Southampton 3 v 3 Tottenham Hotspur FA Premier League Saturday, 18th March 2023 Kick-off 15:00 |
SaintPaulVW added 17:35 - Mar 18 Draw that felt like a win. Losing 2 CBs was a bit careless. Salisu looked like he had never been away tho. Same old silly mistakes to let in 3 goals. However 2 good goals and a penalty got us back in it. Hopefully this fightback will be good for morale. Sulemana started to show what we bought him for. Theo put in an excellent performance. AMN looking good. Right subs allowed Mara and Alcaraz to add a bit of drive in the final 20 minutes of the game. Bottom of the table looks like a group of death now COYR silverspringsaint added 17:35 - Mar 18 Wow, that was a bit better. After a drought, goals came in a clump this time including one each for Che and Theo! In the manner of this game, the draw felt like a win and gives more grounds for hope. Positives - Theo finding good spaces, Sulemana showing us some cameos of his frightening pace, Mara was lively and more effective than hitherto, Lavia great in midfield as ever. Negatives - losing two defenders early on, acres of space on our left side in the first half that Porro eventually exploited, our defensive struggles on set pieces contra our lack of any end product in our corners! silverspringsaint added 17:43 - Mar 18 Wow, that was a bit better. It’s like playing with 10 men leighsaint added 18:01 - Mar 18 Why when spurs scored their first goal was no won out on the left back side neither Perrund or Elyounoussi were no where and why Elyounoussie even on the pitch. ABK obviously has an ongoing weakness with his shoulder popping out & JB's broken ribs will keep out for 6 weeks. I thought it was a real gutsy performance today with everybody stepping up. Theo had his best game for us & showed real leadership qualities (about time). Where there's life there's hope. aceofthebase added 18:35 - Mar 18 SFC_Referee added 19:16 - Mar 18 Fair play to Selles for playing Walcott, Elynousie and the trio he brought on in the second half, as all 5 of them did have decent games and did prove many doubters (including myself) wrong over the criticism he was getting after the team sheet came out Avior added 19:34 - Mar 18 Well that was a strange one. Usual pedestrian stuff and stupid goal conceded and then real helter skelter for the second half. Complicated by two first half subs meaning it was all three subs or nothing in the second half so he had to leave it later. When we went 3-1 down and loads of people started leaving the Spurs fan I was with said they were stupid and boy was he right. Very interesting that JWP instigated a team huddle on conceding the 3rd. Got the team going and then the crowd. Deserved a draw. Looks like its Salisu & DCC for the rest of the season with Lyanco to really test our nerves.
