What's the point in lobbing high balls to Archer when he's being marked by a 6'5" defender? Ramsdale's passes were on the whole pretty good, but it does rely on the player he's passing the ball to being able to control it, and also that player having someone to lay it off to, and, more importantly on Saturday, a referee who actually gives free kicks when a defender tries to kick our forwards up in the air.

Wolves today. And so it goes on. First it was Man Utd now it’s City.

Assuming we scored the penalty.

Probably the biggest cheer at the Legends game today was when Le Tiss came on as sub. He slotted home a penalty with familiar consumate ease and was still signing autographs half an hour after the game had finished. He may have a few mad ideas that people don't agree with, but he's very much still worshipped in these parts.

Yep, and our free kick conversion rate has been amazing since he left. Muppet.

Why should anyone care where the song comes from? It's not like it's an SS marching song from WW2. Besides, didn't Liverpool nick it off a foreign team originally?

5 Things About The Ipswich Game
at 10:18 24 Sep 2024

1. I noticed that my side of the Northam (the left side) do tend to sing different songs to the right side. Perhaps to revive that away fans 'bounce off' you talk of, Saints should re-install the black mesh down the middle of the stand and both sides of the Northam should start hurling abuse at each other. Shouldn't be too difficult, the right-siders look a right ugly bunch of c***s.

3. We don't bother with the footbridge anymore, we go up Britannia Road and across the road bridge. Not only does this save time but you get a lovely view of the newly opened swimming pool where the gasometer used to be.

4. Didn't see a seagull but a butterfly flew across the Northam End during the match. I'm no expert, but I think it was a white one.

5. And we warm up at the Northam End now too.

Again, just out of interest, who would you have started instead of Archer?

!!!!!!!! RM OUT !!!!!!!!

I can't believe that I actually agree with I_Would for once. Normally I think he's an unhinged, ill informed, vindictive idiot whose views are totally worthless, but I do concur about our free kicks and corners. If only we had someone who could drop the ball on a sixpence in the opposition area or bang one in from 25 yards. I think what I_Would is really getting at is that we need James Ward-Prowse back.

There's no apostrophe in Stephens. If you're going to continually post about the same player at least get his fecking name right.

He’s not finished, he’s only 28…

I was there. I seem to recall they did an MLS style shoot out at the end and the Saints players were pretty rubbish at it. Even Mike Channon, who usually rounded the keeper with consummate ease in open play, completely flunked his.

What do you know about anything? Your irrational hate campaign against JWP showed what a sad, ill informed and vindictive individual you are. Your views are worthless.

!!!!!!!!!! Russell Martin out !!!!!!!!!!!
at 12:24 2 Sep 2024

I would just like to point out that virtually all of you lot wrote off Saints and Russell Martin at roughly this point last season, and again before the play-offs. So just carry on whingeing and hopefully things will turn around soon. That's all.

WTF happened to the place ?
at 12:18 2 Sep 2024

Not sure how Soton have got their town planning so disastrously wrong down the years. It's not as though there's no other towns and cities to take inspiration from. I went to Gunwharf recently and had a wander along the seafront. Although much of Pompey is a bit of a dump, the waterfront area is lovely and the real focal point of the city. It puts Soton to shame. Southampton does have a chance to do something special with the redevelopment of Town Quay and Mayflower Park (if it ever happens) but you just know that it'll inevitably end up as some half-arsed carbuncle with the usual 'shops, hotels, bars and michelin-starred restaurants' that the developers and investors love, but no-one else really needs or wants.

Who Has Had To Move Their Seat From Last Season
at 19:12 21 Aug 2024

Our seats were in the family stand so we had to move. Shame really as we've had them for nearly 10 years. When I first got a season ticket for my lad I remember the groundsman let us sneak into the stadium to select the best seats. Since then, from those seats we saw both bad times and very bad times. And the occasional good time too.

Looked to me like it was more of a coming together of heads than a proper headbutt. In fact, if the Newcastle lad had dived to the floor at exactly the same moment I wonder if both players would have been sent off. A bit like the classic boxing match episode of Porridge when Lenny Godber and his opponent had both been told to take a dive in round two so both of them hit the canvas simultaneously.

When things got really terrible on the pitch Stuey was often the only player worth watching, the only one who wanted to get the ball and run with it, and the only one who had the potential to do something exciting. I for one shall miss him.

Given what it was originally invented for, I would suggest that the only transfer target the word 'radar' should truly apply to would be Gerd Müller.
