Its looking more and more likely, Monk will not be manager permanently.

Is that the popular vote ?

Think Monk fans are accepting this at last.

Thank you, old chap. I did mention the relegation battle bit above but that was conveniently ignored.

Perhaps PS actually stands for Planet Stepford...

Or planet step toe and son

How many of you know what DP stands for?

So is the point that we don't want monk or we don't want monk without a good number 2?

The point is that appointing a rookie is a massive risk when going into a relegation battle in the best league in the world.

Appointing a rookie with a number 2 who's also a rookie is just f*cking bonkers.

It might be bonkers but it might be genius as well. Time will tell.

Agree that the succession planning's been a bit rubbish though.

What about Curt?

Monk will be part of the new management structure. That much seems obvious. Question is whether he's #1 with an experienced head behind him or as part of someone else's team.

At the time he was appointed I favoured the second option. As things have gone on I'm coming around more to the first, although in any case he'll need an experienced head to bounce ideas off.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

This

What team has Monk got supporting him, advising him, scouting.

Short term, getting by on Laudrups coat tails.

Everything going wrong at moment is Laudrups fault, everything right ( we beat 2nd from bottom Cardiff, knocked out of FA cup, Europa ) is Monks motivational skills.

As someone posted, Monk and Laudrup could have been a good team.

Laudrup truly shafted by his Captain and player power. Thats no captain in my eyes.

Laudrup has gone, but why temp manager and some players keep knocking him, pitiful. Grow some balls, you were captain / playing on pitch, what- we didn't play our best because we didn't get a cuddle, train in afternoons, had a day off.

If Laudrup had let them go to races he would have been slaughtered. Double standards are embarrassing.

Out of 2 cups and 1 win against s poor team, get real.

Monk no better, prob worse than Laudrup as far ad results are concerned.

If he says its all about performance, not results once more.......... seriously. Give me results any day, thats the proof of a good performance.

Talked the talk, now walk the walk over next few fixtures. Wba, win or bust. If we don't win this, then seriously. Some would still blame Laudrup for something he said or did.

Team need to man up. If they keep blaming past for failings and keep praising new regime for improvement, early days yet, why didn't they play for shirt b4, none of them come out if this looking good.

Just a few points, the cup games, we weren't really expecting to beat Everton even with a full first team. We have been struggling while they are going well. Napoli, do I really have to point out to you that we had a really good go and probably deserved better against Champions league quality? Under Laudrup (the way things had been going) we would have sleepwalked out of the competitions like we dozed our way to defeat at WHU.
The result doesn't prove the performance. You cannot keep playing poorly and winning. As our gradual slide down the table was proving. And when all is said and done, the team we have is Laudrups and Monk has to work with it. I doubt if Monk will get the job permanently and with Koeman interested we can be sure top quality managers are looking at us.

WBA is NOT a win or bust game. The only win or bust game we will have this season is if we are in a relegation spot and need a win to escape/avoid going down. It is a very important game, but win or bust....NAH!!

We are not getting by on anyone's coat tails, Laudrup is no longer here. It's the Laudrup sycophants that keep on going on about him. It's boring now, HE'S GONE, live with it.

You say grow some balls, maybe the people who spoke out to the board did grow some balls. The easy thing to do would be keep your mouth shut and get on with it.

Ultimately, the manager carries the can. Performances were getting worse as moral and confidence drained from the players. Your constant refusal to understand that is baffling.
Maybe Monk isn't the man for the job in the long term, but he's all we have got right now and he deserves our support. He's only been there a while and he'll make mistakes. it took us 11 months to turn on Laudrup, doesn't Monk deserve some patience and support too?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

It's tough love but he shouldn't be given the job as the top guy. I think he'll thank us more when he grows into a top coach in the future, perhaps at Swansea City, but not now.

I haven't seen one valid point as to why he should be given the job, apart from 'he knows the club and players', heh.

I'm not sure though that I've disagreed with that?
