Agree. I hope to be visiting the UK next year, and, as someone with a distrust of internet purchases, I would be keen to buy books.

Just a fun trip down memory lane..............................

Had to put this up. Plenty of theme tunes with a 60's feel about at this time (The Persuaders, The Saint for example). I had to argue with my parents to be allowed to stay up for this series. Ahead of its time, and different.

Rest in Peace.
Buts lets not forget his co-pilot, Kevin Sinfield, who will soldier on with fund raising in his mates name. He deserves to be knighted IMHO.

And the bridge has been opened up!. The ground moved. New clubs accepted, and others gone.

I played in the same colts team as Littleborough stalwart Chris Dearden (Noddy), but at Rochdalians RUFC. He is still playing cricket, both with 'Boro, and England seniors. There was an excellent photo in the Observer of Noddy and Joel Garner crossing in midwicket...Garner is very tall, Noddy isn't.

Correct. Gaudeamus Igitur...How come there has never been a football chant to that?
Apologies to Diplodocus for our self indulgence, but side tracking often happens on this forum.

In answer to another post above, I made the effort to go to Owen Elbourne's funeral to pay my respects. He persuaded me into Rugby Union from League, and the contacts I made there led to life changing events for me.

Yeah..nah is my answer. I went there the year they changed the name, just had one year under W E A March, and then Wardell came in and it went downhill fast, despite McClelland's efforts.
If the Ogden's do come on board, I would not be against naming a stand after them after their coronation...The Stand Ogden seems to have a familiar ring to it.

A bit of a parallel with the guy in Oldham, and they quickly improved.
Business success, philanthropist, local, and scientific, all positives for me.
I wonder what influence W A E March, Owen Elbourne, and "Bull" Ramsey had on him?

I would not be surprised if the Wilbutts lane chippy has many tales of fans diverting their way home.

Is there some irony in that "a group of F1 drivers" are mentioned?
Things are moving fast, and going round in circles.

Following on from this, am i correct in thinking that parts of Scotland/Peak district/Wales are split into sections, to allow people to buy and become a "Lord"?
Who fancies being Lord Spotland of the Penalty spot? For a suitable fee to the club of course.
This may be the legal pathway to follow...If they can do it, so can the Trust or club.

I disagree. As professional players, they should be targeting 4 wins out of 4.

It is generally accepted that cenotaphs are in remembrance of any that fell in conflict, but most especially in the 2 world wars. I think I am correct in saying that in WW1, the British army Liberated Palestine from the Ottoman (Turkish) control. In WW2, around 12000 Palestinians fought for the British against Hitler, and many died. They are disrespecting the people they supposedly supporting.

There is one point in post by TS which needs to be followed up. Solar Power. I believe I read that Crown Oil were exploring Green energy alternatives, or something along those lines. Does that include Solar? Having a roof covered by solar panels with the name of the installer underneath is what I am thinking.
I have had Solar installed and I am seeing the benefits already (yes, I know we have more sun where I am) Definitely worth exploring.
