We do seem to be missing a lot of players.

Great news. A top bloke, who was much underrated and often messed about in the quest for better, which often did not materialise. Getting dropped for Magnus Norman was a real low point.

An absolutely brilliant victory. To get 20 wickets on that pitch is amazing, especially when Pakistan's much vaunted attack managed 7 and a few of them were due to chasing a few late runs.

Stokes might be back for the next test, which offers an interesting dilema as to who to leave out. The match is being played at the same ground, but hopefully on a better pitch.

They didn't do too bad did they and even declared before tea. Probably three wickets away from victory as I doubt Ahmed will bat after being in hospital. Again the pitch has not really done much and half of their wickets to fall have been down to poor shots.

That's what I mean. It is implausible, but the pitch is that flat that it is not impossible. We lost two wickets all day, which scoring at near enough five an over. One of those to a poor shot and the other to a misjudgement. You could have counted the number of 'good balls' on one hand.

If we can get a lead of 200+ it might be game on. Pakistan recently collapsed in their second innings against Bangladesh in a similar situation.

I'm not sure the pitch is, or will rapidly deteriorate though.

Great for Joe, but an awful pitch for test cricket.

I am really surprised that Jim did not throw his players under a bus by having a go at them to a random supporter, which could have then been plastered over the forum and/or social media if the supporter was that way inclinded (not saying that you are). What was said behind closed doors may be a different matter. Jim will always support his players in the public arena and rightly so.

Kyron Gordon has already posted about the game on X and he is obviously gutted. He has had a good season and one game should not tar his achievements so far.

I think as well that as supporters we need to be a bit more forgiving. We are playing in the fifth tier of English football and as long as the effort is consistent there will be inconsistencies in performances and errors a long the way.

In his home appearances he has worked hard, but nothing really has come off. It is a good opportunity for him to start today and make and impact.

It is good to see Henry back.

In our system Barlow is more suited to the role McBride and Rodney are playing. It was telling that Edwards was on the bench ahead of him. We are a bit overloaded with wide forwards.

A win is a win. Not great but if we are chasing a spot in the top 7 then these are the games we need to win. McNichols played well but bar the goal and a few chances from set pieces we didn't create much.

I thought we missed another central midfielder. Burger tried but hopefully Henry is back next week and that longer term Gilmour isn't injured for too long.

A shame Notts filled their boots today. Lancs need someone to step up tomorrow. Maybe the day for some Flintoff heroics?

An excellent statement which should allay some of the fears that issues behind the scenes are not being addressed, or even identified. This medium term plan sounds exciting.

Last season Salt did play a few red ball games, as did Wood. I do agree that form has been awful this season and Mahmood playing sparingly has affected the seam bowling resources. It is a bit ironic that it was muted that he was signing with Warwickshire, we then won the biding war for him and he has missed most of the last two seasons. I know it is not his fault, but it is another example of resources being tied up in players who are not available to play.

The best ability is availability. I am not sure we have that much depth? How many of the fringe players would start for a division one team? Blatherwick would be lucky to start for a second division team! A Surrey second string would probably finish mid table.

There are some younger players who show promise and Hurst has been the one shining light, with him performing well in all formats. A BBL season will do wonders for him and he may get an England Lions call up. Bell needs to push on and some younger seamers need to come through to eventually replace Williams and Bailey who have dropped off this season. Boyden is a good prospect, who have suffered from injury and Aspinwall could develop into a decent first change bowler and number 8. Barnard is also a highly regarded slow left armer, which will probably see Morley move on. Stanley is also a quick white ball bowler, but again, always injured.

I expect that we will get relegated. Recruitment needs to be much better. Jones from Durham has been signed, but he is not really a big name. We need some impactful overseas signings to help our younger players. Is Mitchell available?

And Luke Wood. The third seamer in red ball cricket has been a weakness all season. With the IPL, world cup and then the snack cricket we have seen very little of our international players. It is almost not worth having them.

A good idea would be for energy companies to introduce a lower priced tarriff which is below marked rates for less well off pensioners that they are automtically transfered to, no having to fill out forms etc. It will hit their profits but in reality the hit will be so small in relative terms.

I agree that well off people should not be receiving benefits at all. It is crazy that people in low paid jobs are paying tax to fund child benefit for households which could have an income of almost £120,000 a year.

The whole tax and benefits system is an absolute mess, but their is no will to reform it. There is no political capital in letting people keep more of their own money so they do not have to be in receipt of a range of benefits and it removes the electioneering of if you vote for X they will get rid of your benefits, or if you vote for Y they will give more money to 'scroungers'.

Playing in a relegation battle in the county championship is a marked difference to a dead rubber in the Metro Bank cup.

At least Matty Hurst is standing up to be counted. Great season for him. Maybe Flintoff will select him for the England Lions squad, especially the white ball one.

The rest is just a massive disappointment. The established players outside of Jennings have under performed and it is too much to asks the kids to step up and score the volume of runs needed.

Sometimes one step backwards to go two steps forward is needed. The youngesters can have a season against lesser competition to develop and hopefully sign a couple of impactful overseas players.

There is a lot of young talent and Hurst has had a good season. There have been a catalogue of issues mostly stemming from the coach. Inconsistent team selections, poor performance from senior players and lack of impact from overseas players have all contributed to a poor season. Recent championship performances have been dire and lacked fight with the bat.

The formation really suits Gordon and Beckwith being both defensively sound and good enough on the ball to contribute offensively.
