I love Eze, but in International football very very few players get the free role he needs to be effective and gets at Palace. Top of my head…Maradona, Messi, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Baggio, then I’m struggling. Given the lack of time with the players they all have to fit into a tight system. I wish it was different, but I doubt Eze will ever fulfil his potential for England, under any manager. |

With only 1 or 2 you won't maximise the value from the players with potential. Look at Benfica and Dortmund, both have player income of €1bn in the last 10 years, by having a mix of exciting youth with potential to sell on, but also a core of experience, not just 1 or 2. To get consistent strong revenue from player sales, a club has to perform and have a stable core of experience, to allow these young assets to come and go out without massively impacting performance. To put 9 in as you're suggesting is playing a game of short term luck, its not building a long term strategy. |

I completely buy in to the idea of building a squad of players at the right age with resale value, but they can't all be and the others can and need to add value on the pitch. Cook has no resale value but is hugely valuable. A club like QPR needs a blend, as I said on another thread, Hayden would have been my first signing in the summer, it was clear how important he was to how we set up and grew last season. I think Dembele and Saito will both be very good, but I believe they need a Hayden to succeed and fulfil their future value. |

Like the rest of us I think Marti had ambitions to be in the mix for the top 6 this season, so he adapted our style to try and get more creativity in there, but its not worked out.
Now we're back in the bottom 3, I think he'll revert after the break, where primarily we're hard to beat, and go as we did when he came in and we build back up from there.
I think he's potentially a very good manager, but he is still young and still learning, he'll make mistakes, that's fine so long as he's learning from them and continues to adapt.
My only concern is that Hayden was key last season, he'd have been my first signing in the summer, but appreciate age and wage perhaps didn't allow. |

Agree he gave the ref a decision to make, but in the Championship I want our players to be doing that, but in a planned way, if the team know what each other will do, they can work together to back each other up and influence decisions, do it well and the oppo will think twice and bottle a few.
This wasn’t a red for me, it was just a late tackle, it wasn’t dangerous, you have to look at the situation, he over ran the ball and dived in, he didn’t run 30 yards to recklessly lunge someone. If that’s a red by the book, the book needs to be rewritten in my opinion. I’d be appealing it.
No way Smyth’s was a foul before the goal, the ref’s been bought and sold by the Blackburn players yesterday. Bad day all round. |

Personal view is that Carsley will sit in there for a year to manage us along, as he's meant to be decent, but we'll then appoint Pep at the end of the season. I'd guess Carsley felt he'll do well in the year, raise his profile and get a decent job out of it. The Irish job is a good one, but a tough one to raise your profile in the short term. |

I don’t dislike him as much as most, as I think there could be a decent player in there, but this stat says it all, that is a dreadful record, over such a long period that there are simply no excuses. |

If the Hearts rumour was true, any chance it could be a part exchange with Shankland?
The expected JCS sale has gone very quiet, any expectation that could still happen? Wonder if the club were expecting him to go, but now he’s interested clubs have moved on and the club are now being pushed into selling others, but may have nothing to do with it? |

Its been a good tournament, but I don't like the 3rd place option, it adds an unnecessary round. Personally, I prefer 16 teams, 4 groups of 4 and top 2 qualify for Q/F...but also think there should also be a 'Euro Shield' competition on at the same time, run in another country, with games played at different times of day, so they don't compete for tv audiences, that includes the next 16 teams from the qualifiers. That helps the developing countries experience tournament football, in a more competitive way and I'd award the winner an automatic place in the Euro Championships 4 years later. This would keep the main tournament very competitive but also help develop the next 16 countries and offer a great incentive for winning it.
Portugal won it in 2016 having finished 3rd in their group and didn't win a single game in 90mins in the tournament, so it also offers the favourites a back door if they start slow, which is a nonsense in my opinion. |

Chelsea were relegated in 1988 using a similar system, a great year!
3rd bottom went into the play offs with 3rd, 4th and 5th in league below, current system seems better to me. |

I've not watched it yet but will. I was at the game with mates and it was a shocker from start to finish, the limited tickets, lack of policing, the transport planning, but ultimately the morons, it was like a scene from Planet of the Apes.
2 hours before ko, all units down Wembley Way had to be shut with people climbing and jumping all over them, loads of empty and half full cans being thrown all along, it was a carpet of empty cans. Drugs being snorted off any flat surface available. Kids looked terrified.
The turnstiles were mobbed 100 deep and turns out closed off, but we weren't told, so impatient surges started and panic set in for many.
After the game, finally the trouble had passed but so had the trains as they ran a Sunday timetable, extra time penalties meant tubes were limited and last trains had all left waterloo once we got there, so had to taxi back to Woking for £150.
I went to 3 other games and didn't see one issue, was just the final. |

Listened to the Paul Barber podcast, Brighton are great at succession planning well in advance, I suspect they’ll have identified his replacement before Marti joined us. Does look likely it will be McKenna, given they have gone early on this and not waited to get a fee for DeZerbi |
