed a desire to perhaps have a look a little higher. “When we spoke to them we had to say that we respect their opinion and want them to get a club at a higher level but, at the same time, considering the problems we’ve encountered in previous seasons we don’t want to be in a situation again with players who’ve been with us the previous season are not contracted for the forthcoming season. “They’re two fantastic kids who I’ve got a lot of time for and I spoke with them this morning to wish them all the best and thank them for, not just their time at Doncaster but also the relationship I’ve had with them over the last five years of management."

I think affordability is going to the big issue this summer. Those released from English clubs are going to be looking for higher wages. If we’re really looking for a decent forward that we would have a chance of getting, then Gavin Reilly would be the capture of the summer for a team at our level, in my opinion. He is better than Declan McManus, too. However, I don’t think we’ll sign a player from Scotland while Hilly is in charge. He doesn’t seem to sign players that he hasn’t seen or heard of (which is fair enough). For example, I doubt Lee Johnson has ever seen Conrad Balatoni play, but I’ve no doubt he will have had a scout in Scotland to watch him (something we don’t have or do). Whenever I sign for comp tickets at games up here, there are always representatives from some English club or other listed on there. Strangely, players like Balatoni are only now featuring on the radars of English clubs — but have been performing strongly for a good few seasons. Same with the likes of Stevie May, who would have been available for peanuts a few years ago. I’m not sure, therefore, just how consistent the scouting is of Scottish-based players. They seem to be bought when their stock is at its highest, which means paying a premium if a transfer fee is involved. There is much to be said of striking early and acquiring potential. I’m surprised it’s not a market we’ve tapped into, given our limited resources. Going against other English clubs for ‘known’ English-based players will, more often than not, see us come off second best (as has been acknowledged by Hill on many an occasion). Whereas if we went for a Scottish-based player we would, in the main, be up against clubs against who we could financially compete. We also have some leeway with development fees. I'm not 100 per cent on this, but I believe a rule exists whereby the necessity for a development fee is cancelled if the club fails to offer the player a new contract (on the same or greater terms than his last) within 60 days of it expiring (cross-border transfer) or 30 days of it expiring (transfer within Scotland). Where payable, these fees are usually fairly low, too.

The enormous released list from clubs around the country on 16:02 - May 19 with 5094 views | ChaffRAFC | We all know Bobby Grant is a top player. He's a complete tool off the pitch but bloody good player. Gary Mackenzie is a proven centre back. Big lad, strong in the air and experienced at our level. Still only 29 as well so must be well worth a look. Mellis, we've already been linked with. Cywka was under used when he was here but he's a very good player. Whitey's comments about Perkins has put me off, along with his age but if he can get somewhere near his best again then he'd be a top signing. Nathan Delfouneso is an interesting one. Clearly lots of talent but doesn't score that many goals (then again, who does at Blackpool). Would be very interested in this lad. Darren O'Dea is class isn't he? I always thought he was really highly rated when he was at Celtic and Leeds? There's certainly a lot to go at here and if we can't get ourselves a much improved squad from this list then we never will.
| If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor |

Frank Nouble. Keith loved him. We'd already had him on loan when Robins was boss, he was awful, never scored, missed sitters. When Keith brought him back (we were losing every game by then) it was one of those moments where even I struggled to defend Keith. But he told us that Nouble was much better now and his previous spell wasn't a clue to how he'd perform this time. Nouble was again useless and couldn't score for toffee. However, he's like Etuhu in that he's got so many natural attributes that make up a good modern day player, mainly physical. But if it's not there in the head, mentally, then you end up with Nouble/Etuhu. Danny Haynes was another one. Pace to burn, and could finish. But awful technique and a terribly lazy attitude. Keith loves a project though.

Shaun Miller is an interesting one. Not prolific but was highly rated at Crewe before going on to sign for Sheffield United. Didn't work out for him there, and didn't work out for him at Coventry. It didn't even work out for him when he went on loan to York (he was on the bench) but he's the sort of player that Hilly goes for. There's an article saying that he'll listen to all offers (course he will, he wants a wage!), and I'd like to think we can out do York on wages if we wanted to sign him. He's from Alsager, so reasonably local, and more local than York! http://www.yorkpress.co.uk/SPORT/12906272._I_d_definitely_listen_to_all_offers__
