We still currently have Clarke Salter, Kolli, Dembele, Celar and Anderson, all currently injured as well, it's the amount of players, we have that we can call on, that is massive...
For many seasons, if Willock or Chair got injured, we were done for.
We have even temporarily added seemingly another couple of quality loans in Edwards and Yang also.
Suddenly we are competitive and can cope even if we lose half a team, heady days indeed !!
For last two years before this fantastic run of form, like most, when I have been walking up to grounds before the games, I have been experiencing impending doom.
This hasn't been the case for the last few months, so currently it feels amazing and brilliant with all that's happened recently.
Yet, there is still a few that will still moan and whinge.
We have to enjoy this time, as we all know, moments in time such as these are rare following our occasionally brilliant, but often flawed football team.
We have had periods in our not so distant past when every single player seemed out for themselves. Even the Taraabt season, when it was about the man, never have seen such team togetherness as our squad as right now. Considering so many young players and many from far flung place around the globe, I think team bonding and togetherness.has clearly been grown within the entire squad.
Saito and Smyth interview was brilliant. You can see end of each game, we get to cheer individually the game changers and are pushed forward by others.Players on the bench or taken off, all celebrate together. Saw it when Frey jumping up and down after being subbed, Alfie is one that the gets excited if we win a throw in.
Am sure Marti and his team have a lot to do with this. He can see players strengths and comes across as very approachable but also very professional too. Definitely shows a lot of support for players but can also make the tough decisions for the good of the game. With the modern way of operating in all aspects of life, am certain there must be people who actually contribute to ways in which the team can become more engaged with each other, in the sense that they all seem like a group of mates, having fun together.
Am very very aware, that this is all very easy to see, if we consistently getting such positive results, but am sure there is an element of truth in it and it's helping the team. The support for Jimmy after the sad loss of his father was a clear example. And the delight when Celar finally broke his duck this season.
Yes you can still win, if the players all can't stand each other, but in contrast to some dreadful squads we have had in the past, it's fantastic to see and I think it's been another key element in our success.
Ezes sale from Palace has more chance of happening in January as the release clause comes back into operation at £68 million at the end of the season.
For me, I don't think he is value at £68 million, so reading between the lines, there could be more interest in him now as teams could get him at a much reduced transfer fee. Palace were very surprised no one came in for him last season and his stock was seemingly higher then also.
The main stumbling block is rumours abound that Palace want to keep him and he is contracted there up and till 2027.
This particular money tree, I don't think is coming our way anytime soon unfortunately.
It's been a pleasure to see so many aspects of our club going so well in the last couple of months but to be so quick off the mark to get in a quality centre back in so quickly - ahead of many rivals was superb work.
Edwards is highly thought of and when quick fire injuries to two key centre backs, we cover ourselves getting in Edwards immediately.
He was very assured today.
Well done Rangers - what is all this good news about !!!
Paal down the left for Morgan to run onto and Frey to put away a low cross.
Then there was:
Paal horizontal pass across to Chair to stirke and we all know most of Ilias Shots go 35 yards wide so we then place our Fox in the Box to Scorpion back heel the ball at two miles an hour into the opposite corner.
With Frey and Lloyd playing so well today and Kolli also having a few decent performances on the back of Celar finally breaking his duck, i decided to check how Charlie Kelman has been doing at Leyton Orient in league One.
Thought he may have got maybe two or three goals but was very surprised to see he has :
10 goals and 4 assists so far this season.
He has only just turned 23.
I didn't think he has looked up to Championship football, but seems a decent haul. I am not sure if he is out of contract here when he returns but if he manages 20 goals and 8 assists ie doubling for the rest of the season ie we just past halfway, maybe he is improving.
