LFW Betting Preview - Burnley v QPR

The betting column returns looking ahead to our trip to Burnley and for value elsewhere in the weekend markets.

Profits for both pundits last week with brian winning on two football bets to the tune of £32.37 and getting a £15 refund on a cancelled bet from the Leeds column which I missed to leave him up £12.37 on the week, plus £90 on Jimmy Anderson being the top bowler in the Ashes - a running total profit of £188.73 overall.. Andy too walked away £24.89 to the good last week having backed against QPR at Blackburn to reduce his losses to £57.61.

Finally a week in profit! It’s been so long I’ve forgotten what that feels like!

Gutted for Mackie, obviously, but delighted that we’re out of the FA Cup, and can now concentrate on the league. Here’s hoping that the loss of Mackie and Walker doesn’t destabilise the team, and that Vaagan Moen and Orr can step into the breach for us. We’re up at Burnley on Saturday, probably just in time for Eddie Howe to join and for them to have new manager syndrome. It’s going to be tough, especially without Mackie and Walker, but the odds on a Burnley win @ 7/5 don’t convince me. QPR are actually as long as 12/5 for the win on Betfair, and the draw is available at similar odds. Which makes betting on QPR this week slightly difficult – I don’t think that Burnley will win, but I can’t really lay Burnley, because the fact that they’re not odds on means that I could be in line for a big loss if they do win.

After all that nonsense, I’m going to plump for the draw, available at 3.45 or 5/2 on Betfair. Although I was sorely tempted by a QPR to win, draw-no-bet, available at 13/10 with Coral.

I’m also going to stick a fiver on Taarabt to score at anytime, available at 13/5 with Paddy Power, and finally £2 on Vaagan Moen to score first, available at 25/1 with Stan James, who will refund my £2 if the match is goalless…

Elsewhere, I’m going to do a little bit of stat’s betting this week:

100% (10/10) of Wigan's home games have gone Under 10.5 Corners

90% (9/10) of Newcastle's away games have gone Over 3.5 Cards/ 35.5 Booking Points (and it’s the derby this week as well…)

The odds are not yet available for all of these at time of writing, but I anticipate getting around evens for all of them – will stick a fiver on each of these bets and see how I get on.

For my weekend multiple, and I’ve gone for a straight forward fivefold, with Chelsea, Leeds, Man City, Rangers and Swindon to all win, at odds of 6/1 with Betfair. Finally, I noticed that on Sunday, there are three derbies being played – in Birmingham, Merseyside and Tyne and Wear. All three being draws are 33/1 - £3 there is worth £100 if it comes off…

For the weekend:

Burnley vs. QPR – Draw - £10 @ 5/2 (Betfair)

Taarabt to Score anytime - £5 @ 13/5 (Paddy Power)

Vaagan Moen to score first £2 @ 25/1 (Stan James)

Sunderland vs. Newcastle - Over 3.5 Cards/ 35.5 Booking Points - £5 @ TBC

Wigan vs. Fulham - Under 10.5 Corners - £5 @ TBC

Birmingham vs. Aston Villa, Sunderland vs. Newcastle, Liverpool vs. Everton all draws - £3 @ 33/1 (Betfair)

Chelsea, Leeds, Man City, Rangers and Swindon to all win - £10 @ 6/1 (Betfair)

I made the mistake last week of not doing my homework and took the 10/11 on Blackburn where Andy got a better price. Schoolboy error. Alongside two of the cup predictions going through returned 32.35 from last weeks predictions add to that the £90 returned from Jimmy Anderson being top wicket taker means our loses from the last couple of weeks are covered.

This week we head back to the North West and Burnley . The Clarets have some decent players but until recently the wrong boss. Now Laws has gone if they appoint the right man they can get a play off place. But I fancy us for the win and will go for a 2-1 correct score and stick with Gorkks to score first.

Elsewhere this Sunday sees three big derbies and Spurs v Man U. I don't thing there will be much in each game so will have a lucky 15 on the correct score 1-1 for each game and a yankee on them to be draws.

Kempton will stage the postponed King George on Saturday and Kauto Star is the hot favourite, however I will go for Riverside Theatre ew at decent odds who has won 5 from 5 at this track. I'll also have an across the cards Lucky 15.

Finally I'll have the usual football accas. Best of luck.
