It's a well known fact. The philosophy is akin to the mes que un club mantra.
They want to develop rounded individuals as well as footballers.
They also work on the rubbish in = rubbish out principle. Brains over brawn, or in the case of Dani Alves' tattoo - 'futbol es para listos'
Of course results become important, but I refer you to a post I made a while back. My academy team lost to their development team. One of my players is a premier league player - the biological giants = no premier league players
