….is what people will say. But no QPR report in this morning's Times, but surprise, surprise a virtually full A3 size report on Frank Lampard's Coventry versus Wayne Rooney's Plymouth with two big pictures of the ‘star’ managers.
True ones please. Samuel Goldwyn of Metro Goldwyn Mayer films is offically named Samuel Goldfish. When he emigrated to the US from Poland, his actual name was Schmuel Goldfisz. The immigration officail misheard it as Samuel Goldfish which he remained for some years. Notta Lotta People Know That.
New rule apparently being considered by our rule (law?) makers would lead to the award of a corner kick if the goalie doesn't release the ball within 8 seconds. Poor old Preston….
The Beeb reporting supplies of Guinness could run low over Xmas due to spiralling demand. I'm a bitter man meself ( very bitter coming away from most Rs games), but choose Guinness if in a pub with no cask ale. Stock up - panic buy !
LFW is always a great place for advice. We have a Panasonic smart TV which provides super picture on terrestrial TV which we've always used. The wife coaxed me into stuff like Netflix but the picture is terrible. My wi-fi speed is fine. Google said try replacing the ethernet cable and try turning HDR on and off. No luck. Netflix help says it must be our “device” Any help ?
Further to the post re residents-only driving in Rivercourt Rd - hasn't started yet and unhelpfully, Hammersmith council haven't given a start date. In the first three weeks of the operation, warnings will be sent and thenceforth fines will be issued.
Just read in the local news that there is to be a circus there in the weeks leading up to Xmas. Last time this happened, oh some years ago now, I was driving past one day when some clown pulled right out in front of me.
Rivercourt Rd which runs between King St and the A4 Hammersmith, is now a residents only road with cameras, so fines will issued to anyone else driving along it. It was a popular cut-through to avoid the broadway, so I guess a bit of a 'mare for the residents.
The draw for the first round of the Predictive Text Cup has just been made. Pick of the first round games has to be Aston Village v Tottenham Court Road.
Not the drummer in a little-known pop group that had a few minor hits way back, but Hammersmith's parking payment system. It makes the Rs website look like a work of inspired genius. Anyone else (tried) using it ?
John Lewis have reinstated their old motto - Never Knowingly Undersold. Should be our fans' motto - QPR (est 1892) Never Knowlingly Undersold. Weeeelll, not often anyway.
Yes, the dreaded month is back, rivalled only by dry January. Mind you, I only drink twice a week these days - Monday to Thursday and Friday to Sunday.
As we approach another cock's-crow kick off time, as I mulled over my ale, it occured to me that if all this is a “success”, ie increased subs and ad revenue for Sky, we could be looking back at this season as the good old days when we still had some Sat 3pm kick offs. It surely behoves all those with Sky subs to cancel.
