Latest Saints Manager Odds ! Who Is The Dark Horse at 33/1
Sunday, 19th Jun 2016 23:05

Who are the movers in Sunday's betting odds on who will replace Ronald Koeman as manager of Southampton Football Club.

Manuel Pellegrini starts the week as the favourite for the St Mary's hot seat, the best odds you can get for him are 3/1 with other companies lower.

In second place is Claude Puel with a best price of 4/1 the same price that you can get on Rudi Garcia despite the fact that he seems to have been ruled out by Saints or turned the job down, depending on who you believe in the media.

In fourth place and out of nowhere is Walter Zenga who has been linked by that bastion of headlines with substance The Sun. He is available at 12/1 if you believe their latest attempt at stirring the brown stuff for Les Reed.

Then we start to get the long shots, Eddie Howe, AVB, Carlos Carvalhal, Ernesto Valverde and Unai Emery.

Interesting mover though is Ryan Giggs, you can get 33/1 on him, however SkyBet are down to 16/1 and that could trigger a rush at the bookies tomorrow as some people consider that Sky Bet may be getting insider info from Sky Sports.

Certainly whilst Giggs has not got any managerial experience in his own right, it would not surprise me if he was considered by Saints, he has several years experience as numer two to both David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal as well as plenty of contacts in the game.

Latest press reports say he is about to announce that he will leave Old Trafford despite Jose Mourinho saying he can name his own job apart from his former role as assistant manager.

Giggs is known to want a career in management and now thinks his best chance of the United job he so covets will be to prove himself elsewhere.

Against him though would be his troubled personal life and the fact that his wife is still seeking a divorce, that being the case he would be loathe to move far from Manchester and his children, especially whilst he still harbours hopes of a reconciliation.

So who do you think it will be ? an appointment is likely in the coming week but will it be an obvious choice or will the appointment be a surprise.

I have a feeling I'm not sure if it would be good or bad, as a player/coach he is very professional, as a man he is a mess

The bookies don't know any more than we do, I hope Les and co do know more than we do. Re Giggs - no experience as a manager and looking to use us as a stepping-stone. No that's less likely than Zenga. If Pellegrini is available and willing I think we should take him - I read somewhere though that he was off to Valencia.

I see it's gone very quiet in the press about Unai Emery taking over at PSG.
I wouldn't mind having a quality manager come in for two or three years with Kelvin Davies as his assistant.
Once he leaves, we could have Kelvin as manager with Fonte along side him.

Just remember, the Bookies' odds are set by the amount of money bet on a particular outcome compared to other outcomes, NOT the actual probability of that outcome. Koeman was nowhere in the betting when he was appointed. It seems to me that the Saints' board tend to keep these decisions secret. I would not be surprised to see an appointment made to someone not even mentioned by the bookies.

Did Sammy Lee go to everton with koeman?
If not, I would like to see him retained with whoever takes charge.

Don't know who it will be or when, just know we need to get our finger out and sort it quickly. We may not have liked RK going to Everton but at least they knew who they wanted and sorted it out quickly. Spurs get the player they want before July. Whilst others are sorting out their close season we are, as per usual, spending the first half of it losing people and players rather than getting ready for the next season, and history says, we start our seasons slowly - I wonder why?
