Can anyone remember going on the private away trips from the old Double Decker stand in the late 70's/early 80's.
I seem to think it was Dave & Anne from Brynmill (son Roger) but the bus came from Burry Port and we also picked up in Swansea, Morriston and Skewen (Gordon and the gang).
We had some amazing trips Preston away was the best of all 10,000 Swans fans standing behind the goal (pre Hillsbrough) I lost my shoe in the surge and never saw it again !!
Some of the best days I can remember following the Swans were from our seats in the Double Decker from 1977 (Harry Griffiths) to 1980 (Tosh) and some tense games Chesterfield home on a Friday night and also a stand full of Sheffield Wednesday fans when they were banned from away travel.
Happy Days indeed and on reflection the real start of the rollercoaster journey of following Swansea City moving on to the nadir of 1985 and closure followed by a series of misfits over a number of years for our club (apart from the Harry Griffiths Bar days when Suzanne Eames was behind the bar before being promoted to kit!) returning to the success of recent times under Kenny Jacket, Roberto, some Portuguese guy,Brendan, Laudrup and now Monks.
All that history packed into 30+ years I have witnessed far more exciting times than Arsenal Wenger qualifying for the Champions League 17 seasons running !!! (How Boring).

Anyone else remember those trips and any anecdotes to share ????????

Remember Preston very well, was also at the Chesterfield game. One of my favs was Alan Waddle scoring the winner in the 27th minute of injury time against, I forget the team, and all the NB staying behind until the players came out and accepted our adulation. We had some huge crowds in those days considering the leagues we were in.

Re Alan Waddle can you remember that banner on the East Terrace one night :

'Alan Waddle lays on more balls than Fiona Richmond'

He lived in Dunvant and was at Liverpool with Tosh but from Wallsend originally.

PNE away '81 was a great day from start to finish. Went by train from C*ff (Uni days!) with a mate from West Cross and another from Dynvant, then back to C*ff, loud and proud!

Sunderland away first season in top flight . Bus from Quadrant left about 3 or 4am. Middle of January or February minus God knows what. Lost 2 nil I think. Coach got bricked after match, travelled home with no rear window!!! Was fckn freezing. Longest coldest journey of my life. Got back to Quadrant about 2 or 3am next day. Walked home to Gorseinon. Utter madness.

I would never do that these days.

But great times in a different era.

Oh,..Dave, what's occuring?

Got bricked at QPR in '80. I can feel that freezing cold experience you speak of, even now!

Did anyone on here get on the double deckers buses outside Barons for a Redturd match.
Our bus and 1 other stopped just before Canton and we qalked about a mile and a half to the ground, when arriving at the traffic lights on the main road junction of onion park the field opposite was all redturds and the thought at first we were fellow supports out to get Jacks

I was on one of the special trains that went to Preston. I remember having to get on a double decker bus from Preston station to the ground where everybody inside it tried to tip it over by moving side to side as it was doing 30 mph.

Also remember our train stopping at Stoke on the way home when the Blackburn fans train pulled in coming back from Bristol Rovers who we pipped for promotion on the last day. All good banter.

I was there. As a 13 year old I went on the train with my dad and what a day to have your first away trip. I couldn't believe the scale of our support , coming towards deepdale all you could see was row upon row of coaches.
Got bricked by the Bridgend Cardiff fans on the way back, hope the police gave them a bloody good kicking

I used to go on Merle's bus. Good times.

Remember going to Filbert Street on a Tuesday night when Leicester were going for promotion. It was March time. Tosh scored a screamer to put us one up. Fortunately they equalised but 1-1 was not a good result for them. Very hostile all game and the handful of us there were given a police escort through the terraced house (like the Vetch) back to our bus. The fans are still the same today.

I was on that bus! I remember Merle's son. Turned out to be one of the best looking and hardest bastads I've ever come across. Women still drool over him even to this day.

Back then, I was 8, 9, 10 years old. I grew up in Manchester so Dad would take me to many of the northern games. If we were there early enough we would see the supporters' coaches arrive, and I thought you were all the greatest thing in the world. A sight to behold. Huge numbers of people who supported MY team, when, at school, I was only ever greeted with, "Who?"

Of course, now I know some of you and realise that you are almost all complete arseholes. Kind of ruined the magic.
