Yeah the Armstrong foul didn't make any sense. The attacker had the ball and was brought down. I thought the ref was going to get a card out as Armstrong was through - but instead he gave the foul the other way and we ended up conceding as a result.
Corporate entertainment/hirage space. We've currently got 18 corporate boxes which seat 12 people. Even if we were to grow either the number of boxes or capacity of patrons within them, it'd generate additional revenue.
Yeah he's been training with us and is a free agent - that'll mean writing is on the wall for Kane.
WLS also indicating we're looking to get rid of Niko - which is surprising given we gave him a 4year contract recently. In saying that, he really hasn't filled me with any confidence.
Masterton went out on loan to Swindon and barely featured for them there - only 5 appearances. I'd imagine we'll ship him out on loan again to get some game time.
The issue you have with focusing on an academy to develop players is (as we've seen with Josh Bowler in recent times) that larger Premier League clubs will swoop in and take your best young players - often getting away with paying a minimal fee (if they're younger than 18 iirc).
Clubs like Brentford had these issues and actually ended up closing their academy recently in favour of picking up and developing young Premier League outcasts. Thus far it has shown to be a profitable model for them and they finished in the top 10 last season.
There was a really good article/video about it a few years back -I can't find, but here's a couple of links:
The information provided was an official media release that was leaked early (letter was dated 27/07 and released 2 days prior). If the FFP had got wind of it, the club could've faced serious punishment - they privately contacted members of various forums and asked for it to be removed.
Other articles are stating we're competing with Boro & West Brom for his signature. Hate to be a skeptic, but it's highly unlikely we'll get him if they're involved.
Fair play. But with Ned and Hall injured, which other CB would you have elected we use for the played formation? Sure we could've gone with 3 at the back, but...we didn't...
Ah, that old reasoned analysis with minimal fact but not letting it in get in the way of a good whinge?
Regarding Lynch, my comment (in the other thread mind) was that we looked comfortable with those two even considering their limited time to form a partnership. You've obviously misread and jumped to conclusions, but no surprises there right?
No we didn't. We looked comfortable earlier in the season with Hall and Lynch at CB - even considering their limited time to form a partnership. This game, we went with on recognized CB, a LB played out of position, Perch (nuff said) and Robinson - who's returning from injury and has barely played for the first team.
"We're hopeless without Ned" is a typical knee jerk reaction.
