I was in the Lamb yesterday DD, one day our paths will cross.

We we're good, Dunne scored an OG and now we're not very good. Amen.

Real shame, we've been the better team so far.

Absolutely this, file in the collective 'NOSTALGIA' draw. Already mentioned I know but see also:

'Clint Hill as defensive coach'

And as recently as when Critchley was the manager and every manager prior who wasn't Holloway:

'Ollie is available, we could do worse than bringing in to do a job and steady the ship'

Oasis Reunion 2025

I try and see the good in most things, including music and will always give stuff a chance. Inevitably though, music being an at form and subjective you're never going to like everything.

This lot though I just never got, not even a little bit. Even as impressionable 23 year old watching these clowns in the Enterprise in Camden then a year or so later in a tent at Glastonbury I thought they were utter gash as a live act. Static, motionless and trying to look hard whilst bashing out songs sounding like nursey rhyme B sides.

Fair play to them I suppose, they captured the hearts of many. For me though the most overrated band in my lifetime by some distance.

Leeds in the money….
at 10:15 20 Aug 2024

£73M was due in outstanding fees by June 2024, leaving around a £116M outstanding balance to be paid in the future.

Source: - Leeds fan who sits behind me in the office.

In all seriousness doesn't sound as though they've got an awful lot of wiggle room if true.

Last time I drank that stuff I was in Argentina in 2005 with two friends in a town resembling a Spaghetti Western set. Loved it.

In other news Mrs SF had 300 odd bottles of Corona left over from one of her events recently so she shipped them back here to HQ for me. My initial reaction was to complain about the brand tasting like anal water but its actually not bad, just checked its 4.50%. Probably tastes ok as I've been drinking other watered down crap for months reading the above.

The Jam at Guildford Civic Hall in 1982, I was twelve and my mum was having none of it. Same a year later for Thin Lizzy at Reading festival. She took me to see Queen at Wembley Arena a year later in 1984 though.

Book recommendation
at 10:58 3 Jul 2024

It won the Booker Prize in 2023 and for once it's justified and worth the hype.

"Prophet Song" by Paul Lynch, can't recommend it highly enough and eerily apt for the times we're currently living in.

"If there was ever a crucial book for our current times, it’s Paul Lynch’s Prophet Song. The Limerick-born author’s fifth novel imagines the Republic of Ireland slipping into totalitarianism after the rise of the rightwing National Alliance party which seizes total control in response to trade unionists lobbying for increased teachers’ wages. Civil liberties erode and civil war breaks out. Like a lobster in a boiling pot, people don’t realise their freedoms have been obliterated until it’s too late: “All your life you’ve been asleep, all of us sleeping and now the great waking begins.”
