 | Forum Reply | QPR trounced in final home game as Burnley run riot - Report at 11:39 28 Apr 2025
After returning home, I saw that clip of their players running back when Dembele was on a break. No sign of any of ours running in support of Dembele though. Even if we can't afford players who can match the quality of that opposition, it would be great to have players showing that attitude. Very impressive from Burnley, the clean sheet obviously mattered to them. |

Yes, he's suspended for 3 games for an incident 'not seen' by the ref at Preston. |

Thanks Clive for putting together an impressive preview after a very busy weekend for you. I think we will miss the defensive workrate of Smyth & Saito today. If we start with Dembele, Yang & Madsen (and/or Andersen) we could be very open. Hope I'm wrong, but suspect Morrison's impressive starting stats could finally take a knock with a 2-1 defeat. So many keepers commit and make it easy for this type of penalty taker. If more acted like Pope, far more would be saved and this style would probably fade away. |

I've gone for Smyth at Bristol City. Not just for the distance but the composure he showed. It would have been easy to go down to try to get the keeper sent off (which judging by similar scenarios would have given no advantage to us) but for once he stayed on his feet and finished well. |

Also the Crown and Sceptre 'Official' Opening Night although actual opening is 26 April. Opportunity for celebratory pre-match pints. |
 | Forum Reply | Anyone old enough to remember Stan Bowles in the bookies before games at 12:08 15 Apr 2025
I worked on the Tote at White City Stadium during 1978-79 for the greyhound racing and Stan was a regular visitor. Will always remember he turned up one night 10 minutes before the last race at 10pm following an away game at Maine Rd. I figure he must have run straight from the coach drop-off to get there in time for the last race and it was worthwhile as he ended up winning £100+. [Post edited 15 Apr 16:54]

Thanks Clive. Great report. I'm sure the long streaks without a win in our recent history are a mentality issue. However it should be possible to conquer this as Rory demonstrated so well last night, with many crediting his sports psychologist Bob Rotella for improving his mental strength. Who was the guy we used back in the 2010's, sadly since passed away I think, whose mantra was 'Find a way'? |

The drama of sport at this high level is why we love it. All human emotion on display. Paul McGinley summed it up very well on Sky. Well done Rory. |

So glad he finally won the Masters to complete the Grand Slam. Great player who deserved it. Finally overcame the pressure he put on himself. |

You would have to make Justin the favourite now but think Rory deserves it. |

Reminds me of our start at Watford last season under Ainsworth. |
