Ramsdale
at 17:23 2 Aug 2024

The thing is, if we are going to persist with passing it out from the back, as seemed to be the case at Oxford on Wednesday, Ramsdale would be a whole lot more suited to this than McCarthy.

I suspect Martin is insisting we keep with this style of play as he is assuming we will be signing Ramsdale, or a similar style of keeper; and he wants the defence to be comfortable with it.

It must be glaringly obvious to him that McCarthy is wholly unsuited to it.

I know this will be deemed as utter lunacy by the right-wing element on here, but you have to invest in the public sector to grow the economy.

Without investment in the infrastructure, whether it be health, law and order, education or transport, there is no way the economy can grow.

To think these can be resolved mainly with capitalist initiatives is for the birds.

Rachel Reeves seems to get this. We just have to hope she is given sufficient time to turn things round.

This to some degree accounts for Johnson's ambivalent attitude towards COVID killing off a lot of the older generations.

The other factor is that he is a massive coont.

Seems a bit harsh on Ray Reardon being an “Out” when he has passed away.

My Dad played him once at Butlins at Minehead, he seemed an all-round good chap.

Certainly not somebody to be bracketed with Rupert Lowe.

And is it Stockport or Southport???

5 Things About The Kassam Stadium
at 12:24 1 Aug 2024

We left 5 minutes from the end, as I had read horror stories about getting out of that car park. Besides there wasn't much on the pitch to justify staying until the end....

I spent quite a bit of the game trying to visualise where Westwood's flatbed truck would have been at the open end when his team hilariously lost the play-off semi-final there during COVID.

I quite liked the bit at the back of the main stand where they have years denoting trophies won. I realise this is a bit of an open goal for the less welcome visitors to this site, so will just leave it there......
